There is nothing about you that's null and void! Thanks for the review. Love to hear you play. I'm about to finish making a C key Irish whistle out of furniture grade black plastic with a nylon plug. Great for backpacking and camping. Weatherproof and light. Thank you again, and the playing was beautiful, like the player.
Just ordered one of these to begin my learning journey and your discount code still works, so thank you for that 🥰 Plus your review was much better than JM,s 😊
I have bought many whistles based on your great reviews and I have never been stirred wrong yet. Thanks so much for all your fantastic reviews.❤️🎶💖
You can certainly bring out the magical sound quality of the song. Thanks
Lovely sound in key of D vs. low whistle. Nice review. Thank you, and be well!
Great packaging and unboxing experience of the tin whistle, very good presentation.
Wow! Sounds awesome- This may be the one I get- EXACTLY what I've been waiting to hear! And this is why they send you free flutes! Love it.
Stephanie's review of this whistle means more to me ^_^
sounds soooo beautiful!
For one specific song (irish blessing) I need a whistle in Bb. After some search and comparison (and your reccommendation) I decided to go for a Lir - and your dicount code still works! So, thank you (again and again)! :D
I’ve been playing the tin whistle for two weeks now and your videos have been incredibly helpful and educational. I just purchased a Wild by McNeela but I must admit I want this… bad! Lol😂
Thank you for this review. After giving it some thought, I got mine (thanks for the discount code ;) ), and I must say I'm quite impressed. It's heavier than the usual tin whistle, but it feels nice while playing. Doesn't require much air, it's quite loud as you say, and in general I like the sound, especially when playing fast. Very smooth transition between notes. Overall, I think it's a great choice for a High D whistle.
Hello Stephanie, thanks for this review and the discount code. I ordered a high D and got it in 10 days . I’m in Germany. I love it and will appreciate it very much. That being said, I initially followed your recommendation on a Clarke Sweetone and yes, the LIR is much better but I and am amazed how great the Sweetone is too.
I just got this one about a week ago I really like it a lot
I just upgraded to a Lir high D. Oh, my gosh, I absolutely love it! Thank you for all your tin whistle reviews!
They're fantastic whistles, can't fault em! 💚💚💚
Verry good. I ordered a whistle with your promo code. Thank you very much! Greetings from Moscow!
I just purchased an engraved Lir using your code. I started lessons 2 weeks ago and found your channel very useful with some great tunes... Thanks 👍
It arrived 2 days after I ordered it! I'm no expert but it looks and feels great with a nice weight to it. It's silver plated with logo and Lir name engraved in black on the silver part of the mouth piece. I tuned it up using a digital tuner and have all the notes pretty much dead on the needle, I just need to add a tiny bit more pressure going up... Edited: F#, A needing a bit more air pressure relative, so I guess these are a tiny fraction flat otherwise, but only just.
I have been using a Clarkes Sweetone the last couple of weeks and the Lir way better, but that's to be expected being almost 10 times the price of the Sweetone. The Lir to my ear has a fuller, richer and smoother tone which resonates beautifully (more flute like). It's louder and requires less air overall (I think). I'm over the moon with it. Now I just have to learn how to play a tune on it! 🙃😂👍
I have the Lir and the Wild. I go from one to ther other as they are both great whistles. Different but both good.
Nice review 👍🏻
That's a gorgeous whistle! With other Lir reviews I've seen using jigs and reels I really appreciate your review so I can hear a slow tempo song! That is definitely my comfort zone x
Thank you ❤️ I think it'll always be my comfort zone 🤣
I’d love to see you do a review on the ‘Shush’ Whistles.
The are made specifically for, and sold by, Big Whistle in the UK. As the name suggests they are made to be very quiet. I’ve only seen on CZcams review on this whistle. It’s by a french guy, so I couldn’t understand much of what he said, but the whistle sounded pretty great and I’d love to hear your thoughts.
It certainly sounds higher pitched than a lot of your other whistles!
The Lir website says it's a silver plating over brass. "The Lír high D whistle is made from brass, providing a rich and bright tone. The body is finished with a silver plating process over the brass. This silver plating gives the whistle an elegant look as well as maintaining a clean look for longer." Silver plating makes me want one! :-)
The original Lír whistles had chrome plating but they've since changed to Silver Plating. I have full sets of both and they're wonderful whistles.
The patina "unusual discoloration" on a brass whistle is favored by many. It shows character, like the crags of John Wayne's face.
