I recall my uncle having one of these. Man that thing been through hell and back. I remember it had a small dent near the front left headlight which it had to be taped because it would pop out if you tried putting back in. It had scratches on the rear bumper and the last recallable thing I remember was in the interior of the car. On of the A-pillars on the right front passenger door was missing. What might have happened was that a rock maybe flew in the car and hit it, me personally I don’t know how. But unfortunately, it officially kicked the bucket a while later.
I wonder if you even realized, when you said "let's turn on the lights" you actually turned the lights off! Although you probably still have (some) lights on because of the automatic lights.
Hello mine has so different things than yours an it s80 t6 2000 with a 67k only it's has GPS on the dash board god up an down inside an it has the windows carten an also automatically connecting to the dealer ...
The early s80s were not the best when it came to long term reliability. My family had a 99 s80 up until 2012 and it was a total money pit after 100k miles. It was very nice to be in though.
It's very reliable. My dad had a 2004 (with out the turbo), he bought it with 150,000 miles. within a year it had 205,700. Never an issue ever, he drove easily 200-275 miles a day in that. Getting in and out atleast 20 times in a day. Every time he would get out he'd have to turn the car off as to make sure no one would steal it. We treated it like a king, always cleaned in and out almost every weekend. Changed the oil often, got premium gas almost every time we filled up. We loved that car, a couple of months ago my a family member was T-boned by a car going 50 mph, right on the drivers door. We know that car did its job every day, with out complaints, and when the accident happened it repaid us by saving the person driving it. Police and doctors said they shoulve been dead, but they were not. So we bought a 2000 S80(with turbo) with 164,000 miles on it about 3 months ago. Brilliant car like our last one, the only issue is the lower control arms need to be replaced, but that's a thing on all volvo from 99-2005. This car is brilliant, amazing. The turbo, not right away will fly when you get it up to speed. It's not a sports car at all but its nice knowing you have a lot of power if you need it. The 2004 wasent a turbo, and they are massive cars. it was a bit sluggish I will say but, if you need it go it will go just not as fast as the rurbo. it was reliable and comfortable.
Brilliant your car. I think you forgot to tell us, it's a S80.

Would you recommend it?
With his knee thru front seat " really comfortable back here in the s80"

hoping to get a 1999 s80 for my first car!
me too :D
I found a 2000 for $750 that just needs a belt
I really wanna get it
This is really late, but don't ever buy the 1999, go for 2003 plus.. The 1999 has so many problems, it'll empty your wallet in absolutely no time
Que obra de arte fico triste de aqui no Brasil não ser comum ter e manter um volvo s80
I still want it.
Here in the UK this are fucking rare cars, the only ones you can buy are the 2.4s and the 2.9s which are both terrible.
Why are they terrible?
TheEmperor9985
Not enough POWER!!!
Ah yes, I can imagine. It's a heavy car.
I used to have one in fantastic condition but some idiot ran a red light and destroyed it.
+177 Racing +TheEmperor9985 I have a 2,4 140hk and it is not superfast but it has enough power :/

What are the main mechanical issues with this vehicle and at what mileage do things start to go wrong? Thanks
Timing belt needs done 100,000 miles. It's an interference engine and the valves will contact the pistons if the timing belt slips or fails.
Yes

The interior is tan on the S80 not gray
Maybe on this one. On mine it is gray. (2002) It also came in black.
I thought the T6 s80 was a 2.9 liter? Guess I was wrong
you are right! I have one, it is a 2.9l indeed.
Please show how to jump-start the car. Battery is in a weird place & has weird +/- parts.
Hi, check page 88 in owners manual - pm me and I'll mail you a pic...
Jump under the hood, under the fuse box. You don't have to do it to the trunk-placed battery.
Most m. Problem starting electric be carful to get that car for real

Yo that engine don't sound too good bro it's clicking loud hahahahaaaaa fix it or pitch it
It's a volvo, it's ment for driving, not racing.
Every volvo sounds like that, and they still run for over 300k miles... It's just injectors and some tappet noise combined.
BallinSince92 agreed, sounds like a loose belt
