    I'm new and just started playing tin whistle. I love this song, and I want to learn it, but I have one question. When you start playing fast and you're playing the same note back to back 2-3 times in a row, you must use tounging there, right? I would think it impossible to have the notes sound separated by just stopping and starting your breath that quickly without an articulation technique like tounging. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :]

    • @CutiepieTinWhistle
      @CutiepieTinWhistle Před 2 dny

      You can tongue, cut or tap to separate notes. I have a video on tin whistle ornamentation that might be useful 😊 czcams.com/video/7FtVhuC-110/video.htmlsi=nGhGaedX578WX9sE

    • @Noah-wf5do
      @Noah-wf5do Před 2 dny

      @@CutiepieTinWhistle Thanks, I was mainly asking because one of my favorite songs has like 5 of the same notes played in a row really quickly, and I wasn't sure if tounging them was the correct way. Because otherwise, I think it would just sound like one long note when it's played that quickly, haha. I think cuts or taps would change the sound of that specific song too much. So I'll try tounging then. Thanks again!

    That was very lovely. But I need to ask you, why don't you play from sheet music like all instruments. I learned the tin whistle from sheet music The way that you do it is very difficult, because you don't have vital information on how a piece of music is to be played. You need to know the timing signature at the start of the staff to know how many beats per measure. Whether it's a march beat or walts or any other. All are necessary to play a song properly. It also lets one know for each note how long to hold it, the length of each note and how it works with the beats. There are whole notes, half notes, quarter notes and sixteenth notes. There are also little signatures to tell you to pause and for how long. Stephanie, even little signatures that tell you to like Twitter a note. And certain words that tell how it's to be plyed and know at a glance such as: Allegro - fast, quickly and bright (109-132 BPM) Vivace - lively and fast (132-140 BPM) Presto - extremely fast (168-177 BPM) Prestissimo - even faster than Presto (178 BPM and over). Also long v on its side like symbols depending on the direction pointing, tells you if the notes starts loud and the goes quiet (that would be the wider part of the v at the start and quiet at the end at the point. And opposite for quiet to loud. It's all there at a glance as you play and much easier than guessing while looking at tabs or whatever you call what they are. They are meant in the beginning of learning just to let you know where the note you see on your sheet music correspondence to the instrument. Sweetheart, the way you are doing it is very difficult and working and playing blindly. I have heard a song you played once, it was beautiful but, unrecognisable in some areas to the actual song because the timing and lengths of certain were wrong and changed the song. All or I should most, at least the professional whistle players here in Ireland play by reading sheet music. Some people play by ear but, are not the professional. But will still join in sessions. One needs to be able to learn a piece with others and be handed the music sheet. It's all there, no guessing and it will sound more professional and one can put your own flavour to it. In fact there is a fabulous web sight where musicians share the music pieces and the variety of the pieces, because some are slightly different in different regions. They may have five or more versions of the same piece and different names as well.. On this site you can find any Irish & some Scottish traditional horn pipes, jigs, dlip jigs etc here. They don't share slow airs. Not sure why. But some songs can be slowed down and become and air. All for free and you can donate or become a patron. You can see the sheet music and hear the piece being played. It is simple sheet music, some of the symbols aren't there, but what you need is there, the key and all. It is called, "The Session". Start there to learn to read music. It becomes second nature you don't have to think about, where your eyes fall on a note on the staff and your fingers goes right to it without thinking. And any song sheet music gives you everything you need to know about the song or piece of music. The piece you are now playing would be so easy if you just ask for the sheet music for it. You could get on line. Some can be for piano, which is usually alright but, you must ignore the line of notes below it. But if classical, go for the flute or recorder sheets. If a song, go for the music for the singer. I play trumpet and tin whistle and some recorder.. In an orchestra everyone has their own sheet music of what there instrument plays and how there instrument is to be played. In this case you are playing the lead part, so just look up the song or piece's sheet music. And also go to, "The Session and you will have thousands of Irish trad music to choose from. You will be over the moon! You can hear it and play along. All though are played on Accordion or the Concertina. I wish it was whistle or flute . But I won't complain. It is a treasure trove. I play old hymns and classical and folk on my whistle mostly. And on my trumpet, as well as jazz and old big band music and oldies like Billy Holiday ad Luis Armstrong. Please do yourself a favour and learn what the notes are on the staff. It's VERY EASY 🎉and it will correspond to whistles. You won't be guessing and trying to remember how it goes. You will know how the song is played. You won't need to do all that work making a tab that is usually only used for children in the beginning along with sheet music.That's a lot of work and I am sure you would want to take next step in educating your viewers on how to truly play the Irish whistle from sheet music the way it's normally done. The way you are doing it is very frustrating for you and a lot of work. And you are not getting the information you need to play a song the way it was want tobe played. You won't believe how much easier it will be for you. You play lovely and this will help you immensely. Here is the web site link address for the Session. You will love it. It is free to be a member and you can print off the sheet music. www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=thesession.org/&ved=2ahUKEwj668SF_6qGAxW2WkEAHcfODzEQFnoECBcQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1yv5Cbc6cUjCOmbhHB2FYr God bless you Stephenie and thank you for all the enjoyable hours of hearing your beautiful playing. I do hope I have help you to understand why you need to use sheet music. It is not difficult at all. Some people are frightened of the looks of it! It's not difficult but, easy. Take care.✝️🕊❤
