COZY HOT TENT in FREEZING WEATHER. BEST HOT TENT for WINTER CAMPING

- This video is all about being warm and comfortable in a hot tent. Camping can be simple and relaxing and that's what I wanted when I headed for the frozen forest. That's where I have a little hot tent waiting for me. It's covered in snow, but it's made for the extreme conditions. Once I get the fire roaring in the stainless steel stove, I have a delicious, humungous hamburger and hot tea. It's a perfect night. Snug and cozy in a snowy hot tent in freezing weather.

I lived my first 19 yrs. of life in and around the Michigan area and I learned to hate winter with a passion. It made farm living so much harder on both humans and animals. After serving in the military (early 1970's) I went to Florida to live and don't regret doing so. I'm happy for your outdoor camping passion and hope you live many years of outdoor enjoyment with your friends and family. I watch every episode of your camping life and really enjoy seeing your enthusiasm being lived out. May peace be with you and many blessings for the new year to come.
I've lived in upstate NY, South Dakota, and Texas. I've visited all of the U.S., including Florida. The best place of all is upstate NY. We have an abundance of fresh water, low humidity, four spectacular seasons, beautiful forests, and if we're lucky, a good snowstorm or two in the winter. Each year, we pray for freezing weather to kill the bugs that might be tempted to creep up north of the Mason Dixon Line. We haven't had much luck in this regard for the last few years. Perhaps it's climate change?I found Florida to be too hot and crowded along the coasts unless you're near certain Panhandle areas like Mexico Beach.
@@chiapagringaAgreed. Florida has very few positives if any.
Adaptation is what's missing in many peoples lives. I moved to northern Georgia in 1993 just because of the people moving into Florida. Many northerners did not want to adapt to our southern ways and instead have been changing things into what they have left behind in the north. It has ruined all that we had. I'm very pleased where I am and hope it remains this way for years to come. @@chiapagringa
Very well said and thank you for your service 🎆🇺🇸
@@kandcdish what kind of changes are they trying to make?
I am an 82-year-old woman watching from deep in the Missouri Ozarks. I spent 65 years in Wisconsin where it seemed to be winter six months of the year. That said, I love seeing you cope with and relish the white stuff. I am subscribed and look for notification that there is a new video to enjoy.
Hi Connie. I really loved getting this comment from you. I hope you have a great week. Jay
Dude I love these type of video, Im a retired Army Veteran and Im I have so much time on my hands now and Im slipping into depression cause I have nothing to do now. Ive been watching video like this and its giving me inspiration to give it a shot. Thank you for sharing your content 🙏
So easy to take for granted the effort that goes into these videos! The exposure 👌 the audio 👌 the drone shots 👌 list goes on. Been so nice watching your channel grow over the years Jay, you really deserve it!
Thanks so much Mike. Jay
Mr. J. I think you've become a pretty good teacher as you explain and demonstrate everything you do....from starting stove fires to chopping wood to the unusual warm winter temperatures up north. I do enjoy your videos and especially those night skies. They are so amazing.
Had my UP-5 for a while now. Love it. I actually had to learn to bank my tent stove a bit lighter, as it actually gets too hot in the tent if you don't. My first time in extreme cold (-30 f) I was worried about being too cold so stoked the tent stove pretty good, and the inside hit over 80 f. Had to open the windows and door.
Truly, the only downside to this tent is the weight. Can't be helped to make a tent this good, but it's not something you want to carry for a long distance.
One thing I will say is that the tent bag seems a bit big and loose for the tent when you get it. If you add their footprint, you can stuff it into the "extra" space. Which will turn the tent bag into what we consider normal. ie Tight packed, heh. Of course, this adds more weight to the bag, but absolutely worth it, imo.
A very nice weekend in the wild. Can't begin to say how much I enjoy every video. Thanks for all the effort that goes into making them for us to watch. Wishing a Happy New Year to everyone in 2024.
The best way to spend 30 minutes after new years lunch, I heard the ping from my iPad and had a look, as soon as I saw it was Jay I rammed down the rest of my lunch and headed straight for the fire put my feet up and enjoyed every second, Hope you have a wonderful, healthy & happy new year.
If I had coffee at 9pm I wouldn’t sleep a wink all night. Good video, Jay! 😊

I got the exact same UP-2 and Stove too, I bought it on Nov 30 and it took about 22 days for all the pieces to be delivered. Its been raining a lot where I live. I set it up a week ago, Very easy. Because of the rain I didn't mess with the stove till yesterday, The instructions say to do the first burn outside to burn off all the oils. I did that and it was not hard to get the fire going, I use Georgia Fat Wood for a fire starter, it works, There was a little smoke at first but it got hot and had little to no smoke at all, and it being chilly I was sitting out in the open and it was plenty warm, my guess keeping the vent open at one quarter is going to keep things very warm. I am burning oak, since its a very common firewood here. Your review convinced me this was the tent for me. It's my first hot tent. You do really good content.
I can feel your passion for the outdoors, filming, and post production every time I watch your videos. I swear I can smell the wood smoke every time you start up a fire in your stoves. Keep up the good work!
LOVE YOU JAY AND THE VIDEOS! THANKS FOR THE CONTENT! KEEP EM COMIMG!

80% not subscribed??? What the heck. It's free entertainment. The least they could do is subscribe. I don't understand people who want everything for nothing.
Happy New Year Jay! The UP-5 is my favorite tent. They really thought of almost everything when making and using a tent.

Happy New Year Jay! Now when you have mild winter there in NWT Canada we have one of the coldest winters for years here in Finland. It is -26˚C in new years day. We usually have a kind of winter what you expirience there right now. It is nice to relax beside the fire place and watch your new video👍
Toast with cheese whiz before school. I did the same thing as a kid in Newfoundland. Happy New Year Jay.

Right back at you.
I love your bond with food!!! Just makes me laugh seeing you eat!!! Great video!! Keep up the good work!
My husband and I never miss watching one of your videos. You are definitely a favorite here in our house. My 14 year old son even joined us in watching this one and he enjoyed it as well 😁 I laughed a bit when you said 14°F wasn't that cold hahah! We're in NE Ohio but 14° is miserably cold to us 😂 We actually pitched a canopy and cooked out on a Blackstone griddle in the snow today and it felt a bit like one of your videos 😁 Thanks for encouraging us to get outside and enjoy even the bitter cold days! Happy New Year to you and your family!
Jay I have truly enjoyed your videos very much. You make every thing so com and peaceful. You do a great video, keep it up.
Jay, I discovered your channel today, Jan 3, 2024. I liked and subscribed. I have added you to my rotation of Joe Robinet, and the Baird Brothers camping/bushcrafting channels. I love watching you all camp and do your thing.
I watch a lot of your videos because I live the winter, snow, and camping. Here in Delaware, United States, we don't get much snow, and if we do, it doesn't stay long. We have yet to get below 20° F. So yes, your videos make me feel like I'm there.
I too moved at 21yrs to Florida. Been here 40plus years. My daughter lives in western North Carolina so I hope to move there to be with my daughter and granddaughters. Happy Blessed New Year Jay and family 🎉 Love your channel Jay!
Happy New Year from warm Ontario🇨🇦 Happy to see that you left some kindling and wood inside for your next adventure.
