Yes and no cause if the republic had dominated the separatist too fast the people wouldn’t have hated the Jedi too much and palpatine would have the support of the people at the beginning of the empire also Palpatine would have to think of a good way to sway Anakins as it was during trails and tribulations during the clone wars that Anakins faith in the Jedi began to shift during important moments

@@amurawskiob1850 I think thats his point, its not that Palpatine was trying to do it quickly its that he needed to get the Republic in a certain political state by a certain time in the war, so the timing had to be consistently perfect. Padme threw that timing off and so forced him to revisit his plan.
This is the most valuable point of all great insight! My take on it is Star wars was also the prequels to our current government with no side being without blood on there hands. George Lucas is a genius writing storylines in phantasy realm based in reality. This is our current system in a galaxy far away. its actually insidious 😂😂😂😂 from a certain point of view 😉
ikr woulda expected the siege of mandalore, or the entire arc with the father/son/daughter, or ahsoka leaving the order, or ahsoka getting her blue lightsabers OR SOMETHING but this.????
Palpatine acts strange here. He almost sounds like that Sidious guy from the separatists. Imagine if these two are actually just one person who controls everyone and everything, that would be the biggest wtf moment.
A lot of people like to complain about the “padme politics” episodes of the clone wars but I honestly think they showcase some of the most interesting aspects of the Star Wars universe and are very valuable additions to the mythos. Padme is an awesome character, so is Bail Organa. I’m glad they got their time in the spotlight, it was well deserved
When I was a kid watching this, the Padmé/politics episodes were boring as hell, but now that I'm an adult I enjoy them. It's like a whole new show that I missed out on.
It makes him sound alien which, like in the movies, makes it more believable. Maybe his race has this entonation. If an alien doesn't talk weird in SW for me is an epic fail. That blue guy from The Mandalorian for example, what a waste, I would've been making weird fish sounds if I was casted as him.
He could, using power, but he’s patient, and has all the time in the world, a few years difference before taking over the galaxy means nothing, considering how old he already is.
@@ncard00 He isn't immortal at this point, he needed the Empires full support to even start that venture undetected. That might be why he was so agitated by this
As kids we always skipped the parts about politics, now they’re just as great as the battle scenes, since we’re old enough to understand what’s going on
I didn’t notice until the second time I watched this series through, but in almost every single scene Palpatine is in, he’s subtly manipulating everyone else, either through undermining the Jedi, the Senate, or Anakin. You don’t really notice it at first and I love that.
I feel like that’s his most genuine self, when he’s in the sith robes he’s doing his whole evil thing but right there he was having a somewhat normal conversation
If he hadn't been badly malformed by the force lightning I think we would have seen more of this side of him. He's not evil for evil's sake here, right now it's about control and power.
@@joshuasitzema9920 he’s never evil for evil’s sake and it’s always about control and power. This scene provides exquisite character development for the Chancellor showing that even Palpatine has his weaknesses and can still be overcome by the good in people. It strengthens the viewers' ties to the show. It foreshadows into the plot that Darth Sidious will meet his defeats and that his rise to power will not be a smooth, unchallenged transition. I absolutely love the way he clenched his teeth as he says "turn". You can feel his rage seething, his frustration growing. You get the sense that were it not for the fact that it would give him away, he would have killed Amidala, Organa and every other Senator on the spot. Palpatine isn't used to being outmaneuvered or beaten. He has grown so accustomed to winning, to having everything proceed as he plans it, anything less fills him with sheer rage.
That's what I got out of that scene too. I'm actually surprised that we don't see a small glimpse of his sith eyes appearing here for at least a second.
Oh man, if the republic had not gone to war she would have destroyed him with nothing but words. See in episode 1 he tried to warmonger there but it was her that put a stop to it. The assassins in episode 2 to keep her occupied while he moved all the pieces in place. Then when she was gone, he could use Jar Jar like a puppet. Damn.

