- When darkness falls,
Leaving shadows in the night,
Don't be afraid,
Wipe that fear from your eyes.
The desperate love,
Keeps on driving you wrong,
Don't be afraid,
You're not alone.
Chorus
You can run with us,
We've got everything you need,
Run with us,
We are free.
Come with us,
I see passion in your eyes,
Run with us.
When the cold wind blows,
Turn your cover to the cold,
Don't be ashamed,
If you need someone to hold.
If you're sinking in quicksand,
And it's dragging you down,
And you feel you're going under,
We'll be around.
Chorus
You can run with us,
We've got everything you need,
Run with us,
We are free.
Come with us,
I see passion in your eyes,
Run with us.
Short instrumental break
And you're behind closed doors,
All alone by yourself,
And you're longing inside,
To be somebody else.
You pick up the telephone,
And there's no one on the line,
Don't be afraid,
'Cause there's still time.
Chorus
You can run with us,
We've got everything you need,
Run with us,
We are free.
Come with us,
I see passion in your eyes,
Run with us.
Repeat Chorus
Run with us. - Hudba
The Raccoons!!!!!!! Still rocking in 2024!!!
It is normal that im the only Brazilian to know this show ?
Goosebumps!
@@LeandroCartoonI’m sure there’s others.
I'm 44 and this still gives me goosebumps!!!!
I'm 39 and this does as well. I love this song!!!!
SAME. It's so amazing.
I'm 38 and has the same effect on me!
Because shes that good💯
shows were so good back then, opening themes, animation, and stories. A few seconds takes us all back.
No matter what age you are , as long as you watched the Racoons then you know this song and it gives me chills still it was epic
This should be the national anthem of Canada.
sure beats "in all of us command."
@@PhilMante And "in all our sons command" as well.
I couldn't possibly comment on it being Canada's national anthem but it sure as hell kicks ass compared to many other TV theme songs.
I could see it being used in the CFL
I live in Scotland and us Scots absolutely loved The Racoons .
This song is the embodiment of Saturday Morning!
For me it was each morning before school
This song is the embodiment of the streets.
Tru dat!
It was shown in Russia in middle 90's, but on sunday mornings.
Word
The series was great fun, but this song stands alone as one of the finest pop records of the 80s. Polished, catchy, professional, beefy harmonies, cheeky guitar fills and vocal up and downs. The sort of thing Belinda Carlisle would have as a mainstay. Love it. Very underrated.
Very true! If Belinda released this, it would be top 10.
You verbalized my exact thoughts!
This is italo-disco, not pop
and a 80s ghost choir
Not sure this works as a standalone pop song. The lyrics are too simplistic - it was made for a kid's cartoon. But that's its magic. It lives in that grey zone between old and young, just like the cartoon itself.
I’m 40 years old I know this song by every word! The raccoons as a kid was my childhood! it brings it all back instantly and makes me smile wish I was a kid again x
Oh me too mark though. Better days
Same age..
Same feelings
Same opinion

Growing up watch this show everyday it aired♥️
This woman has no idea how many lives she touched. X
And to think she's gonna be well on her way to being 60 now, possibly already is
@@Truckergunners WOW don't age her, she is 54 lol
So 80s it hurts. Love it 😁
Never new this was a single, just always thought it was the end to raccoons. I miss the 80s
It charted internationally
I miss the raccoons as a whole. I can't even watch reruns now, listening to Len Carlson voicing Bert almost brings me to tears. All that talent, gone.
This song has been stuck in my head for 30 odd years intermittently, and I've only found it just now.
Grew up in the 80s, watching The Raccoons (among others) and now I am playing this song to my 5-month-old son.
you're a good father, or mother, i dunno either way you're a good parent
@@ellnats Thanks, I don't think it's that simple in being a good parent. I wish I become a good one and wish that to anyone who is raising a child, alone or with another parent! It's a good song! Be well!
Same here this song gives me the goose bumps good energy grew up in the 80s watching this gem also
Teaching them well my friend
@@terranmcarthur262 We were lucky to grow up in the 80s-90s.
