I had a ton of fun playing and capturing 30 PSP racing games this week! I hope this inspires YOU to play your PSP too!
We have a nice PSP collection. So much fun. Love castlevania on it.
I use my PSP almost everyday. I often do some grinding on Final Fantasy while I'm making dinner.
Hardly ever play driving/racing games though on my PSP but some of these games in this video look pretty good.
I do own Ridge Racer 2. It's more or less the same game, but with more cars, tracks and unlockables. If the first game is a 'best of', the sequel is the complete collection.
Ever checked out M.A.C.H (Modified Air Combat Heroes)? It's a weapon based arcade racer, except in fighter jets. Multiple tracks and modes, interesting aircraft design and simple upgrade system. I remember stumbling onto this game on a casual trip to Tesco for £1. Best quid I ever spent!
Edit: here's the trailer if I haven't sold you yet: czcams.com/video/Bf2XnlF_Ufc/video.html
I love ur videos man it’s so awesome and brings back some good old memories! Just a recommendation video, u should do a video about psp exclusives because there were a lot of them on the psp
The PSP was WAAAY ahead of it's time. I remember around launch playing Ridge Racer in a mall in Florida and a crowd formed around me.
That's pretty cool. I remember going to malls...
I NEED HELP REMEMBERING A REALLY NOSTALGIC GAME ON PSP ITS LIKE RACING BUT LOW QUALITY AND ON THE CORNER OF STREETS THERE ARE RESTAURANTS THAT YOU COULD DRIVE THROUGH
@@ripahszn fake taxi???????????
@@jose.rrvlogs6706 possibly midnight club dub edition? You can drive through glass windows on corner stores and restaurants I believe
@@jose.rrvlogs6706 Ik this is really late but full auto 2? I have full auto 1 on the 360 and it sounds like what you were describing with smashing through shops and stuff
Edit: didn't realise he mentions it in the video but still sounds very similar
PSP was such a good hand held.
I had Gameboy, GA, GameGear, PSP, still have a Vita and now Switch.
They all are as good as their games, I still remember Fortress of Fear on Gamboy.
Incredible technology has gotten us now.
Been a Sony guy since the PS and have had all (still got the 4) but Sony messed u the PSP and later Vita as well.
The Switch is now my main system.
So many great games for the PSP!
Still such a good hand held. I started picking up more games on it recently because they’re cheap, and my 9yo loves playing it.
Still is. Love that little machine lol
Please don't tell me this is the reason why people love the PSP, because I hate Racing games and I had only a few games that I liked (basically just Metal Gear Solid...)
Midnight Club 3 is the best that I've played in the PSP. Completed it last week. It's really long than it's prequel
The world needs more arcade racers like Burnout.
Or better yet, just more freakin Burnout!!!
Dangerous Driving comes out on Feb. 22!
@@kropking I had no idea this game was in development. It looks great! Thanks for the tip
@@sjaaktrekhaak100
Only 10 more days! I'm pumped!
Ugh... nevermind. I just checked the release date one more time to make sure and just saw that it has been delayed to April 9. Oh well, I'm still pumped!
Xenon Racer and Trials Rising will hold me over until then!
Midnight Club 3 is not terrible >:(
SuperSupraRacer greatest racing game on psp only issue was the loading screen. took forever for it to load.
"Mightnight club la is better than 3" Lma,o the amount of tunning parts and cars the 3 has its lot more. the LA looks like rushed game.
de_Ultimate if you download the iso file to the memory card it loads really quickly ;-)
I prefer 3 to LA because 3 on psp is more or less just ported from the ps2, whereas LA psp just has less game. It is pretty much a requirement though to play the game from the SD card, and to overclock the PSP to the intended 333Mhz. Those reasons alone makes sense why it would be considered bad originally
Codeslamer yeah I used to play this on a stock psp years ago and it rarely ran at full speed let alone at a decent framerate. Still enjoyed then though (as well as now) :-)
Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast has just grabbed me this week. What a great PSP/PS2 classic!