“All democracies turn into dictatorships - but not by coup. The people give their democracy to a dictator, whether it's Julius Caesar or Napoleon or Adolf Hitler." ~George Lucas
In the case of Julius Caesar he did take power because he knew that the system was corrupt and actually did things for the Republic that greatly benefited its people. Therefore becoming more and more popular to the point where he was then chosen to become leader for life which violated the principles of the Republic. However because the Senate and its corruption reared its ugly head and they murdered Julius Caesar they cemented the fact that the Senate is corrupt and must be dealt with For Napoleon he was a commoner who became a king through fear will strategy and the ever-changing game of politics to the point where he was actually able to become king in multiple countries and even after his Exile, his own fellow French who were tasked to kill him should he ever return outright refused to do so and joined him willingly out of respect and love for their emperor. Eventually Europe declared War against Napoleon and declared him the enemy of the world. Adolf Hitler was a product of the first world war and the wrongful blame being placed onto Germany when it was the cause of another country and the underhanded tactics and deals at basically destroyed the economy of multiple countries which led to the Great Depression throughout the entirety of the western world no thanks to Woodrow Wilson for also getting involved which also fucked over the Middle East. And because of the huge stigma and hatred of Germans they even denied better live for the German people and Austria to the point where they basically had to do in their own misery. Hitler did rally the people and basically made Germany into a world power through Charisma tactics and more. However it doesn't change the fact that he did some horrendous things in the process but the fact that he literally made a country that was basically nothing more than a punching bag kicked into the dust into a dominant world power in no less than 10 years shows that you can actually rise above where you once stood and having Innovation that was unmatched throughout the world of that time frame and even now we still use that technology but Innovative it into a newer form ( the jet engine was a prototype that was created by the Nazis but was never utilized during the war effort as the technology was still too young ) Julius Caesar stole power because he loved the Republic and knew the corruption so he had to take it upon himself assemble the triumvirate rent and try to save the Republic from the deep-rooted corruption and died for it while exposing the corruption Napoleon was a peasant but through sheer will and patriotism he became a king and at the same time became the enemy of the world according to the rest of Europe. Adolf Hitler who fought in the first war basically had to pick himself up by the bootstraps and reinvent not only himself but the world around him.... I can give my praise to where it's due but everything afterwards was completely on him and not worthy of praise because it's pretty obvious why you shouldn't praising on those other merits and crimes against humanity itself
History is repeating itself with COVID.......on a global scale this time. Instead of the people giving their power to one egomaniac dictator, they're giving it to a cabal of luciferian control freaks who want to depopulate the world.
Some of my favorites besides this one: when Anakin hugs Ahsoka after she was revived, it shows how deep is their master-student relationship, watching Rex crying in the series finale shattered my heart into little pieces
Isn't it remarkable that the voice of one senator was able to halt a juggernaut of a politician that is Palpatine from getting what he wants? Now Palpatine is patient and is waiting for the Senate slowly overrule it, but the fact that Senator Amidala was able to persuade millions in spite of the opposition through her call for non-violence and peace is all but foreshadowing of the ultimate defeat of the Emperor. The ability to stand up and defy Palpatine (intentionally or unintentionally) is something that her son would pick up.
Jordan Hornery By then it was far too late those were the final days of the republic. Forget palpatine, the corruption of the republic itself has been being slowly revealed for decades, centuries maybe. That’s why Qui-gon was kind of a loner Jedi, because he resented the Jedi order for blindly following the republic instead of the force like they used to. The republic’s own corruption brought palpatine to power. Padme’s only one person fighting an uphill battle; she can only say/ do so much. The clone wars episodes where Padme and ahsoka met with her old separatists friend kind of explored this aspect.
@@bdrstudios3948 She would have likely beeen killed for treason if she stood up at that moment. Its nicely explained in the novel.
@Jordan Hornery There was an emergency in the Senate. People were being arrested and executed for "treason, separatism and terrorism" for smallest reasons.
"Ew, it's just a boring political arguement" I would express concern over the fact that people don't know what character development is, but I have more concern for how invested they are in their own country's politics.
Matthew Zakrzewski So you're saying that you have to be interested in or even enjoy politics to be generally informed and invested in them? That's entirely untrue. That being said, I agree with the character development part.
+Matthew Zakrzewski My opinion is that it's a good scene but is it really merit the big caps saying ''THE Best Scene Ever in the CLONE WARS''? It's interesting I just don't think it's THAT great
*+David McGinness* I've actually come around to seeing what was so great about this scene. Palpatine was surprised that Senator Padme was able to almost significantly damage his plans, something that no Jedi ever managed to get close to achieving until Luke came along.
Lmao I love how dedicated Palpy is to the villain lair theme. It’s so dark in that office! He just sits there stewing in the shadows at night, it would seem
I do like how Palpatine's office is, really. By day, it is full of light and cosy, with bright red and all... And at night it's dark and menacing, through the same color scheme. But it's not just an evil lair, it is full of art, sculpture, etc... Really representing Palpatine's knowledge. People like to depict Vader as a menacing unstoppable force, and Thrawn as a more knowledgeable and planning counterpart... But this office, in itself, make Palpatine both... He is the fantom menace, the hidden Sith both ruthless, unstoppable, but also subtle, manipulative, and very, very cunning.
@@gerardlacroix6015And he gets it all from. His master sidious would have never rose to power if it wasn't for him, which is why at the end of the day, he's actually the greatest villain of all time, not the pretender.