Thank you for this recommendation, I got my lir after deliberating it for months watching this video! Very pleased with it and the discount! Regarding the dipping in soap water.. Does it cause the silver to tarnish, and do I dip the entire whistle in it, or remove and dip only the mouth piece in soapy water?
I'm not sure, I haven't done this with silver whistles, but it doesn't need to be repeated very often (if you're using for clogging reduction purposes or general cleaning) so hopefully shouldn't cause any problems if you fully dry the whistle. I only really do this if I notice a whistle doesn't quite sound the same as it used to.
Mine finally arrived this morning after a bit of a delay while I paid VAT on the import. I love the tone of it! The lowest note sustains and cuts through really well, which will be great as I want to record it. I'm struggling occasionally with intoning the second octave E without squeaks. Any tips about that note range, either for this whistle or in general? I've not had lessons so I'm finding my way alone in this... :)
Nice
Hey Cutie did you ever do a review on the Abell Whistle, I can't remember... I guess I could do a search :P Just before losing the thought.
I haven't tried an Abell whistle, but I've heard good things about them!
Hi thanks again for another great video and review. I'm in the process of of purchasing a 3 set of whistles and am considering the Killarney's, I've seen your review videos too and was wondering how you think the Lir compare with them. Thanks
I personally prefer the Lir whistles, they're heavier and a little clearer in tone, plus more responsive.
@@CutiepieTinWhistle Ok great thanks very much, very helpful and the discount code helps too :)
@@CutiepieTinWhistle Just ordered the Lir thanks for the help
I'm deciding between this and killary
You'll probably find it MUCH easier to get hold of a Killarney, though I personally prefer Lír. Lír whistles can take a very long time to be delivered.
Which one is your favorite a Killarney or a lir whistle? Great video. Thanks so much for your videos ☺️
I personally prefer the Lir whistles.
@@CutiepieTinWhistle Thank you Stephanie, I appreciate you answer my question so promptly. I just bought a Killarney I am very happy with it. Yes it does clog a little,as I've heard from other's. I am an amateur but has become a fun past time.Just curious how difficult it would be to purchase a Lir from the USA.. Thank you for your tips, advice and videos. I am a big fan of yours, you are such a gifted musician. Thank you again and for your wonderful tutorial videos.
@@johnramos2442 it's only personal preference. They're both great whistles! Definitely recommend them both, I just personal prefer the sound and feel of the Lir whistles. Not sure about postage to the US but should certainly be doable. Might be expensive?
Hello there! Thank you for the fine review. Did you by any chance get to play the Lir Bb or A whistle? I was curious about those options. Also, I checked your Sindt video and was wondering if you were more impressed by your Sindt whistle or the Lir? Much appreciated!!!
I only have a D Lir whistle, so I can't comment on the other keys unfortunately, but I imagine they're equally good! I have so many whistles that o haven't played my Sindt for a while (it's an Eb so I don't require it particularly often for tutorials) not I'll give the two a try and get back to you 😉
No worries, actually John Sindt got back to me just yesterday, just like that, and put me on his order list and Jerry Freeman also yesterday, out of the blue, got through to me and put me on his list. So, that was pretty cool. Do I need a Lir, probably not, but the whistle splurging continues and your thoughts and videos are motivating! Thank you
Do you happen to know how long the discount coupon is still valid? (I have to wait for money first... 😬)
As beautifull as you! And sound great!
I just bought one of these, Lir high D. It may be I am tuning it wrong somehow, but the low octave D (all holes covered) seems oversensitive to air flow compared to the next notes. This is making me sad and any tips anyone can give would be gratefully accepted.
I have a question i dont know if this is a obvious answer, but if i find any song on the key of D should i technically be able to play along if i have a tin whistle in the key of D? .. you know if i have the skills.
Yes 😊
It seems like they are Very similar to Killarney whistles. What would be the main differences?
This one is heavier so has a different sound. It's a little easier to hit the high notes cleanly on this one but it's definitely louder.
Would this be recommended over the Killarney brass whistle?
I personally prefer this one, it's a little easier to play. But it's definitely louder, so bear that in mind.
@@CutiepieTinWhistle seems need more air than killarney...
Hi Bonny lass , would it be possible to tell me what diameter the second hole from the bottom is on the Lir low F please . Have you ever had a wild Irish low F whistle? . I’m trying to decide between the two . Thanks in advance for your reply. Regards , Old Bill .
