What's your favourite Churchill quote? Extra points if it's something he actually said and not something a Facebook post claims he said.
"If you can't handle me at my worst..." Oh wait, that's a fake Marylin Monroe quote, not a fake Churchill quote.
"Don't trust everything people say on social media these days" - Winston Churchill, 1940

“Oh yes” Churchill the Dog
Churchill was going through a hard season where he didn't have much support, George Bernard Shaw was premiering a new play and he sent two tickets to Churchill which read 'two tickets for the opening night, one for you and for for a friend- if you have one.'
Churchill wrote back and said ' thank you for the tickets to your opening night. I would like to ask for another for your second night- if you have one.'
When I, an American, learned that Churchill had been in Parliament serving under every monarch from Victoria to the then-current Elizabeth II, I was stunned. That's a really long time.
I'm not sure if I am distantly related to Winston Churchill, but my 2 or 3x great grandfather was a Churchill that came to America from England in 1852.
I have Churchills in my family tree as well. I can't tell if they are related to Winston, but one of my ancestors did have the name Winston Churchill, but was born in America.
@@kandipiatkowski8589 The Duke of Marlborough who fought Louis XIV was John Churchill, and an ancestor of Sir Winston. You might well be descended from him. His father, bu the way, was yet another Winston Churchill.
My Churchill quote is part of an exchange: Winston, you are drunk. And you, madam are ugly. Tomorrow, I shall be sober.
Next video: Are there any Rosevelt’s left?
There should be a law permitting or dicting they can choose the “cooler family name” or combine them into a new one
My Mum claims her cousin once removed married a descendant of Churchill, so I presume the answer to the question in the vid title is "yes".
My Nan on the other side of the family used to take us swimming in the Somerset village of Churchill too.
I still say this series should be called "Name Remain."
“Obgidifagodo datgad mungad” - Winston Churchill
These are my favorite types of videos you do! Looking forward to the next one!
Jerome Ave in The Bronx was named after his grandfather, Jennie’s dad, Leonard Jerome
8:28 I was trying to find Nicholas Soames and apparently he is Arthur.
4:01 is that Boris Johnson in the lower right?
yes
Lol
And Cameron back second left. It’s an elite club at Oxford called the Bullingdon club
A video I've always wanted to see in this series is "Are there any Turings Left" Given his sexual orientation and cause of death, I think that might make an interesting video.
IIIIIINNNNN THE JUUUNGLE THE MIGHTY JUNGLE THE BAGUETTE SLEEPS TONIGHT

@@anonymous-zg7whhold up your arms, are both of them at the same height? Try to smile is one side of your mouth drooping?
Winston Churchill was born at Blenheim Palace. The palace, one of England's largest houses, was built between 1705 and 1722 and is the only non-royal, non-episcopal country house in England to hold the title of palace!
There's like 2 different Church Hills in my TOWN. They want you to be able to see the spire from most of the city, after all...
Holy shit this is the earliest ive ever been in any video lol
You were in before the 🌽 bots!!
The Time Travel Artist, a channel by James Fox, examines the life of Mr. Churchill.
As a native New Yorker I've long wondered if there are any Jerome family members still living
It seems like none of them will be named Jerome. Leonard Jerome had four daughters
@@NiKiMa023 Thank you - I didn't know that!
There was the Churchill brothers' , Richard (Rick) and Charles (Chick) who were respected musicians in the 60's and 70's. No relation (Unless Winston had relatives that were Nottinghamshire miners!).
I’m legit his 8th cousin, 4x removed
I know his granddaughter!! Small claim to fame.
Oh Yes Oh Yes Oh Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes
5'6, balding, overweight/slightly obese; he may not have been a serial mogger, but his legacy lives on through his actions (I presume).
1:57 of course he was a racist; almost all of high society in England in the early 20th century was racist. They discriminated against the Irish, Scots, Welsh, Cornish... and that's without going outside their own country, so it only stands to reason that they would discriminate against foreigners, and even stronger if they looked "funny". While we think of South Africa when we say "apartheid" (and SA belonged to the UK when Churchill was in power), many of its traits were the norm in all british colonies and settlements. And that timeframe also coincided with the auge of eugenetics. Now the question is if he was racist because that's how he was brought up or if he was racist because of his own beliefs.
They also discriminated against lower class English people.
@@lordjazoijua94 yeah, but that's mostly classism, not racism (although there was a weird movement to turn it into perceived racism by falsely setting percentages of Norman and Anglosaxon lineages).
Was it intentional or just a cheap stock shot? About 4 minutes in his up bring missed university with "These kinds of people." That is Boris Johnson with bad hair even when he was in school, isn't it?

I'm American and Churchill is one my idols. I don't care that his opinions don't fit our cultural norms today. He lived his life to the fullest and was product of his time. I'm proud he was half American.

God I hope not. If I was cursed to have that name I'd change it as soon as I was able.
