    One major consideration, in fact the major consideration in my view, is that you can only increase the speed of the boat from the catch, through to just after square- off. After that, you are simply trying to hold the boat up out of the water by accelerating into the body using your arms and body, and the last bit of your leg drive.
    So, in terms of achieving maximum boat speed, it simply doesn't make sense to move your foot stretcher towards the bow, where most of your work is behind the pin...where you simply cannot get the speed, or apply the strongest part of your body... your legs to maximum effect.
