- Here I put my bushcraft skills to the test. I find a tipped-over tree and build a survival structure out of it. As usual, I have some good beers and cook some dinner over the fire.

Mr Bananas 🍌 using that ax as a beer holder was the coolest thing I’ve seen on the internet this year!! Bravo Sir! 🥇🏆🏅
Haha thanks man! I think I'll have to keep that going from here on out.
@@CampingwithSamBananas aren’t you afraid a bear will eat you ?
Haha no, there's no bears near here
I just came in from a fire, good to see you Sam. Lost my brother recently and my channel may be changing. Not sure where my future will lead me yet, keep up the good work.
Sorry to hear that man. Wish you the best moving forward bud.
What a super great time in the woods with Sam 🍌. Thanks for taking us along bud. Brian
Hi Brian, thanks man!
Another episode with Sam Bananas! A great way to end a Sunday night. Can’t wait to see another Co-Op with Kevin. Keep up the great work. The Very Best…Bill
Thanks Bill! I'm excited to film another video with Kevin as well
It’s Sunday and you posted a new video that is awesome!!!Love watching your new camping videos can’t wait for more thanks
Thanks my man!
I want that camp axe 🪓 Cool shelter stealther 🍌👍
Thanks man! Link to the axe in my description.
Great camp site Sam. Love your beer holder, that’s a brilliant idea. Thanks for taking us along with you.
Glad you enjoyed it my friend!
You’re one of the you tube channels I look forward to a new episode from. The camp set up was great. It takes a lot of work.. very best 🍻
Thanks so much man! Cheers 🍺🍌
I enjoyed this one so much it seemed as though it was only a few minutes long. The shelter could not have been built any better. If you are a beginner I cannot wait to see what you do as an expert.
Joe I appreciate the kind words as always my friend!
Need more experience to make a smooth video. Too much wasted time.
Nice camp Sam, all that effort really payed off. Nice spot and it's hard to beat camping during the autumn / winter season. Anyway, well done buddy !
Thanks man, nice to see ya!
Another great camp, another great video. Thanks for the great entertainment, and thanks Mrs Bananas for the editing.
Thanks Michael! Very much appreciated my friend.
Always glad to get an alert when you post a new video! Same thing with Kevin! Love you dudes!
Thank you!
That’s a good way to keep the weight down on the ol’ backpack. An axe, and saw to make your own shelter. Great stuff, Mr. Sam
Absolutely, you got it. Way more work upfront, but very little tear down the next day.
These videos are great fun to watch Sam. Have a good year - you, Mrs. Bananas, and family.
Hi friend! You have a good year as well now
Awesome video awesome campsite and thank you for taking us with you
Thank you for watching!
Beautiful place. I've always loved sleeping in natural shelters.
Nice job Sam. Always a good time, thanks Mrs B.
Hey bud! Nice to see ya
This was a nice, cozy, peaceful, quiet and great video Sam.
Love what you do brother!
Thank you! Glad you liked it bud
Nice build Sam just be careful when you wake up you don't bump your head on that log. 👍
Haha right! Nice to see ya bud
@@CampingwithSamBananas Seeing the raccoon was cool. It was wondering what you are doing in his neck of the woods? I like their eyes the way they light up in the dark, Good old Rocky Raccoon.
Great stuff, Sam, very entertaining! You've got some skills, too! Awesome video!
Appreciate it thanks man!
Having spent the bulk of my life on Vancouver Island - I promise you it has remote elements. Never trust: weather forecasts...anyone who asks you to smell something or a cheap bottle opener...spend your money wisely! Hi Mrs. Bananas! 👋🏻
I hope to make it up to Vancouver Island at some point 👍
Gimme a shout when you do!@@CampingwithSamBananas
Love the axe beer holder! If you run the Tyvek through the washer for a few cycles it will help get rid of the crinkling, if you find it annoying. Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks for watching! A bunch of users suggested this tyvek ground sheet after I got a hole in my air mattress a while back. It's already been through the wash about 3 times so that's about as quiet as it's gonna get I think.