Jordan Hornery quite interesting that rhe left winger is one of the good ppl against authoritarian takeover. Interesting to think that it’s quite clear that a lot of right wing policies are geniunely morally incorrect
Chris take the L well yes. Nazis perpetrated jews. Civil rights was claimed to be communist in the USA as a way of the right wing media and the country in general trying to keep black people oppressed. Most freedom fighters were left wing. The USA destroyed South America by instating right wing dictators. Any view about equality or civil rights stems has always been backed by left wingers and been pushed away by right wingers. We had an entire Second World War because of the evils of far right politics. And yes communism is proved to not work but moderate left wing policy has ALWAYS benefitted the common good way more that traditional lez-aiffair right wing conservatism. As a society we have become more progressive due to the implementation of more left wing policies. Authoritarianism is always combatted by those who believe the people deserve more human rights and equality and these are moderate left wing ideas. All right wingers would be monarchists two hundred years ago. Look at England without left wing policy introduced in the 1800s. Cholera everywhere because the conservative government did not care about the poor with a traditional conservative lez aiffair attitude.
If you think about it, Palpatine was midly inconvienced by Padme. Even though he seems impressed, even with the majority of power in the republic, his plans were on hold because of Padmes speech. To gain power is like a game of chess. In order to win you must lose a couple of pieces first.
The brilliance of him playing three sides of the board ensured that the game was over the moment the Clone Wars started. Neither the Republic, nor the Seperatists had a chance to win. Even if someone took out Palpatine, the Galaxy would be at war for years to come and whoever won, would have won a heap of rubble.
@Dark Vader Yes, or at least the Sith in form of Palpatine himself. After all, he tried to become immortal and never taught his apprentices or diciples enough to be a danger to him. He just miscalculated once out of arrogance. Even being 99.9% right in his vision of the future left a 0.1% chance of Vader turning against him. Just as Yoda said, "In motion the future is."
@@grayscribe1342 technically there was a 100% Vader would turn against Palpatine, as Anakin destroying to Sith was a prophecy, and a prophecy always has to come true no matter what.
I find it so intriguing that in his quest for completely rule of the galaxy, that he has made himself so powerful through the dark side to gain power, yet he's still curious even with all that power someone else who just has a voice can do what he can't.
If I ever have kids, they're watching Star Wars material chronologically, including The Clone Wars and Rebels. If I had the opportunity to watch the films/shows for the first time again I'd love to see the development as it progresses naturally rather than knowing what's coming up.
At the same time, there's a certain charm to seeing things expanded and having the excitement of not knowing HOW they're going to get out of a bind instead of IF they're going to get out of a bind, you know? Plus, there's a lot of in-jokes and nods to the future series that you would miss. TCW might of had issues with the old EU canon, but at least the writers were nerds like us.
Luke Danger What issues with EU? Lucasfilm stated that TCW would outrank the entire EU in their canon hierarchy (TCW had it's own tier immediately below the films) As far as in-jokes go...I agree. the correct viewing order is 4-6, then 1-2, then TCW, with 3 finishing off. The original trilogy loses a lot of it's power if you watch the prequels first. 1-2 are a primer to answer the question where Vader came from, as Obi-Wan is solely a source of "Half truths and hyperbole." TCW then gives weight and context to the events in 3. Without TCW being injected, Anakin comes off as a whiny spoiled brat.
Enraged Sith Continuity. A lot of fans hated TCW because it pushed a lot of the EU to the side. IE, Adi Gallia originally was one of Grievous' kills in the comics, Ryloth was supposed to have pretty much no rotation with a night and day side (which was one they were planning on doing originally before they realized they would more or less be making a Mustafar planet location wise), etc. etc. A lot of people gave TCW flak for that. Mind, with most of the EU now being shuffled to "Legends", that's not so much an issue but that's another can of worms. But yeah, 4-6 is a good start, followed by 1, 2, TCW, and Revenge of the Sith. Yeah, definitely want to do ROTS after watching TCW since without TCW, ROTS comes off as Anakin just being a whiny bitch instead of being a fall that had been built over the course of the years. Hell, Ahsoka walking away from the Order was perfect: Left a permanent mark that Anakin would regret and leave him pissed at the Jedi for kriffing the entire situation up and throwing her under the bus then having the audacity to just write it off as the Force testing her or something.
