  • Llano changed the laptop cooler game last year with the introduction of their Llano V12 laptop cooling pad, which blew away entire market of laptop cooling pads, even the top coolers like the IETS GT500. This impressive introduction has propelled them as the market leader in laptop coolers, and today they just introduced a smaller but more efficent version the llano v10 laptop cooling pad and it is truly impressive, as after comparing it against over 20 different coolers, it held its own the entire way through beating out even its older and larger brother the v12.

    Thank you so much for putting so much effort into making this video! I totally agree with you. I have a Razer Blade 14, and using the V10, I've also noticed a significant improvement in cooling performance. Llano is indeed a very professional company with excellent customer service!

    This video can be seen as an advertisement for the new Llano V10.
    After looking at several reviews, I can confidently say that the V12 is stronger, but it is larger and louder, and the V10 is generally for small laptops

    Guys...why not use a simple 120mm fan 12v fan ? I've just did this - put this fan under the laptop and pushed air right into the intake frame under the laptop. I even gave it 9volts to make it more quiet. Result ? i7-1370P from 95-98C went down to 80-85C and throttling or OS hiccup was finally over. It costed me...$5...or wait, maybe even $7. If I was to improve it further, I would test Peltier cell and will surely do this soon, just need to find some 12V blow, to take excessive heat from peltier.

      @skyh3r0es Před dnem

      Cleaner setup
      And also, putting a fan directly under the laptop doesnt have the same level of cooling with the sealing foam, but well it does still do the job of cooling your laptop, if the llano have like $20 - $50 price range, it would be perfect

      For ROG,almost every laptop has a rog cool boost,and if you just elevate the laptop a little bit,it will most likely prevent overheating,you don't need this fancy product.
      But hey I ain't blaming you for buying this,it really depends on you.

    • @Plague_Rat778
      @Plague_Rat778 Před 2 dny

      @Placidusax_Dragonlord well a lot of the time when I'm gaming, I like to have my blanket covering me, so I like using cooling pads so the laptop isn't being choked out. Plus, even if it's over-kill, it's worth it IMO

  • @XtianApi
    @XtianApi Před 20 dny +1

    I don't know if fancy coolers are necessary. I have the simplest large fan cooler. The fan spins quite slow because it's so big and it just has mesh above it and it's flat and that's it. It is able to bring the temperature down so dramatically I can't imagine eating anything better and I think it was like $11

    • @RyneLanders
      @RyneLanders Před 12 dny

      What cooler did you get?

    • @XtianApi
      @XtianApi Před 12 dny

      @@RyneLanders jeez. I'll see if I can find a name or something. It's probably 10 years old. Still going strong
      Edit: the closest thing I can find is the thermaltake v20. Clearly mine is an older model but that giant fan and the look of the mesh, it has to be a thermaltake.
      So if I had to buy a new one today I would probably get that because that huge fan is going to spin quite slowly because the bigger the fan the slower it can spin the quieter it is. And this model has an adjustable speed so I would definitely spin it super slowly you don't need anything faster in my opinion. A lot of these are geared towards forcing air through the laptop but to me just having the entire bottom of the laptop be ice cold is enough to dramatically drop the temperature.

    • @RyneLanders
      @RyneLanders Před 12 dny +1

      @@XtianApi so, I generally agree with the premise, but I hadn't researched it much before. after your reply, I Googled the Thermaltake V20 and found a review on Jarrod's Tech channel with an Aorus laptop (Core i7, GTX 1080). In the test the CPU thermal throttles on the desktop without the pad, and it throttles with it. The GPu did not hit thermal max sitting on the desk (presumably the CPU throttling was causing the GPU to be bottlenecked and underutilized) and so it didn't change on the cooling pad either. The temperature difference of the CPU on the pad was 0 between all fan settings and the GPU dropped around 3 degrees from desk to fan and another 3 degrees from fan low to fan high.
      The difference between that type of cooling pad and what these are doing then is quite massive. I think having that sealed connection with the foam makes the biggest difference in the hydrodynamics of the airflow and these also use a single large fan which produces more airflow vs smaller ones, to your point. Even if not quite as large as that one, these clearly do a much, much better job of cooling the laptops.

    • @XtianApi
      @XtianApi Před 11 dny

      @@RyneLanders interesting.
      Im wondering if my laptop just wasn't powerful enough to really demand max cooling. It was a large, mid-tier-GPU, laptop with an aluminum body. The underside got so freaking hot you could barely touch it. It could be that my specific model of laptop just really benefited from being passively cold from the bottom.
      Thinking about what you said, if a laptop manufacturer does a good job to keep the bottom of the laptop cool to the touch then one would think that it would not cool from the bottom passively, instead, like you're saying, you would have to shove the air through it.
      I hadn't thought about that.
      Thanks :)

  • @RyneLanders
    @RyneLanders Před 12 dny

    I think it would be really helpful if you showed the fan and vent setup on the bottom of the laptops and how those line up with the foam inserts. On my ASUS M16 RTX 4090 the fans are not in the center, they're near the outside edges of the bottom. That gives me some overlap with the foam in the Llano V13 and I think that's why I don't see the big improvements the benchmark reviews show. I wonder if the V10 being a wider rectangle base would actually give the fans on the laptop better coverage with less overlap on the foam.

  • @RyneLanders
    @RyneLanders Před 12 dny

    I got the V13 recently and perplexingly my displayed temps don't appear to be dropping substantially vs not using one (I use the Afterburner overlay to display load and temps on every CPU core) but when I touch the laptop, the top of the keyboard is nearly cool to the touch under full load, while normally it's burning hot to the touch. It's clearly doing *something* but I can't see the big temp drops advertised reflect on my measurement tools.
