How to Grow a Plant: CORM Edition

- Growing plants from Alocasia corms is ultimate satisfaction 💯. If you have an Alocasia, you can gently dig around the soil to harvest these to grow new plants! This entire DIY also works for any plant propagation (not just corms!)
I found dupes for the Daiso products Iinked below.
Even if you’re not growing corms, Solum works great for propagating plants in general:
- it buffers the PH of the water to maximize nutrition uptake
- doesn’t break down easily
- larger shape to provide increase aeration for growing roots

Thank you so much!
the body heat thing 😂
Works like a charm 🤌
You are soo creative 😅
Thank you!
Yes I love that store! I wondered how u made those. I used Spag moss. I had an dragon scale that I bought from the 99 cent store and it gave me 4 little corns. When it dies. They are all doing great. Living in a big clear cookie jar
I’ve used sphagnum moss for corms too! I love Alocasias for their ability to produce corms 🥰
You are so funny I enjoy watching your show 🎉🎉😂 that last part sacrificing your body for his kids and have one got me❤😂😂😂😂
Hahaha it’s only fair! Thank you!

@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow No probs Michelle:)
Where do you get the cups with the humidity dome’s they’re perfect
I have them in my Amazon storefront under “propagation”
Love that! ❤ To use the one you show here, Fluval Stratum, and similar products: what would you say is the important ingredient that these types of substrates has? What is in Fluval or the one you use, that is working so well? So I know what to look for if they don't have these exact types. (hope you understand what I mean 🫣) ❤
Statum is nutrient rich - I believe it comes from the volcanic ash it’s comprised of!
I miss Daiso. Thanks for the Amazon substitute - only option here is Walmart and Amazon😢
That’s great.
It's sold out everywhere I looked for that substrate
I have alternatives in my Amazon storefront!
I keep seeing your soldering iron in videos. It looks so useful, I would like one too. Is there a brand you recommend?
Hi! This is the Soldering Iron to make drainage holes: amzn.to/3KfYw1T
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow That looks so cool, thank you!
@@christineolteanu You're welcome! I recommend using it in a well-ventilated area because burning plastic gives off some not-so-pleasant fumes. I have my air purifier on max level whenever I do this :)
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow Good to know, I'll probably just do it in my backyard then.
Plant boba!
And they are in pudding cups 😅
Could you link where you get the Solum? Also, a good site to source corms online?
Love your videos!!!
modern-aqua.com/shop/p/solumsmartsoil (MICHELLE5 will get you a discount). My corms come from friends or reputable sellers from local
Facebook buy/sell/trade groups!
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow Thank you!!
Ok I need the links for the cups to lol it's tickling my brain in the right way and I'm a grandma of 12 corms and 2 mystery variegated corms...I need a perfect 🥰 nursery
@@JessicaSugarTankLarsonAmazon pudding cups! Most will come w lids
@atticuslemon there's two tho, what size cup do the pudding cups fit in? I got some hard plastic cups at Target that fit my 4 inch pots but I need cheaper and smaller 😆 🤣
How do you keep the corms/substrate from molding?
You’ll want to have sufficient air flow
If I'm using fluval, should I add perlite to it?
You can go make the Fluval last longer
Where did you buy the corms from?
I get my corms either gifted from friends or from local Facebook buy/sell/trade groups (from reputable sellers with reviews)
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow ok thank you. I love your videos btw.
@@shellym79 Thank you so much 🥰
Hi! Does it matter what kind of aquatic soil we use for it?
There’s lots of different brands!
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow 🙂 ok thank you!😊
Yes! Use your husband as a living, walking, talking greenhouse!
It’s the least he can do lol
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow Yeah!
TWO jobs and TWO kids? wow!!
Me tired.
Any reason why stratum/fluval instead of leca? And also how much water to add? I can’t seem to grow my corms successfully 😊
I prefer not to grow my Alocasias in LECA anymore due to root rot. I’ve had 100% success rate with stratum! It’s nutrient rich and I’ve done experiments and found it roots the fastes. I keep it extremely wet but I don’t bury the corm completely. Only halfway.
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow ☺️ thank you! I’ll try that.
Wish I have seen this a month ago😅
For the next corm haha
Where do you buy your corms from?
I get my corms from friends or local plant groups from reputable sellers
What tool do you use the put drainage holes?
It’s a soldering iron: amzn.to/3KfYw1T
The start 💀
🤡
Where's Daiso?
It’s a Japanese convenience store similar to dollar tree
You are so cute
Hahah I’m glad you enjoyed it 🥰
It really is only fair 😂
THANK YOU haha
Lmao! It's only fair!
It’s the LEAST that can be done 😂
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow 🤣
😂😂😂
May I ask: what jobs do you have? I want to become a working mom.
I’m an educational consultant and I also have my own company that trains aspiring school administrators
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow Where do you find the extra hours in the day? No really... can you draw me a map??
Some how the man gets emasculated the end. This has to be in some lovely place in America. Lol😂
Not emasculating to have an equal partnership in plant parenthood!
Aren’t your kids your husbands’ kids too? Why must you “beg” him to watch his own kids? And for only 20min? He’s just as much of the parent so childcare is his job too 😅 and doesn’t he want to spend time with his own offspring?
You deserve genuine partnership!
You really can’t make an assessment or judgement on someone’s relationship from a 60-second Short about plants 🤔
It's a JOKE! 🙈🙄😒😑
Hahahaha and my other Shorts about kicking my husband out of the bed so my corm can sleep there were totally fine 🙈
@@ohtheplacesyoullgrow pahahaha!🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣TOOOOOOO funneeeee!🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