Enraged Sith I like the way you look at things. That's definitely something to consider when the time comes to introduce the next generation to the franchise.
+Sir Frankie Crisp Notice how it only fails near somebody who trusted him well into the point where he became Emperor though.Hate to say this but I'm hinting towards the possibility that the blue guy knew this whole time who he was serving and continued to do so in order to get a better placement in life.
His name is Mas Amedda. I'm fairly confident he was in on it from the very beginning. Although I don't know what happened to him after the clone wars ended.
nothing related to clone wars happened in 2020 though? there was that abomination called season 7 which was made purely to get fans back after the sequel trilogy pissed them off but thats not the clone wars.... there were 2 more seasons planned (season 7 and 8) before the disney buyout happened and disney cancelled everything. there were several amazing scenes that were being worked on which you can find here on youtube including but not limited to boba fett killing cad bane in a duel.
Yug Inavoviristêncio yea. Palpatine "I'm going to put my sith robe on... How do I look?" Yoda "Chancellor. A sith robe, you have on. The sith lord, are you? Palpatine "Uhhhhhh. No." Yoda "😐" Palpatine "😨" Palpatine "Ok. I'm a sith lord." Yoda "Then a sith lord, am I too.
Considering that Clone Wars was the first piece of SW media i have ever seen, as a kid, i would have no idea Palpatine was a sith lord or why this scene was so ominous
I love that when the camera was pointing at Palpatine, it seemed that he is talking to us, viewers (which also means it is breaking the fourth wall) but actually, he was speaking to Mas Amedda. Nice touch in there. You got me.
@BilledMemories It sums the whole goddamn show. Clones, the senators and even the Jedi are just pawns who move on the map. The whole war is orchestrated by Palpatine. Palpatine causes indirectly chaos in the Senate and senator of Umbara gets killed. Umbara joins the Separatists because of this and clones invade Umbara. All of the Clones, the Seppies and the whole scenario of the Umbara arc has been put into motion by Palpatine even though you don't see it or hear it. You just need to connect the dots. Sometimes, like with this scene, all don't go according to Palpatine's plan and then it is a big deal. But otherwise when everything is going like he wants you don't see him or hear him.
Palpatine saying to "let the wheels of the Senate turn" is chilling since he IS the Senate, due to his involvement on both sides of the conflict as the mastermind who takes advantage of a democratic institution, vulnerable to war with billions of desperate citizens-Republic or Separatist-seeking an end to the conflict.
it's just so ridiculous that no one ever thought of placing a hidden camera with a microphone in Palpatine's office xD "As of now the senate is under the control of a sith lord, called Darth Sidious" HMM WELL WHO COULD THAT BE? lol
The CIS would gain massive approval and support after that xD So either way the Old Republic would have fallen. I suppose Dooku would have been the victor of the two.
Star Seeker Probably yes, but I still would have tried everything possible, as it was quite obvious that it could only be Palpatine who was the Sith Lord behind all this.
***** Star Seeker and don't forget Sate Pestage. He was the general servant for Palpatine. It's really sad that he was never shown in any movie or episode. I'd say he's like Père Joseph for cardinal Richelieu.
I may be Chancellor now, but I never forgot my origins. When I was just a boy, growin' up in the small town of Gaffney, South Carolina, my father always said to me "Boy, you're a useless sack o' sh*t and you ain't gonna amount to nothin'" I never listened to my father. Vote Underwood this Galactic March
+Bidmartinlo you can just picture him having a one on one meeting with jedi about some planet in the outer rim that the Council and the Senate aren't quite sure how to help, and Palpatine just looks to the camera and says "What every martyr craves more than anything is a sword to fall on, all you must do is sharpen the blade, hold it at just the right angle, and three, two, one-" followed by the jedi declaring they will go help this planet while Palpatine pretends to discourage him
What's so great about this scene? That's easy. Palpatine has come to realize that a simple senator has inadvertently put a monkey wrench in his master plan to create the Galactic Empire. It shows that he doesn't hold ALL the cards in the war (and there have been several other instances of hiccups in his plans that were eventually undone).
George Lucas has stated that Palpatine is literally the Devil in Star Wars... Now seeing this scene backs up that statement strongly ... The Devil has a lot of power and influence in our world, yet his power can be diminished by the will power of men and God. And as Palpatine, he will wait ... wait until the tide turns in his favor... he will wait in the shadows for the right moment to strike ...