I never get sick of psp videos. Keep em comin!
One of the best portables till today
Amen!
Please don't tell me this is the reason why people love the PSP, because I hate Racing games and I had only a few games that I liked (basically just Metal Gear Solid...)
@@nowonmetube People love it because of the older console emulation. And before anyone says SNES emulation sucks on it, it works fine if you use the right emulator (snes9xtylmecm build 091117)
I play these games on my hacked ps vita
@@nowonmetube PSP has a lot of great games outside of racing. Racing is really just one of the stronger genres on it.
OUCH Metal Jesus! Midnight Club Dub Edition used the San Diego streets, that's my hood. That's the 1st time you hurt my feelings
I just saw your old PSP videos yesterday and decided to come back to watch what else you do, lo and behold, more PSP!
Yesterday I watched the top 10 racing videogames for PSP video and today there is a new video :D
Love a PSP video! One of my favorite consoles, and definitely has great racing games. I finally got to play outrun thanks to your recommendation and you're right, very fun racer
Man I played SO MUCH Wipeout when I got my PSP. Haven’t gone back to the series since then but it was the perfect game to pick up and play at the time.
Was just thinking this morning...it's been a while since we've had a real Metal Jesus video. So happy to see you posting again! Great video, too!
Been a subscriber over 5 years. Your videos get better and better, keep up the great work.
Whaat? I can't believe you thought MNC3 Dub was terrible! I love that game, played it on both the psp and PS2. It's possibly my favorite racing game of all time, even tho I don't particularly enjoy racing games.
I went back to play the game again for this video...and it's pretty bad: blurry, slow, long loading times and frustrating AI. I much prefer the sequel.
I like the content of MC3 and completed the game, but still, the performance was pretty bad. Not having frame rate drops is a rarity. I felt it was bad enough that it was the number 1 reason I prefer LA Remix, which mostly hits 30 fps, (which i also completed) over it.
Man I loved MC3 and was surprised to find MJ has such a terrible experience. Then I remembered I had a psp with custom firmware and I ran it overclocked. May have been why I have such fond memories with the game.
@@mickeycoolmouse Ah, yes. If you have the PSP CPU at 333MHz, that would alleviate a lot of performance issues, indeed. The game was still fun enough for me to clear it, but the frame rate and loading times were definitely sub-par in MC3 for PSP, hence why I'm on the contrary, surprised that people often prefer MC3 over MCLA Remix, as the latter has pretty much the same gameplay elements and run so much better.
I played it on PS2 back in the day and absolutely loved it. I remember calling my parents into my room when I unlocked the Chevy Chevelle because it was my absolute favorite car and having it in the game blew my mind.
Just a quick note: FlatOut Head-On is based on FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage, which is technically the third game in the series but is really more of an HD remake of FlatOut 2. The reason I wanted to clarify this detail is that the actual game called FlatOut 3 is a horrendous mess and Bugbear had nothing to do with it.
Ill say that it's based on FlatOut 2, only difference from FlatOut 2 it has Carnage Mode and Soundtrack of UC. Everything is from FlatOut: 2. IMO.
@@digit4lagony it has the gameplay and additional features from UC tho
@@AlexMrShot So, I said that it includes Carnage Mode ;)
YES another PSP video.
Thank you so much Jason! I have 4 PSPs and recently replaced my PSP 3001’s black shell with a clear housing. A clear PSP looks so cool!
SO stoked to see you back covering PSP games! Loved the video!
Great video MJR! I have most of those games and I agree the PSP is a racing game powerhouse. One game worth seeking out is ‘GTI Club Supermini Festa’, based on the arcade game. It’s a gorgeous looking little game, a bit shallow but lots of fun.
