Animator here! I took care of Lucy Loud and grandma Gertie animations. I was honestly scared the game wouldn't do that well but I'm pleasantly impressed for how things turned out!

A lot still feels super low budget though. They got the voice actors but they sound phoned in, and often don't sync with or even match the animation. A lot of the animations and characters still look pretty low budget too. Not that I think either game is bad, they're just super rough.

You can tell the first one was made by a group of people that knew the game could be good but were given a shoe string budget to “prove” themselves and now they got the budget they need to make the game they actually wanted to make.
A Smash Rougelite is actually an ingenious idea. That just fits naturally into what Smash does already, I'm kind of surprised it hasn't been done before until now.

As a 3d modeler, It's very challenging to make a 2d character look really good in 3d. I made a timmy turner that looked awesome. but when you turned it around it was tough to get a 360 view And still have it look authentic. Theses guys really did it, each character looks true to their individual shows. Just seeing gir, the time ghost, and jennys mom. It gave me so much nostalgia by the way they modeled the characters and handled their animations. they are all spot on. I'm so impressed this looks like a must buy.
Critically: the first game was a failure to the competitive/core audience due to how unpolished/unfinished it was. But financially: the first game was a success because of how low the budget was, allowing for a massive return on revenue, since a lot of parents bought the game for their kids, and the publisher kept introducing the game to new markets over the span of its lifetime. While I don't have hard numbers, a CZcamsr named Nick Brawl Guy had a very good assessment of how well the game did, sales wise. That being said: I think this sequel will do way better since it is way more polished, has deeper gameplay mechanics, has lots more content overall and is being sold not at full price ($50 USD instead of $70)
Nope, got burned on the first one. Not paying another $50 (still a ridiculous price) for what the first game should have been. And $50 is still steep for what's there anyway.
I barely remember My Life As A Teenage Robot, but I was still shocked hearing the voice actress for Jenny’s mom. I thought that character would never see the light of day again.
It's Great to see how much they Improved from the First Game. Gotta say, They did a really Good job on the Model design of the Characters that needed fixing like Danny Phantom and Ren and Stimpy, Stages, Music and also the Campaign Mode.

Dude at 0:52 is El Tigre. A kid with a magic belt that turns him into a costumed superhero that doesn't know if he should become a hero like his father or a villain like his grandfather. It was a fun and cool cartoon, and it's a treat seeing him here.
24:53 You know you've watched so much SpongeBob when you can identify what Max was describing. For those who don't know, it's from Krusty Towers. Squidward wanted cookies that are similar to what his mom used to make (he was abusing the policy of Krab's hotel, which is basically "do whatever the customer requests"). SpongeBob and Krabs go to the place of Squidward's mom dressed as robbers. The mom gasps and cuts into Krabs trying to stuff a large sack onto the trunk. SpongeBob assists by beating the sack with a shovel. After giving up, Squidward's mom appears and successfully closes the trunk. Krabs was glad that they were finally able to put the _cooking equipment_ on the trunk, with the mom excited to make the cookies.

On that last point in the video, Smash actually had a multiplayer roguelite of sorts in the 3DS version of Smash 4 called ”Smash Run”, and imo it’s the most underrated mode Smash ever had. It was essentially City Trial from Kirby Air Ride but adopted for Smash. I wad always hoping that it would get expanded upon as a single player mode in Ultimate, with multiple paths, endings, more meaningful upgrades etc, but sadly that never happened. World of Light just wasn’t the same.

Personally the game is really fun and glad they’re making the game feel more unique thanks to the Slime mechanic rather than just making melee but with Nick characters. Plus thanks to having the Nickelodeon license, They have a ton of iconic shows they can uses for their roster. Heck if they wanted to, they can even bring back some of the older characters like CatDog and Toph as DLC characters so people can have their old mains back. I mean ToastMan and Jimmy’s Dad who are from the original roster are technically already in the game but as NPC and they’re even making Mr. Krab a DLC character despite him being in the background so I think the possibility are endless.

I'm impressed by a lot here but mostly by the incorporation of the old logos. Completely forgot about that blimp despite once owning a denim Nickelodeon jacket that had the thing all over it (and massive inside pockets that I have to this day never found an equal)
You should know that it's not weird to watch cartoons in your 20s, 30s, or even 40s or 50s. They are for everyone and I highly recommend checking out all the cartoons in this game

This does look like the kind of game I bought the original game for, though I will take my time this time before buying it... Max hit the nail on the head on how I feel about buying the second one. I'm very hesitant, because the first one burnt me out on all the problems it had on launch.
I was working at gamestop a couple of years ago. The games that sold very well. Was the first game, subnautica, and Forza. I was surprised how many kids were buying forza and full decked out steering wheel sets.

I remember being REALLY bummed when I got the Wii U edition and that mode was gone. I had so much fun using custom moves on it.

This does look like the kind of game I bought the original game for, though I will take my time this time before buying it... Max hit the nail on the head on how I feel about buying the second one. I'm very hesitant, because the first one burnt me out on all the problems it had on launch.

I think what Smash has over this still are its IPs and the music. Especially, the music. Smash has so many bangers

I was working at gamestop a couple of years ago. The games that sold very well. Was the first game, subnautica, and Forza. I was surprised how many kids were buying forza and full decked out steering wheel sets.

this might be the first brawler game that i actually buy instead of jus playing at peoples' houses... roguelite mode is a really good idea (the spirits thing was a good idea in smash but i dont have a switch)

I hope Max thinks about watching Danny Phantom. While the creator, Butch Hartman, isn’t that much of a good dude. That show is literally his magnum opus and has such a great plot, great villains, and great characters overall!

It would be some shit if we got Raiden or Sub-Zero as fighters in Nick All Star Brawl 2
Since Raiden Plus Sub-Zero crossed over with the Ninja Turtles in Injustice 2
And just like that, by seeing this game is rogue-lite run based, I'd dig it just for single player.
Max actually was 20 when DP came out, dude was guessing and yet somehow got it right.