So by letting the "wheels of the senate turn", he actually meant "wait for a fucking gullible giraffe/gecko thing to make him evil overlord of the universe"?
Actually, now I subscribe to the conspiracy that Jar Jar was actually the ultimate Sith lord behind everything. Think about it. It all makes sense. Tie fighters can't melt steel beams.
This was the very first “PALPATINES SUS” moment of The Clone Wars. I had watched all the movies before streaming this show and I completely lost it when I watched this scene
@@BlackDiamond2718 yeah but think about it: while Anakin was out killing Separatists the legislature, judiciary, military and large chunks of the economy were all being managed through the office of the Supreme Chancellor. Constitutional separation of powers in government dissolved in order to support the war effort, and everyone went along with it in order to fit in as a good patriot. As an experienced politician Padme should have seen that clearly, not just sat around telling her husband she has butterflies in her stomach.
According to me, an even better scene was when he recieved the shocking news of Darth Mauls survival and told Mas Amedda to "prepare his shuttle"... Those who didn't get that hint has seriously missed out on some details. ^^
I agree there are better moments now, but this was posted the same weekend the episode originally aired, and at the time it was the best scene so far, in my opinion....
Alot op people are asking why this should be one of the best scenes in the CW-series, but for me the answer might actually be quite simple. One simply has to watch all the prequel movies and the CW-series and count how many times Chancelor Palpatine himself is directly telling he is up to take the absolute power of the Senate. It is not untill the very end of the "Revenge of the Sith" where Palpatine says "I am the Senate" where it gets clear that he wants and will keep the absolute power. Even in all the cut-out scenes from "Revenge of the Sith" which shows the rise of the Rebellion, it is not quite clear that Palpatine wants to have the absolute power. Sure, after all the movies and our knowledge one can easely point out phrases and scenes where we can insinuate such things, but rarely, perhaps not even 1 time besides this scene shown here, we see Palpatine saying he is going to take the absolute power. He's not saying it with the exact words, but when he says "for now we must follow the principles of our democracy" one clearly understands that this "for now" is not going to last "forever"; and when he says "we must let the wheels of the senate turn", one with some knowledge about politics should perfectly understand that he wants a senate that listens to its leader and not a leader that listens to the senate. In other words, he wants to go away from democracy and when you do, you're getting an dictator, which he kinda did became. The motivation for this is because he clearly asks in the beginning of the scene how it is possible that he wields all power possible in this Republic, even with all the emergency powers he earlier had received, but yet in the end he doesn't have the full power he thought he would have and he does want to have.
🤡🤡🤡utter nonsense, as good as clone wars was it was never that deep until the final 2 seasons when fans grew up. I’ll say it again: IT’S NOT THAT DEEP. You probably spent more time explaining the scenes “meaning” then time it took to write this into the story
This is what made the show brilliant. They never outwardly say that Palpatine is evil even though we all know it. But they continually keep things hidden and manage to create amazing stories from the grey areas.
“Oh Sheev… democracy is so overrated. And don’t waste a second raging over Senator Amidala. Every kitten grows up to be a cat. They seem so harmless at first, so small and quiet lapping up their saucers of milk. But soon their claws grow sharp enough to draw blood, sometimes from the hand that feeds them. For men like us who have spent a lifetime climbing to the top of the mountain, there can be no mercy. There is only one rule: hunt or be hunted.” -Frank Underwood
This truely was one of the best scenes. I actually gave a damn for once watching this silly, feel-good Star Wars Cartoon. That's why the later seasons were better. They were darker and had more drama.
I find this amazing because many people forget that Mas Amedda knows everything Palpatine is planning I thought it was pretty clear. I find this scene amazing
No he didn't. Palpatine tricked Amedda during the first year of his chancellor position into thinking he could manipulate palpatine to get his way on how the republic should be. After failed missions amedda set up that palpatine sabotaged, he revealed himself as sidious to him because he knew amedda couldnt tell anyone (because of incriminating evidence he had on amedda) Amedda knew palpatine was evil, he knew that he was playing both sides.... but he had no idea of the complete endgame palpatine has in mind
@@rogerjohnson2793 you are correct, I learn this after that old comment I added. Also also relived Palatines views were aligned with his, so he found himself attracted to the Sith knowing they could perhaps be better