Man I miss the 80s. Big hair. Questionable dance routines 💃😊 I have an overwhelming urge to rewatch The Raccoons now.
Gotta love a questionable dance routine
Im actually re-watching the Raccoons and is funny as hell. A lot of jokes I didnt get when I was a kid
Vague memories of this and (Simon and) the Secret Railroad. Music & show, without a doubt, true vintage Canadian.
IKR? BIG 80's animated adventures, buff; and having never ever seen The Raccoons before, would so watch it, now!
Ha ha!
I watched Racoons yesterday, on CZcams, my son enjoyed it, it was in square mode, my son asked is this 3D? 😂😂😂
The Cybertronic Spree brought me here!!!
Seriously, until today I never heard of Lisa Lougheed. Nor did I know that this song was in the charts, let alone released, and with a music video no less.
Ahh, the 80's you will never cease to surprise me.
Lisa Lougheed is also the voice of Lisa Raccoon in The Raccoons too and I came here because of the Raccoons. I like how Sophia Tutu is the main focus of this music video.
This song is so underrated.
She has power in her voice.
"Lisa Lougheed, I see smile in your eyes"
Best greeting from Germany.
Ah, the bygone days when even a Saturday morning cartoon had an epic theme song! LOL, love it!
This, Wheeles Warriors and MASK weee tops!
They don’t make them now a days
@@TheBungle699they do for Japanese shows
I love it when something brings unrelated groups together...Raccoons and Hobo With a Shotgun.
Andrew Rae aqww
But they are related, by Nation of origin and by this song lol
Brilliant 👍
Such a good film :-)
Sweet nostalgia this takes me back to a simpler time as a child before the weight of the world thoroughly crushed my spirit
Nah mate… if you know this song your spirit can never be crushed

Life, it's a muthafucka
I’m here in 2019 singing this song running up a sand dune in Oxwich bay, Swansea, Wales 💪🏼
Oggy oggy oggy, i hope you achieved your goal
I’m here in 2020 watching this video running on a treadmill in my basement. I have to tell you, 2019, that the next year is going to be rough. I hope this warning from the future gets to you and you are ok.
@@blutygr3158 it's now 2021, I'm watching this sitting on the throne in Austin Texas.
Sitting in my car in Canada after my late night evening shift. Miss these times.
This is SO 80s.
Yep, and she gave the character a sweet edge. She probably gets the most fanart out of all characters! (TBF, She was pretty cute) The ep where Lisa adjusts to living in Evergreen after her folks uproot her from everything she knows ((home, school, bf) is one of her best performances.
@@Hulk2k6 a add
Cheers for this I couldn't remember
Wait what!
@Hulk2k6 ok I didn't know she did the voice of her
When you think you've seen everything on the internet, you see this gem
Indeed!!! :-)))
I always listen to this as a kid, during the end credits of The Raccoons... This tune has been burned into my soul.
I had NO IDEA who sang this but, after a little digging, reminiscing about that great cartoon series, I find myself here.
My God... She's Beautiful!!! Sexy... It's like Fame and Prince and Jackson all over again...
A beautiful woman is just a beautiful woman... And no doubt there's a lot of them running around these days BUT, a beautiful woman with actual talent? That's rare!!! It almost magnifies the beauty to become something else... Something deeply profound...
Exceptional
THUNDERCATS!!!
I know this is a bit late, but the Kids at my Elementary School thought I made this up. In other words: "There's no such thing as The Raccoons" is what they said to me.
Loved The Raccoons as a kid and this song always gave me chills. One of the best things from the 80s. Had no idea it was released as a single and a video - I love it even more now! Lisa is amazing!
I woke up with this song stuck in my head. Ending 2023 with a classic
I remember when The Raccoons ran in syndication, and once this song played at the end of Hobo With a Shotgun, I was in tears. Two great things in one package!
One of, if not THE, best songs to come out of the 80s.
If anyone says different...something has got to be dead in their souls.
There a several to challenge, I feel. But, this is a great, great track
such a shame that this music is not available on I-tunes and Spotify :'(
Wow I never realised this was an actual released song with a video. Always just thought it was a catchy tune for the credits.