I love hatchet work. Nice camp, Sam! Eastern forests are so weird, so open. Happy new year!
Thanks man! I agree, love the eastern woodlands.
I like that you don't half assed do things. You're enjoyable to watch.
Thank you! I'm not an expert, but I do try my best.
Always love watching your videos!
I appreciate that, thank you very much!
Awesome build. Wish I was doing the same. Thanks for taking the time to share it with us
Glad you liked it my friend.
You put a lot of work in your shelter Sam! It looks very good. I follow a few campers and I have never see them working with living wood. When I see that by one of them I will unsubscribe. Respect voor nature is very important. I love your videos. For myself I hate camping, but I love it to see other people camping. It is so relaxing. I laughed about your axe 'table'. Irma from the Netherlands
Plenty of trees in the world, don't need to worry about someone cutting a couple down. Bet there's a lot of wood in your own house.
Haha awesome! Nice to see ya Irma. Glad you are enjoying the videos
Fantastic, Sam, you sure know how to enjoy the outdoors proper.
Stuff your boots with something to keep critters out.
Money shot at 26:56 & 27:14👍
You definitely got Kevin beat on the brats, sorry Kevin.
Haha Kevin is the man, but not sure I'm digging brats in the coals. It works in a pinch but I'd rather roast them above the fire I think.
That shelter looks great. Thanks for the upload Sam!!!
Nice to see ya Peter, thanks for watching !
Bushcraft the art of drinking beer in the woods usually around some sort of bonfire..,Have fun stay safe.
LMAO! I was wondering where you've been
Great seeing you camping again buddy. Take care always and regards to Mrs. Banana.
Hi from Mrs 🍌
That looks like the perfect dinner quick good and easy.
Yes sir, I agree
I'm reminded of the times when my family went to Valley Stream State park.
Sam my man bananas I hope you had a great new year and a merry Christmas.
Haha I'm getting wished Happy Holidays by Edward Holliday 🤣 Cheers my friend 🍌🍺
I love your raining camping videos there are the best 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Got two more of those coming up next!
Awesome, you made a good shelter., 3 good walls., 🤙
Right on, glad you liked it!
I loved it! One of the better made vids on debris shelters. You were honest and upfront about everything. I could not find fault in anything so you get a "good job" and a respectful nod of recognition.
But to be honest, I'm not a big fan of debris shelters. I've built them and used them and for the most part was not a fun experience. And not worth the effort put into it. Oh and as a pro tip: Go ahead and use that tarp as needed. In fact I'd recommend using it anyways.
Appreciate that my friend! I agree the tarp is much more practical. In reality, a tent or hammock is even more practical. It's just about the fun and the experience of trying. Thanks for watching and it's always nice to see you in the comments. Cheers 🍺🍌
The honest reality of your videos have me addicted. Love the content. You got my subscription.
I appreciate it thanks man!
Great video! Great find that ready made ridge line! Easy Lean to shelter made!😊 Nice shelter build for someone not that bushcraft experienced! Hope you had a good sleep! Loved that raccoon footage! Be well and stay safe!
Thanks man, glad you liked it!
Thanks Mr. Bananas!
Good beer and a love of Monkey Shoulder, the mark of a fine person I salute you.
Thanks man, nice to meet ya!
Great video. That looked like a nice comfy camp.
Thanks! It really was, I genuinely enjoyed it
WOW! Cool !No tarp , no tent...Like !
Thanks!
One of the tightest stick and leaves shelter I have seen, Good job. Subbed.
Very much appreciated, thank you!!!
Hello 🤗
I've been waiting for the video 😁
Long fallen trees are very useful✌
Oh, raccoon🦝?😦
Tent ⛺ I'm worried that I won't set up
But I'm glad we had a safe morning 😊
I'm looking forward to the next time too✌
Have a great year🎈
Thanks you have a great year too!