Lír don't make a low F whistle
Stephanie 💓You made me struggling again😂
As a beginner Lir Vs Killarney nickl which require less air? I have been watching your channel for a Whole Day But still struggling 😂
I personally prefer the Lir. I find it easier to hit the high notes more cleanly on it and I prefer the weight to it. But they're both lovely whistles.
@@CutiepieTinWhistle Thank you for your help! Just ordered 1 lir 💕🧚♀️😃exciting!
@@essalove I have a third one on the way 😱😱🤣
@@CutiepieTinWhistle now I might know why u order ing more... Its an incredible whistle, I mean Since I watched your video I bought, clarke original, feadog pro, dixion005, and lir, the lir whistle like a Magic whistle, I can easily play 4 songs with it, omg😂 immediatly dumped other ones 😂 maybe in the future I can play clarke, its require too much air for me 💓
What would you recommend for someone looking for a nice whistle that's: light in weight, soft rather than shrill in sound, plays like butter?
Chris Wall Sweetbrass, or a Mack Hoover whistle, but I don't know if you can get either of them very easily...
Following that, Lír or Burke aluminium, though you may need a touch of blu-tack for the ultimate 'butter' effect 💚
Which software can add echo in the video?
I have a video on how I add echo here: czcams.com/video/qOZtEJ9tfzM/video.html
Silver plated?
How is the breath requirement on this whistle?
It's a nice mid range. Not too little on the low notes, not too much on the high notes! 👍
Just popped over here from your other review video after you recommended the Lír. It does sound (and look) very nice. I'm guessing that discount code has expired? :)
It appears the discount code still works - I bought one. Thank you! :)
Can you please do a cover tutorial on World of Warcraft Kul Tiran humans theme? I really wanna learn it but I can't find a tutorial or music sheet anywhere :(
Send me a link to a version you like on CZcams. I'll add it to my to-do list 👍
@@CutiepieTinWhistle czcams.com/video/ECpYbHLxUIU/video.html
It's the first song in this video that stretches to min 1:40. Couldn't find the version with only this song, i hope that doesn't complicate things :). Thanks a lot and i look forward to learn it!
Wow I really liked it
LIR says, on their website, that the coating is a silver plating, not chrome. However, I still love you very much.
They've changed their whistles since this review from Chrome to silver plating for a few different reasons. It was difficult to get their original materials during COVID, and they found people were concerned about the use of chrome plating too. The summer plated whistles are now their normal and they sound just as wonderful 😁 I have a full set of both!
If possible could you make a video on Lir Low d whistle :)
I've got one on the way! 👍💚
@@CutiepieTinWhistle wow looking ahead 😃
Hello Cutie pie! I hesitate between Mc Neela and Lir...whats the best for you..thanks a lot. Very portant for me
I haven't tried the Wild whistle yet, so unfortunately can't compare the two. x
Ok thanks lady ! I am waiting for the good moment ...
I have the McNeela in EB and Bb and the Lir in A and am about to get the LIr in D also . In my humble opinion they are both seriously smooth makes, the Wild sounds a bit more traditional, the Bb is like butter but so is the Lir and the Lir has this otherworldly almost silvery bell to it. Every whistle has a bird inside I definitely love the Lir it's a very nice instrument.
Are all whistles tuneable
Lîr Whistles are, yes, but not all whistles are tuneable.
Don't Lir whistles have a silver finish rather than chrome?
They do now yes, they started with chrome 😊
👏 Bravo! Great performance! 👍 BTW: Is it just I, yours truly, or are you getting prettier by the day? 😊 After all, you're not called CutiePie for nothing. 👌 😉
Somebody can give me the name of the song please ?
The songs are listed on screen, and links to tutorials for both tunes are linked in the video description 👍
@@CutiepieTinWhistle thank you, my english is really bad. I dont' have noticed thas was the title of song. thanks for what you do.
It took Me 3 weeks to Catch up, since I Got Back.
🎶🎶🎵 💯💯💯💯😊😊😊
The current Chiff and Fipple whistle forum has very bad stories to tell about being sent inferior whistles by Lir, damaged, secondhand, silver wearing off, difficulty getting any response from Lir etc.
It looks like the discount is more like 10 euros than 10%...i went for a +200.- order
In fairness, Joanie Madden sounds fantastic playing any whistle, so your opinion does matter! The appeal of the higher end whistles is they're supposed to be a bit more predictable and in tune than the Generation or Clarke's.
Well you know, I wet whistle play, in the rain, because the rain washes everything away.
It may have been pointless, but we all wanted to hear the more attractive one reviewing it.