Me too
Without the internet we would have never found things out like this.
Before the internet you would have had to just luckily happen across this while watching music video's,or found it on the end of watching a VHS tape.
I love all the information and entertainment the modern world allows us.But at the same time I feel that the soul and passion that used to be there doesn't exist any more
@@richiefranklin76 Or luckily catch it in a department store whilst shopping. Ah the good ol' days lol
this tune was why I looked forward to watching raccoons.
My Canadian childhood just came flooding back..... I'm expecting to see Mr Dress Up next....
That chorus just SOARS.
I wish i grew up in the 80s
This is a bloooooody good song. The hook just gets you 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I'm haPpY to see I'm not the only one who appreciated this song because no one I ever met seems to. You are my people.
The only reason I stayed till the end off raccoons lol. Couldn't fast forward in them days. How I've missed Saturday morning cartoons
Discovering that this video even exist is the reason why the internet is mankind's greatest invention! Pure awesomeness. Loved the Racoons! Will never forget this theme song, pure nostalgia.
This nothing I am 53 and I still think this is better than the shitie today !! ❤❤❤
you know, thinking back on it, this track is wildly incongruous in the context of the original show.
but it's still FREAKING AWESOME.
This needs /much/ more coverage. Fantastic song , and the show was great. 'Run With Us' to this day yanks at my emotions -.-
The cartoons of this decade (and some of the 90's too) had some seriously good theme songs!
I'm a 90s kid I remember the Raccoons
Love the, ''Oooooo ooooo ooooo'' by the ghost choir at the beginning. God I miss the 80's.
Adds to the 80s-ness of it!
You know it, haha
80s were the best! Didn't need iPads or any other similar tech! Outdoors and a BMX is all you needed... Oh and a football for the park! :)
Tears of nostalgia...
I was born In 86, this song defines my early 90's childhood... F Cyril sneer
the ever green forest a quite peacefull place
thats untill burt racoon wakes up
I'm 41 and still in love with this song🥰
So many memories from my childhood scary time is flying by.
Back 5 years later 🤪
Back again another year gone
I love how how this video has so many Michael Jackson elements from Beat It, Billie Jean and Thriller.
The theme song stuck in my head now. I'm 37 and still watching the Raccoons.
About as 80s as the 80s gets! What a theme tune though :)
Tears, yet again. What a track. Love it.....
Great tune from a great TV series of the 80's, so glad I grew up in that decade!!
Brings back so many happy memories never seen this original video only the racoons version 45 years old and I feel like a child again!! 😊
Kids these days have no idea what they missed out on. Most cartoons from this era had amazing ballads. The world we live in today is a world of plenty. Yet it's just plenty of nothingness. If life had a rewind switch eh?
Life would be simple in the forest, except for... When this song comes on and stirs every emotion in my body
I’m 43 and this is still my jam!!!
How come this is better than the crap now ??? 80 ,s rule ❤❤❤
It's really amazing how cheesy but so badass this is at the same time.
Is an innocent teen song of a kids cartoon. YET still manages to kick ass, beats the crap of all the junk/shit noise which we call music today.
Btw, this girl Lisa was really gorgeous ohh bro ! so pretty, I'll kill for a girl just like her.
All music is good, not limited to any one generation. Don't be an ignorant tool.
Same! I mean, any gorgeous girl who can sing like that, and provide the voice to one of the animated characters in a cartoon, on top of that, is my idea wife for life!!!
@@Kiristovai Bullcrap
Never understood how this became the theme for this show, but man, it's an awesome song. I never knew it had its own music video - looks like some of the choreo was lifted straight from the Jellicle Ball from "Cats", especially in the instrumental break.
My kids loved the Raccoons and I love this song.
I TOTALLY REMEMBER THIS!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!! OH PLEASE BRING THIS TIME BACK!!!!!!!! 😘😘😘😘😘
my favorite song, I used to turn up the volume. 😀😄
The Raccoons was one of my favourite TV shows when I was young. I always felt sorry for Cedric.