Hell yeah the PSP library is so good
Return of the PSP! Great video Jason. Just finished tour mode on Burnout: Legends the other day! About 35% through crash mode. Great game 👍🏻
I'm literally drooling for that PSP racing collection. I'm happy to find someone who gives PSP the recognition it deserves
Hey Metal Jesus, great seeing a special video dedicated to racing on the PSP.
About a year ago I bought my first PSP as I was missing console gaming living temporarily having moved from Sweden to the UK that was gradually becoming more and more permanent. A year has passed and yeah, inspiration around that time with your hidden gems videos and buying guide got me to the crazy point where I now have 7 PSP systems and around 220+ games.
Racers are close to heart and the PS2 era was my joy so collecting for the PSP was a really fun time for me. I got obsessed and looked for all the racers I could find. Then came the dilemma, what is a racer so I had to redefine and went to games that are an actual race or where the car owns a central role. Not sure anymore as I guess you have the same struggles there. Is Pimp my ride a racer? Is Ssx not?
Here is a list of some in my collection that I was either surprised to find or had to splash some green for that are not mentioned in your video.
Cart Kings: Indian kart racing game using an actual bull and cart. You can change bull, cart and racer. Kind of stereotypical, would not say it is worth it unless you stumble upon cheap.
Ape Escape Racing: Not sure of the game title as it is a Japanese import but a racing game featuring Ape escape with some strange driving mechanics. Not played enough to give a good enough review.
Just to list some more as I am writing on my phone.
Pacman world rally
Shrek Smash n Crash Racing
Ford Street Racing LA Duel
Off Road (Land Rover/Ford)
Micro Machines v4
Pocket Racers
The fast and the furious
Twisted Metal Head on
A mixed bag as can be expected but found myself really sucked into off road which judging the cover is surprising.
I am missing a lot of easy to pick up titles, not keen on ATV, bike and rally games. They are also cheap and readily available so not to concerned. My collection of racers is around 55-65 games depending on what you define as a racer and I believe it is somewhere around 80+ racing titles that I have found when searching. Gotta catch em all coz it sure beats Pokemon. ;)
Thanks again for your videos, without them my now vast handheld collection would never exist.
All the best from one metalhead to another! /Alex
3 years later, I still come back to this video when I need inspiration on what games to pick up for my PSP. Just got the SBK superbike game tonight and considering a copy of Split/Second. Own most of the other games in this video already too.
Edit: pulled the trigger on Split/Second. Can't wait to try it!
I mostly play the PSOne Ridge Racer games on PSP. This was always my dream in the early 2000s to play them on a handheld and PSP made it come true.
I can't get the ingame music to work with these Ps1 RR games.
So glad you did another psp video metaljesus!! One of my favourite systems of all time and definitely my favorite portable. Racing is more pronounced in my library and learning about more games makes my day! Thanks again and keep up the awesome content long time fan
I really recommend Ridge racer on PSP it's created by NAMCO and it has arcade like physics. I still use my PSP until now in 2021.
I’m modding mine as soon as I receive my sd to memory pro duo stick adapter
Literally one of the only games I’ve consistently played on any system/device. Love ridge racer
@@Palacemalicee is it hard?
What about the sequel? Is it good?
@@Palacemalicee ridge racer is just do good!
That's a great reference guide. Thanks for making it.
Just bought a PSP today at my local game store and now im binge watching MetalJesus psp videos lol.
Damn this is a fine video. You went through so many games! Almost forget TDU was made for the PSP now Im tempted to go get one haha
hi, I love your channel, greetings from Mexico
How can people dislike this video?!?!? Glad to see your set up making it back into action again, unless this is prerecorded. In that case that sucks but hang in there Metal Jesus!
I spent most of this week capturing all of this gameplay footage! I'm back, baby! ;)
MetalJesusRocks I’m honored that you responded, you quickly became my favorite CZcamsr. Keep up the great work! Waiting until Friday was totally worth it for this, the PSP always deserves some love:)
Great overview video. im going to check some of these out. I have outrun and I love it.
