I believe this is the only post-divorce scene of Harvey and his father, and Specter Sr. speaks of how he should have seen his wife's infidelity coming and by that, infers he should not have married her.
And now you know why Harvey ran from Donna's love for *years*, because running from the woman he wanted to marry would have saved his father.
its actually a smart thing to do as a person. yet most people dont do it.
learn from other people's mistakes. people know of the idiom but barely understand it, let alone implement it in their lives. Harvey was smart in not trying to make the same mistakes his father made considering how his mother was even after his death. I mean she paraded the guy she cheated on his father with even at his funeral. so in a sense Harvey was right in not making the mistakes of his father.
and they always say "never marry the woman you love, you will chase her forever, marry the woman who loves you, she will never make you chase her."
@@kabirsardana1282 being cautious is normal, but trauma is what happens when you can't escape your defenses even when you want to. Our parents give us much to be fearful of, in nature and in nurture. Harvey deserved to marry who he loved and who loved him--he deserved to let go of what was filling him with anxiety and anger. We all do.
@Harvey_Specter Harvey's father made it clear to him in likely one of their very last interactions that he (Specter Sr.) should not have married Harvey's mother because things ended badly. Harvey internalized this advice and chose to avoid engaging in a serious relationship with Donna even though he loved her best and listened to her emotional advice above all others.
Harvey was trying to rescue himself the way he wished his father had rescued himself.
@Harvey_Specter my point is that Harvey wasted years trying to protect himself from a threat in Donna that didn't exist. His parents' issues stunted his emotional growth, and it was one of his biggest character milestones to overcome that fear. I'm not sure what's unclear about anything I said, it's all right there in the show.

They don't need rachel for the spinoff
No series; they should do a movie. Rachel and Mike are working on an intense case. Rachel gets killed. Harvey and a grief stricken Mike fight to bring her killers down. It should be somewhat of a thriller because they find out Rachel was up to some antics that ultimately put her in harm's way.
Instead of the random attorneys they threw in after Mike and Rachel left for Seattle, the movie should have the "old gang" assembled to work the case. With no law license and soured on the Chicago political scene, Jessica now runs a highly successful private investigation firm. Donna went to train under her and is now a licensed Private Investigator and works for Mike and Harvey's firm. This would allow Donna to assist on working cases which is what she's really always wanted to do. Louis is now a judge but wants in on helping with the investigation.
This movie needs to happen and I want a writing credit. 🤣🤣🤣
