sir how can a party may get more seats than votes in the legislature in fptp system
Dude it is even in the ncert but for a help... Suppose in an election in say 3 districts suppose the winner party got only 12,14, and 16 percent of votes in all three the total vote is 42 percent but the opposition they even less than it say 10,8 and 6 which is equal to 24...si as for fptp the winner party is of 42 percent votes as it gains the highesr number of votes there is no relation of majority but it is about being the highest

Its not about majority its about distribution of seats on the basis of votes... How much votes u get that mny seats u recive

Israel and natherland are the countries who have adopted the PR system
Which system is fair ?
It's hard to unilaterally claim that one is better than the other but in recent times a lot of questions have been asked over how fptp ends up denying the people a majority based candidate to one who just ended up having the most votes (Someone has won an election with only 10% of votes). PR is said to be more encompassing of the people's mandate since it gives representation based on the share of votes a party got.

Thank you for your comment! You are absolutely right, in a proportional representation system, the number of seats a party gets is based on its share of the vote. However, the candidates still need to win a majority of the votes in their district in order to be elected.

In PR system.. it is not necessary for candidate to win with (50%+1) majority...but in video it is vice versa??????