Cool video man :D I just started playing PSP games on my PC via emulator and it's great fun !
Well done as always MJ! Can't get enough of your content. Keep up all the great work!!
As a fellow metalhead and race game enthusiast, I've really noticed a serious synergy with musicians into racing games. I've been in online racing clubs in Gran Turismo & Project Cars for all the years, and every one has a substantial number of musicians. Have you encountered other musicians enthralled with racing games too? Also, have you given any thought into steering wheel peripherals or if you might get (or already have) a wheel setup?
NFS Carbon own the city, what an amazing soundtrack, characters and art design. TDU, an incredibly chill and expansive experience. Burnout, with its insanely hilarious mechanics. Midnight Club LA Remix with its super satisfying feeling and sounding vehicles, motorbikes and interesting use of light verticality in its map design. Juiced Eliminator with its brutal "quickly pull the battery out before I lose this pink slip race" and hyper detailed tuning. Gran Turismo with its painstaking dedication to race simulation.
Man, thanks for doing this video. I just busted out my psp and started playing outrun.
NO WAY !!! I just got me a PSP 1000 again and have been searching for racing games cause Need for Speed carbon is so fricken fun.
I've literally binge watched all your old vids lol this is awesome thanks !😁
Great Video 🔥
I loved midnight club 3 for psp my fav racing game for the console
Great update to the original video!! That first video got me addicted to PSP collecting! :)
Really happy you got your house all fixed up man and look forward to whatever you have in store for the channel! The PSP was a great handheld, the first REAL console-like experience on the go. I remember being blown away by Tony Hawk on the PSP, always been a fan of the series and the graphics looked so good. Racing games too! Thanks for the great video.
"Careful, who know what strange powers inbreeding has given them" , i'm gonna have to quote that at least once a day from now on !
Hell yeah, I love these kind of videos. ♡♡♡
Always love seeing a new Metal Jesus video :) I also love racing games on the PSP. Test Drive Unlimited is one of my favorite racing games of all time. Poured so much time into that one, due to the fun physics and slow progression system.
Thank you very much for posting all the psp racing games now I can search ebay for some
Need for speed carbon was legit my favorite psp game growing up. Going from the gba to that was mind blowing
Mine too
Glad you went back to your roots of retroGaming
dis no retro dis was the ps3 for some time like 3 years before the ps3 relase. ps3 beta it had bunched of features like youtube and facebook
Really glad you got your basement issues sorted out. It looked like it was going to be a complete nightmare. Glad you are back at it!! Keep up the great videos man!
I think is awesome that this video is a bit longer and take the time to talk about these racing games, I truly enjoy your content but I do really miss your Tuesday videos, keep up the fine work Jason.
Flatout: Head On - Applied Directly To The Forehead
Burnout Legends is my absolute favorite! :)
DUDE! These are the videos that got my hooked on your channel. Currently charging my psp to play Kenka Bancho.
im glad u finnaly after a long time uploaded a gameplay video wich is the main reason i subbed :)
I never thought about it but Racing games on PSP were amazing. I remember playing 4 or 5 racing games (mostly need for speed) and always liked them. However I can't sit down at my console or computer and play a racing game, I just don't have fun with it. The other racing game I loved is on the switch and its Riptide which is like a jetski racing game that is ported from mobile but actually good. Well then there is Mario Kart but that's different.
Idiot..
Last name First name damn, what was that for?
Damn, I was hoping to see The Fast And Furious, it was on ps2 aswell. The game is pretty great and based off tokyo drift.
Thank you soooo much for this video. I was on the verge of selling my psp. But im a big fan of racing games but didnt realize there was such a great selection on the psp. Your video has changed my mind. Thank you. Keep up the good work.😁
Another great video.....going out to get me some now! Amazing what that little machine could do for it's time.
That's a lot of racing!
Pursuit Force's mechanics would be really awesome in a Mad Max game.