"We must let the wheels of the Senate turn." "What?" "What do you mean what?" "I thought you were the Senate." "I AM the Senate, yes." "You have wheels?" "Oh, go brush your hentai locks."
I just realised palpatine had much to gain in padmes death not only does it turn anakin to the dark side even more but it also enabled palpatine to pass bills in the senate more easily with less opposition
Luke: "I'm a Jedi, like my father before me!" Palpatine: "Oh you remind me so much of your mother." Luke: "You knew my mother?" Palpatine: "She was a gigantic pain in my wrinkled ass."
Interesting how the scene doesn't really give away that Palpatine is the Big Bad, even when he is speaking with an advisor who is surely in the know. "For now we must adhere to the principles of our democracy ..." The operative phrase is of course "FOR NOW".

“All democracies turn into dictatorships - but not by coup. The people give their democracy to a dictator, whether it's Julius Caesar or Napoleon or Adolf Hitler."
~George Lucas
In the case of Julius Caesar he did take power because he knew that the system was corrupt and actually did things for the Republic that greatly benefited its people. Therefore becoming more and more popular to the point where he was then chosen to become leader for life which violated the principles of the Republic. However because the Senate and its corruption reared its ugly head and they murdered Julius Caesar they cemented the fact that the Senate is corrupt and must be dealt with
For Napoleon he was a commoner who became a king through fear will strategy and the ever-changing game of politics to the point where he was actually able to become king in multiple countries and even after his Exile, his own fellow French who were tasked to kill him should he ever return outright refused to do so and joined him willingly out of respect and love for their emperor.
However it doesn't change the fact that he did some horrendous things in the process but the fact that he literally made a country that was basically nothing more than a punching bag kicked into the dust into a dominant world power in no less than 10 years shows that you can actually rise above where you once stood and having Innovation that was unmatched throughout the world of that time frame and even now we still use that technology but Innovative it into a newer form ( the jet engine was a prototype that was created by the Nazis but was never utilized during the war effort as the technology was still too young )
Julius Caesar stole power because he loved the Republic and knew the corruption so he had to take it upon himself assemble the triumvirate rent and try to save the Republic from the deep-rooted corruption and died for it while exposing the corruption
Napoleon was a peasant but through sheer will and patriotism he became a king and at the same time became the enemy of the world according to the rest of Europe.

