I say that if a player is born and lives in Australia or has lived in Australia from the age of 13 then, they should be eligible to play for NSW in Origin if they were born or reside there same goes for QLD, and be automatically eligible to be selected to play for Australia.
However, if a player has a parent or grandparent from another nation regardless of tier grade, then they should be able to play for that country if they choose to do so as well as play Origin as they are Australian citizens or permenant residents and they are entitled to be selected to play Origin while also growing the International game of Rugby League.
The game of Rugby League is changing and the rules have to as well if we are to grow International Rugby League as well as keeping Origin competitive.

Just Australia trying to stay superior. Like he said, at best Suali’i would’ve played winger for the kangaroos, so why should they even care? He’s yet to play origin yet Kent’s still going off at him? He’s a 19 year old kid who wants to represent his nation, he’s Samoan and it’s a problem because he wants to play for them? Australia don’t need any Pacific Islanders or Māori players to have a strong contending line up yet still they name people who aren’t Australian in their extended squads purposely for this sort of media coverage, almost forcing blokes to wear the green and gold. Straighten up lads, you’re insecurities showing… there is absolutely nothing wrong with players opting to play for their respective nations. It broadens our national interest for the game, we claim it to be the greatest game of all but if you were to ask a random person in a foreign country if they knew what rugby league is they’d probably say no or either refer to the All Blacks 🤦🏽 and yet we sit here and wonder how we can gain more national interest? Now it is picked from the NRL.Australia have a wealth of talent. Yes Origin has its roots in NSW and QLD, but the game is growing and we need to evolve, simply put, Origin is the best of the very best, the test of will for the greatest of our game, it makes for best product we have in the NRL.Yes Pacific players make up 50% of teams in the NRL, however Kent needs to have more faith in Australian players, plenty of talent in the NRL, no one is disrespecting the Kangaroo jersey, quite the contrary, out of respect they call Ma to let him know. Some things are worth more than money, its heritage, its close to one's heart. Australia will field a great side, plenty of history in that Kangaroos jersey, they can win. Tonga beating the Kangaroos is a great thing for rugby league, it has revitalised the international game for the better. The fact we are talking of Tonga. Australia, NZ and Samoa possibly winning the World Cup is exciting.