An absolute belter, keep the rave alive
That song is so awesome. I remember to watch the 80s cartoon series The Racoons were I was an kid.
The greatest thing ever recorded in the history of the 80s
Didn't get out much?
This is so 80's I feel like I should rewind it at the end and return to the honesty slot at Blockbuster. Also whoever started the petition to get this made the official Canadian national anthem, you are a legend!
Used to peddle home after my paper round as quick as my legs could go to watch the raccoons.. happy day's
The raccoons old good years❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I rember getting up on a sataday mornings just for this song
Oh man listening to this at the end of Raccoons back in the day loved it
Amazing to hear it almost 30 years later
The Evergreen forrest... Now and forever!
Loved this song! Obviously from one of the greatest cartoons EVER made The Racoons. Always makes me happy. :-) Still sounds awesome as well!
Nothing but pure 110% nostalgia!!! Saturday morning TV in the late 80's/ early 90's - I'd give anything to go back to that time, even just for one day lol!!
Beautifull, and wonderfull voice, what a memories
Ahhh the memories, Racoons was quality.
Just when I thought A hobo with a shotgun couldn't get any better, this ended as a theme tune. I've been listening to the full-lenth version since college (2000-2003) and I'm one hell of a fan.
If you listen to the lyrics though, it would be the perfect song for a vampire movie, especially a transitional one (y'know, Lost boys, Near dark etc).
Its a good song on its own
But if this was on the lostboys it would of sounded cheesy
Lost girls sound track maybe
80s in body and soul!
So much awesome 80’s all rolled into one song. Makes me sad it’s not more we’ll known than it is. Keep it alive, Raccoons!
Really, where you from then as that is not in general terms lol
Thanks for reposting this now that the original old one is no longer viewable in the UK :)
(edit - though somehow I only just realised it's in mono ... which I guess makes sense if it was on MTV rather than coming from the 45 single)
The 80s were awesome!❤❤❤
She needs to make a come back album like Rick Asley, have her old songs and some new ones. She gets some additional revenue, we get to listen to her songs whenever we want, everyone wins
She's so enchanting. I'd give up everything for her.
Rest in Peace Rutger Hauer ✊🏻
First time I've seen this video ..... raccoon was my fave cartoon and I loved this theme song!!!! Bringing my youth back like a hurricane!!!!
Wow never never this was an actual chart released song !!!!
“ We are the free”
Tune! The Raccoons!!
Who would have thought the Racoons would have such a great theme tune to it.
Lisa Lougheed and her bandmates from Canada really kick ass with this awesome song.
what a track !
I wanna know how a not quite that good cartoon ended up with one of the most badass ending themes in cartoon history. I need to know that story.
+Kalyx SAME! I fail to understand why this happened. lol
+Kalyx Because the person who wrote the song was also the creator of the show.
*****
Hahaha for real?! It's a shame. The song is so much better!
+Zidders Roofurry Person should do a whole album. The song is amazing.
Kalyx She actualy came out with several albums and was a contemporary of Alanis Morrisette in the 90's.
Upsets me knowing my kids now won’t have the 80s childhood I did. Simpler times
It was when you *willingly* woke up early on a Saturday, made cereal, and parked your ass in front of TV.
Just got don watching Hobo With A Shotgun. This song was the end credits, which led me here. Great song.
Not the racoons
It really is a crime that this tune hasn't been used in compilations, re-releases or even soundtracks. True it was used for 'Hobo With a Shotgun' but no OST was released for it. :/
there are remakes of it on itunes, but not this version
I agree, it is a real shame.
You know it's weird... I vaguely remember the cartoon, but This song has been burned into the underbelly of my mind
Saturday mornings as a kid watching the raccoons, I'm now 42 and this song is still as good now as it was back then.
Someone really should release a CD of classic 80s/90s cartoon themes. Some of them are great listening.
And ‘Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors’
I wasn't much of a fan of The Raccoons in the 80's but would gladly sit through it just for this epic tune!
This 90s princess reminds me of someone ❤️🩹
Just plain epic.
I loved the raccoons cartoon and this theme tune. I'm 48 and I am always transported back to my youth