Evan Pan-Bao Her daughter too...
There were many who were against it like Bail Organa or Mon Mothma but they all knew the consequences since the entire Jedi Council has been accused of treason and it was known there were some in the senate who plotted against Palpatine WITH the jedi due to his slow rise to dictatorship. Its nicely explained in the novel.

*+David McGinness*
I've actually come around to seeing what was so great about this scene.

The USA destroyed South America by instating right wing dictators. Any view about equality or civil rights stems has always been backed by left wingers and been pushed away by right wingers.
Playing Chess ♟️♟️♟️ = Politics & Diplomacy
@Dark Vader Yes, or at least the Sith in form of Palpatine himself.
After all, he tried to become immortal and never taught his apprentices or diciples enough to be a danger to him. He just miscalculated once out of arrogance. Even being 99.9% right in his vision of the future left a 0.1% chance of Vader turning against him.

Lucasfilm stated that TCW would outrank the entire EU in their canon hierarchy (TCW had it's own tier immediately below the films)
As far as in-jokes go...I agree. the correct viewing order is 4-6, then 1-2, then TCW, with 3 finishing off.
The only right way to watch Star Wars is
1. A New Hope
2. Empire Strikes back
3. Return of the Jedi
4. A New Hope.....

this scene kind of sums up the clone wars in 45 seconds
It foreshadows Palpatine's downfall though.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking of House of Cards when I watched this.
AlexTheEpic why Gaffney? I only ask because I live near there, and no one ever just mentions SC without a reason.
AlexTheEpic what?!
ianfab79 The main character in House of Cards is from Gaffney, and that's who OP was emulating
This doesnt look like palpatine saying “prepare my ship” and then beating the shit outta maul...
Prepare our shit*

He's certainly a secret something :)
One of the best political series for a while.
Not quite as good as the original but still quality.
***** He was Palpatine's real master
+Bidmartinlo you can just picture him having a one on one meeting with jedi about some planet in the outer rim that the Council and the Senate aren't quite sure how to help, and Palpatine just looks to the camera and says "What every martyr craves more than anything is a sword to fall on, all you must do is sharpen the blade, hold it at just the right angle, and three, two, one-" followed by the jedi declaring they will go help this planet while Palpatine pretends to discourage him
Hahahaha yes!
Bidmartinlo I'd honestly support a show like that
What's so great about this scene? That's easy. Palpatine has come to realize that a simple senator has inadvertently put a monkey wrench in his master plan to create the Galactic Empire. It shows that he doesn't hold ALL the cards in the war (and there have been several other instances of hiccups in his plans that were eventually undone).
Because democratie is always about public opinion, hes waiting for the time to turn this opinion in his favor.
Nevertheless, he still succeeded.
Still wouldn’t call it the best scene in the CW
@@NoU-pf8fc I didn't necessarily say it was the best. Besides, there have been many more moments in the years that came after this video was posted.
Gahmah Raan yea I can agree on that, props to you responding to my comment even after 6 years have passed.
Padme was playing 3 dimensional chess with Palpatine and she didn't even know it.
"We must let the wheels of the senate turn."
1-2 years later: "I am the senate."
Now I have become the Senate, the Destroyer of the Republic!
So by letting the "wheels of the senate turn", he actually meant "wait for a fucking gullible giraffe/gecko thing to make him evil overlord of the universe"?
Aaron Parker he was sith lord way before he became senator .
he even killed his master before the election day
+Aldo Siffredi This actual body isn't even his own xD
Actually, now I subscribe to the conspiracy that Jar Jar was actually the ultimate Sith lord behind everything. Think about it. It all makes sense. Tie fighters can't melt steel beams.
+Aaron Parker Robot Chicken much?
William Taylor Payne When that new movie comes out you'll see. You'll all see!
This was the very first “PALPATINES SUS” moment of The Clone Wars. I had watched all the movies before streaming this show and I completely lost it when I watched this scene
Padme made an insightful comment in Revenge of the Sith: What if the democracy we're fighting for had already crumbled around us, and nobody noticed?
I dont believe that. And youre sounding like a separatist.
Even he didnt listen. Says alot about propaganda.
@@tompearce5418 that was a line from the movie…
According to me, an even better scene was when he recieved the shocking news of Darth Mauls survival and told Mas Amedda to "prepare his shuttle"... Those who didn't get that hint has seriously missed out on some details. ^^
the scene of "the Lawless" ?
-you sumoned me chancelor
-prepare my ship !
:p
Wow.
Very good comment
I dont see anyone asking but still cool
🤡🤡🤡utter nonsense, as good as clone wars was it was never that deep until the final 2 seasons when fans grew up. I’ll say it again: IT’S NOT THAT DEEP. You probably spent more time explaining the scenes “meaning” then time it took to write this into the story
@Jordan Hornery he is playing 4d chess with himself.
"the best scene ever" im suprised you didnt show almost the entire clone wars...
...
This doesn’t look like Anakin controlling The daughter and the Son