I think maybe the raccoons just wanted a lil nip of the ole banana flask 🦝
Hahaha you might be right, hi Kev!
@@CampingwithSamBananas Hola senior plátano
Thanks Sam, great camp. Best wishes from London, England.
Thanks Ian! Glad you enjoyed it
25:30, nice . Tony Paco would be proud
Yes, love bushcraft, love forest. Have fun my friend

I LOVE this channel!! Thanks Sam your channel is great to watch!!
I appreciate that, thanks man!
That weather your having looks amazing. Nice day to bush craft sam.great video. I live in oregon so this time of the yr we have no sun..just relentless monsoon.
My buddy is in Seattle he's telling me all about it lol! It's been unseasonably warm here
Outstanding shelter! I want to do something like that some day. The hatchet beer holder was also a great idea. Thank you.
Glad you liked it my friend!
Love your videos! Your music at. the end is great! Tell Mrs Banana hello. That was a nice sheeter.
Thanks! Also hi from Mrs 🍌
28:58 one of my favorite hymns Awesome Sam!
Mine too brother
Great job... Excellent concept .. you have progressed a lot Sam... Great job...
Appreciate that! I've been working. Hope to do more bushcraft in the future.
Take your time brother... You do and be the best you can... Love ya man....
Good stuff Sam. Nice shelter. ✌️
Right on, thanks man!
Hell yeah brother. Outstanding AF
Thanks man!!
hahaha One time I waited on my deck in the dark in the middle of the night just to get a picture of the skunk that would come through and eat the cat food we left out there for our shy cat. I got an epic picture of a skunk with no zoom who was maybe 5 feet away from me.
I thought I was badass for that until I was watering the plants in the middle of the night because the entire daytime was too hot to be out there gardening. I had the hose on one of the big trees and was reading a book on my phone using all kinds of night vision settings. Out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw our shy cat coming up. He was shy but he would let me pet him sometimes because I rescued him as a kitten so I assumed it was him.
I leaned down and casually petting what I thought was my cat but it was actually a skunk. Both the skunk and I were alarmed. I could tell that the skunk wanted to be petting but was afraid of me and, frankly, I felt the same way. In any case, I just pretended as if I couldn't see the skunk and even called the skunk by the name of the cat who I thought it was. This let the skunk back up a bit and go by me at a slightly greater distance and neither of us were worse off for the encounter.
This was a great video. I liked your shelter. Perfect for a night like you had. I know it's a lot of work and I don't think you get to call yourself a beginner for much longer lol. Loved the music at the end as well. Ty for the hard work!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it and much appreciated
You proved your prowess with a saw and axr to build your shelter in no time! It's a shame you couldn't have stayed another night for all the work you put into it! Nice job! In a real survival situation that tarp would have been the way to go to save you energy. But without a tarp the shelter would keep you fairly dry in a light rain.
Thanks man! Yes you're totally right for a survival situation. For this I just wanted to test my skills. Mostly just have fun and make a video for everyone to enjoy! I'll be back there at some point this winter for sure.
Absolutely love the axe beer holder 😂 that’s fricking awesome dude
Thank you!! I liked it a lot too 🤣
Gonna be great when you and Kevin from small plots colab again. You guys are really entertaining to watch. Good content as usual man
I'm excited too my friend!
Cheers from Ontario 🇨🇦
Cheers bud!
Great one Sam!
Thanks Fred, glad you liked it bud!
Cool idea using your axe as beer holder. 👍 Great camping site and camp setup. Awesome shots of the raccoon. I hope he didn't roam around your camp and keep you up.
Hi Karen! Nah I didn't hear from him after that but I was a little nervous after, knowing I had to sleep exposed in my shelter.
The old banana flask 😮
Found your channel and subscribed. You make your videos pleasantly pleasing to watch so enjoyable. Backtracking to see your older videos. Thank you for sharing❤
Thanks glad you like them!
Another great one Sam
Thanks Rick, nice to see ya man!