Your videos are awesome. Just wanna tell you that lol👍🏽
excellent, I love these videos - Six new ones added to my PSP "must get" list!
MIDNIGHT CLUB 3 TERRIBLE ARE YOU SICK!?
Midnight Club 3 has been my favorite since 2009 up until now hehe.
Fer.Jr77280 no
This is the shitty PSP knockoff we're talking about here, the full PS2 release was great
@@midgetspinner7007 nigga no.... Mnc 3 psp was also great. It was like mnc3 has been ported into the psp. Mnc la on the other hand, is terrible because of the small and empty map.....
Just because you don't like doesn't mean he likes it. You entitled piece of shit.
You need to get Modnation Racers. It's a great Mario Kart clone. But in this game you can create your own characters, karts and tracks. There's a PS3 version and a sequel on PS Vita.
This is why I subbed to you awesome game play footage and commentary. Now re do the psvita/tv and throwing some worthy remote play games as well personally I passed shadow of the colossus on my vita that way in bed and at work
I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves driving/racing/vehicle related video game titles.
2019 n still loving the psp
Same, just bought and hacked my first ever psp (psp go), I'm loving it
Wait. You didn't get a physical copy of ridge racer 2? I have it sat on my shelf (from the UK) it's a pretty good game but I always find myself playing the first more.
Great video, it convinced me to get a psp since I never had the chance to get it when it was released
Thanks. I love your pap videos
You should really try out the fast & furious Tokyo drift game. Amazing game loved it
30 seconds in and I’ve already smashed that like button!! 🤘🤘🤘
Would love more metal!! Any concerts you’ve seen or going to in the future would love to swap stories
The OG MJ is back! Great video. Like the revisit theme. Do some more.
Damn dude, your band is pretty good. Where do you guys tend to preform in the Seattle area?
Most of the background music is actually from guitar god Ethan Meixsell. He shreds like Satriani / Vai / Malmsteen

Same me too🙋♂️
Great to get another video from you MJR.
Thank you MetalJesus. Played Burnout Legends for the first time today and its awsome :) ( sorry for bad eng )
Woohoo genuine content again.
Thank you!
Initial D. I played a lot on my PSP. The big gripe I have with the game is that the steering is really slippery. Plus with the narrow tracks, you'll hit the walls a lot. But the eurobeat soundtracks are fire
Hope you've been playing hood camera and not 3rd person since it's like 2 different games with those different camera options - 3rd person is unplayable
PSP!!!! Aaaaaaa!!! I love the PSP. Such an awesome handheld for all genres. Great video!
Great video jason
You missed Colin McRae Rally 2005 Plus and Dirt2 for sure
Dirt was my favorite
My psp is a Wipeout Pure / Pulse device.
Same! If your PSP is hacked, bump up the clock speed to 333mhz. It really helps stabilize and boost the frame rate of Pure and Pulse.
Ha, mine too.
Ridge Racer series will stick on me and will always be my favourite for the rest of my life.
Played the original when I was around 11 on the PSP alongside Ridge Racer 2. And couple of years later, I also played Ridge Racer 6 on the 360. Such an amazing drifting/racing game and I'm glad I've experienced it for myself.
Great video!!
Who had a psp and still plays it in 2021 I do
Omfg you went too fast on the initial d one . Its my favorite even if you dont speak japanese the soundtrack is Amazing and the race experience is super fun.
Good to know! I'm lost in that game not knowing Japanese LOL
@@MetalJesusRocks also watch initial d itself while you're at it. I'm not really into anime but initial d is absolutely amazing.
I still have my PSP! split second along with burnout are some my favorite racing games too glad to see you also enjoy these. I feel like I'm the only one buying PSP games in my town. Not a bad thing
Nice!! I need more racing games
Burnout Legends has to be one of my favorite racing games right behind Need for Speed Carbon...
Because those were the two racing games I really had for my psp.