Ironic. He can be the senate, but not it’s wheels.
One does not get eyebags like that without being blatently evil.
This is what made the show brilliant. They never outwardly say that Palpatine is evil even though we all know it. But they continually keep things hidden and manage to create amazing stories from the grey areas.
This doesn’t look like the entire Umbara arc
“Oh Sheev… democracy is so overrated. And don’t waste a second raging over Senator Amidala. Every kitten grows up to be a cat. They seem so harmless at first, so small and quiet lapping up their saucers of milk. But soon their claws grow sharp enough to draw blood, sometimes from the hand that feeds them. For men like us who have spent a lifetime climbing to the top of the mountain, there can be no mercy. There is only one rule: hunt or be hunted.”
-Frank Underwood
Welcome back.
The real reason he wanted Padme to die
John Peacekeeper i know and he finally gets his chance when he kills her in Episode III with the force
He needed her to seduce Anakin.
This truely was one of the best scenes. I actually gave a damn for once watching this silly, feel-good Star Wars Cartoon. That's why the later seasons were better. They were darker and had more drama.
YorktownUSA Even 2 had some darkness, as did 1 (i.e. the civilian treatment during the CIS occupation of Ryloth)
Sean Reihani True.
+YorktownUSA It was not feel-good in the least.

This is what blew my little sister’s mind before watching E3
Not a bad scene.
But I like Ahsoka's farwell, light sabre duels, epic battles and tidier storylines than the prequel movies.
After failed missions amedda set up that palpatine sabotaged, he revealed himself as sidious to him because he knew amedda couldnt tell anyone (because of incriminating evidence he had on amedda)
Amedda knew palpatine was evil, he knew that he was playing both sides.... but he had no idea of the complete endgame palpatine has in mind
@@rogerjohnson2793 you are correct, I learn this after that old comment I added. Also also relived Palatines views were aligned with his, so he found himself attracted to the Sith knowing they could perhaps be better
considering he's playing the long long game, I feel like he said this exact phrase more than once... with as much distain
Padme was the only person who could mess with Palpatine's plan.
What about hondo you doofus
There are 3 good things to come out of all Star Wars related media after Return of the Jedi...

"What?"
"What do you mean what?"
"I thought you were the Senate."
"I AM the Senate, yes."
"You have wheels?"
"Oh, go brush your hentai locks."
Di you know the name of the Episode?
I just realised palpatine had much to gain in padmes death not only does it turn anakin to the dark side even more but it also enabled palpatine to pass bills in the senate more easily with less opposition
Luke: "I'm a Jedi, like my father before me!"
Palpatine: "Oh you remind me so much of your mother."

Palpatine: "She was a gigantic pain in my wrinkled ass."

Palpatine knew Democracy is both the answer and ...the problem.
Interesting how the scene doesn't really give away that Palpatine is the Big Bad, even when he is speaking with an advisor who is surely in the know. "For now we must adhere to the principles of our democracy ..." The operative phrase is of course "FOR NOW".
So palpatine's wheels are going to turn? I mean he is the senate after all.
When I was a kid I was so gullible, when my dad said that Palpatine was the Emperor I was legit like "No way! He's too nice."
I learned by the time either season 2 or season 3 rolled around, and I finally watched all of the star wars movies.
This scene was awesome because it showed that even Palpatine has his weaknesses and can still be overcome by the good in people.
