  • How could Modi win with 31% votes? How could Donald Trump win elections with 3 million less votes than Hillary Clinton? All this is possible because of the way voting systems are designed. Different countries have different ways of voting. I explain various ways leaders are elected across the world -
    1. First Past the Post Voting
    2. Instant Run-off Voting
    3. Proportional Representation
    4. Two round Voting

@@HoneyHoney-vx4wr bro do you know what's the job of a journalist? To ask the questions that a normal citizen won't get a chance to ask! And that's what dhruv is doing. He's asking the same questions as a journalist would.
Sadly, in the modi government the journalists aren't given the freedom to openly criticize govt actions or policies. That's why dhruv has to live overseas and shoot his videos or else they will threaten to kill him or harm his family. (as they did with abhishar Sharma)
Channels are pressured to not have journalists criticizing the govt. If the channels don't agree, their airing is stopped during peak hours or the bjp party members aren't sent to do a debate on the channel.
That's like dictatorship ruling. Best example is NDTV. But they still choose to speak freely about the problems and bjp doesn't send representatives to NDTV. That affects their business TRP.
All these communal disharmony between the majority and minorities is only going to badly effect small businesses.
The best leverage of this situation is to corporates as they function in a democratic manner..
This situation in our country makes rich get richer at a faster pace. Kudos to looters 😭♥️🇮🇳

I would like to add some details for the German system.
1.There is a 5 % threshold for parties. (But candidates of a a party with less than 5% can enter parlament if they win a constiuency with first past the post. This was the case in the 1990s with the Green party and Socialists)
    2. There are levelling seats and overhang seats. They are meant to balance mismatches between First vote (first past the post vote or direct candidate) and Second Vote (party vote). To be honest noone really understands how that works exactly. But due to 7 different parties in the current parliament, there are getting more and more which means that parliament has more and more members. We ought to tackle that.
3 The problem with the vote for the party is, that you don't always know will sit in parliament in the end. Parties do say who is one the list, but if one of their 'big shots' doesn't make it( Eighter because they do not win their constiuency or the overall result is too bad) one of the elected backbenchers pulls back for whatever phony reason, and is replaced by the big shot.I find that quite frustrating.
Most party leaders run as a candidate in a consticueny and are no. 1 on the party list. Winning the constiuency in first past the post is simply just prestige.

I also think so and agree with you. But there is one problem in India to implement the preferential system of voting and that is India's huge population. Australia's population is much lower compared to India. So, if preferential system of voting is applied in India, then it is not possible to manually calculate it. So, software based calculation will have to be made which might increase the chances of tampering or hacking. But of course, if that system is implemented properly with due due protection, that will be the best..

It is an ideal system to conduct voting but it's realistically very difficult to implement at the scale and magnitude of Indian voters
It will be very difficult to explain rural voters from the most distant parts of our country the preferential voting system
And lastly the major problem is that the Election Commision in our country isn't independent of political influence whose best interest will be to keep the current system going

Correct me if u disagree with me.
Actaully me hota kya hai ke hamare ek MP ko hame chunnna hota hai ,to us time voting ke waqt waha 15 se 20 candidates khade hote hai aur jab result aata hai to hame pata chalta hai ke
100 me se 18 vote A ko mile 12 vote B ko mile aur baki sabhi candidates ko 10 se kam vote mile.
To the point is that ke 100 me se 18 votes lane wala candidate waha ka MP banjata hai, jab ke proportinately 82% logon ne use vote hi nahi.
Solution: ek tarika hai mere nazar me ( agr is pe vichar kiya jaye to)
Wo tarika ye hai ke 2 stage voting system
Jahan par 1st stage me upar wale results hame milenge. Aur uske baad jo 2nd STAGE hoga usme ham top 3 candidates ko hi allow karenge.
Fir janta ko un tino me se kisi ek ko chunna hoga. Aur us tarha fair MP select hoga.

Instant run-off voting system is the best... It is also used in Delhi Bar Association's elections. But there is an addition. Anybody who gets less than 20% of 1st preference votes is not considered for next round. For example, all other candidates get diverse voting from 1st preference to last preference. But Hrithik gets 15% first preference votes and most of the 2nd preference votes. Akshay has only 10% first preference votes. So, normally only Akshay would be eliminated, and Hrithik's score would be the highest. But with this addition, Akshay and Hrithik are both eliminated because their first preference votes are less than 20%, and hence their second preference votes would go to other candidates. I think that this is really good system.