Man Sam, that was a really neat video, I there were so many things I enjoyed all the way through, how you showed how you built the shelter and the little touches you added, using the axe like a place to rest your beer, the hot dog cooking sticks and more. All around great. Would love to see more as you dive deeper into bushcraft.
Thanks so much man! I do plan to get more and more into bushcraft type stuff. Very excited for it this season. Also plan on doing some hot tenting too!
Loved how u used the ax to hole ur beer and love the build when u going to do some more hammock camping
Dude! I got a winter hammock, so I'm planning to do at least one this winter. I want to do some more hot tent camping, but it's been super warm except for like one week cold snap
Really nice setup
Thank you!
The axe beer holder is a smash hit , should have used the handle as a hat holder , I wish it was raining lol , as always I enjoyed your video , I can’t wait for the next one! , ps , it’s been a while since we seen any drone action , take care , good night 👍🖖🙏🐝
Hey bud! Glad you liked it. By the way the next one is already shot and it's a rain camp in a cemetery. Lots of rain still here
@@CampingwithSamBananas it sounds like it’s gonna be good !
I agree with the comment below, pretty cool, will have to remember that one, nice shelter for a beginner, looks like you been watching Corporals Corner.. tell Mrs. Banannas hello .
Absolutely! Been watching CC for years. Learned a lot from him.
I really enjoyed this video. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much!
Hello sam. Wow what a cool time u had. Great shelter it was just right and it looked exhausting lol. But it looks like u had a blast.. good goin Sam banana 🍌 man!!
Thanks man! Glad you liked it! This is a great spot, need to make back here this winter.
Great first time shelter. If you wanted to weather proof it your right. A tarp instead of leaves.
Yep for sure, but I wanted to try it with natural thatching. I really don't think it would have held against much rain though. Maybe a sprinkle.
Very Cool
Thanks!
Great videos!!
Thanks!
Happy new years buddy! From my family to yours :)
Happy new year Sam looking forward to to more videos
Happy New Year Andy!
Good job!
Thank you! Cheers!
You're awesome!

Sam, I hope all is good with you and you aren’t at ground zero of that train accident😅 another great video! Please keep it up!
Dude thank you so much!! Very much appreciated my friend. I am in northern Ohio, but luckily I'm far enough away to not be impacted. Fingers crossed, I'll have a new video out this weekend brother.

Looking good Sam
Much appreciated my friend!
Awsome video
Thank you!
Nice video Sam.
Thank you!
Next time lat down a bed of rocks in your fire pit it will radeat heat even after the fire goes out also build a fire wall about 4 feet high and that will reflect the heat back toward your shelter. Great video! Ps. I'll have to try those 🍻
Glad you liked it! Didn't have time for all of that on this trip but I may go back in the future and add improvements
Hey my cousin and I found this while squirrel hunting! Cool to see the video behind it now
And your fero rod is still there
Dude I've been looking everywhere for that, haha! Thanks for letting me know. Very cool, feel free to use the structure as a deer blind, I didn't leave any cordage behind, so it's all just natural materials.
@@CampingwithSamBananas we started a fire with it and hung it back up in the shack you made. It’s an excellent squirrel spot
Much appreciated my friend.
That's a good shelter.
Thank you!
Happy new year Sam!
You too bud!
your videos are very good 👍👍
Thanks bud I appreciate that
If you would check the grapevine was probably not dead ! The sap goes down in winter just like a tree. Grouse. squirrels and birds depend on them for food. Never cut one unless absolutely sure and I don't know how to tell easily and I'm a 70 year old outdoorsman.
Pretty sure it was dead. I camp in these woods years round. I've been eyeballing that exact same spot for over a year for a shelter build. I've never seen vegetation on that vine. Also it snapped when I bent it, pretty clear sign it's dead. I do appreciate your concern and I'm with you on it.
Good job on that Sam.
Thanks!
Good 👍
Thank you!!
Great video 😄👍🍌🏕️
Thank you!
Great job son! Getting some skills!
