    Great review. I think this is the only review of the Ryobi P2660 that shows someone actually using it realistically as well as being honest about it's faults. Some of the other reviews are cutting really thin weeds or butterfly bushes, etc, that wouldn't give a hedge trimmer any kind of workout. I appreciate you cutting the bottom of that tree to show that it can cut reasonably sized branches.

    I bought this trimmer yesterday and absolutely love it. The swivel handle is genius. I have a Craftsman 4 stroke power head with the different attachments and one of them being a hedge trimmer and I prefer this Ryobi trimmer over my Craftsman. It is much lighter so I can do more work with it before my arms give out. I also bought the 8” pole saw which I also like. It does a pretty good job for battery power. No real complaints, but my pole saw attachment on my Craftsman is better, primarily because I upgraded the 8” bar to a 12” bar and the 4 stroke motor has no issues powering that big of a bar. But I absolutely love this Ryobi hedge trimmer. Was able to trim about 150+ linear foot of fencing (on a single charge from a 4aH battery) that I had left get overgrown with brush for the last 5 years or so. Then I did a large area (perimeter) on my side yard which is about half an acre, also on a single charge on a 4aH battery. This thing cuts great in my opinion.

    I bought a cheaper version of the same cutter, it worked fine and i was a little rough on it cutting in the woods. When it stopped working i looked it over and saw where the blades moved out of aline. I loosen two screw and adjusted and back to the woods.

    Good straightforward review, thank you. Looking at getting both the hedge cutter and the pole saw and wanted to see them in action. And I too have a nemesis in the form of a giant hedge that is making a bid to reach the moon.

      The pole saw is 110% worth the $99. I used it to trim up over 1000' of tree line at my mothers and all around my 1 acre + yard on less than half a 9.0 battery. No issues, just keep the bar oil full and chain adjusted.

    the gears break easily and the gear on the blade assembly is not replaceable as a sub-assembly. you have to buy the whole blade assembly again.

    I'm looking for a replacement Hedge Trimmer. My Echo HC-150 blew a hole in the gear case. Never had a problem with the 2-cycle engine.
    8 years old, 20" cutting length, 11-lbs dry. Sooo, this Ryobi looks interesting - 7.5lbs is a lot lighter and its 24" cutting length appeals to me, along with the sweep.

      I'm thinking about buying this. I have a Ryobi 9 AH Lithium Ion battery and I think that will make this work better. The 1.5 AH battery that is supplied with this is too low a capacity to use for a tool like this.

    • @stevemelidis6072
      @stevemelidis6072 Před 5 lety

      senorashish 4ah would be good enough, 9ah is also a lot heavier which will make the tool heavier

    Liked your post! QUESTION: Is the 7.5# w/ or w/o battery? IF w/, then what size battery? QUESTION: How does it work on heavy branches 1/2" and greater? Thanks again for the vid.

    Hey man. Great video as always. There is no clip on the end of the hedge guard to hold it in place right? The instructions mention a retainer and I'm going crazy looking for it. I'm thinking the hedge guard only slides on and off like you show in the video.

    Right out of the box . . . Brand New Blade is Dull and . . .Weak Motor is only 1,500 rpm. Not a good combination. e.g. drags terribly through grass trim.
