Any umpire goading or picking should be thrown from the game. The commissioner should be called and the incident reviewed right then and there, not to sound childish but one, the game shouldn't be decided because of the umps ego second the ump should never make himself bigger than the game fans are there yo see the players not an ego boosting jerk
The third base umpire does his job if there’s a bad call here and then it doesn’t really hurt anybody you’ll move on but when you have got the third base ump making up for a bad call it looks bad on him, especially walking towards Harper unacceptable

I think some umpires try to goad hothead players like Bryce Harper into giving them an excuse to throw them out of the game. They probably hear the chirping in the field and from the dugout throughout the game, so they use any close call to force the issue. It could have even been the previous game or the last series they worked with that team.
There's a standard rule when it comes to officials in any sport: "If we (the fans) know your name then you're terrible." It's why we all know Angel Hernandez (was literally proved in court that he's terrible) and yet there's an MLB ump who, on average, makes only 2 ball/strike calls per appearance behind the plate that disagree with what the robot would call and even those are all borderline calls. I'd tell you his name but I don't know it because he's good at his job.
There should be a couple alternate umpires , and someone from MLB at each game. Umpires get out of line, to many questionable calls, or lose control of the game, pull them and put in a sub umpire 🤷🏻♂️. Nothing worse than an umpire with a huge ego, or just lousy like Angle Hernandez 🤷🏻♂️
In my opinion, if umpires pick a fight with a baseball player, that should be a penalty. That should be in the rulebook if any umpire picks a fight with a player that automatic walk. Because just because you’re calling the player safer or out that does not give you the right to pick a fight with them, especially if they have a bat in their hand. If there is appeal for first or third base umpire ask if they went around, go look at the replay just in case. What will happen if they look at the replay and turn it how to umpire was wrong??

They should fire all the umpires and replace them with robots. Better calls, fewer arguments. Robots don’t have feelings. They don’t care if you call them names.

Easier said than done, and on close calls 1/2 the people are going to be mad. You also have to consider that they dont have a floating box in front of them, and they’re under pressure to get 90+% of them right or else they might get threatened after the game. If being an umpire is so easy, go become one. It pays well.

Haven't gone to a game in 7 years because the last game I went (and will ever go) to, the ump was calling balls 4'' off the plate strikes for a Florida team and not the other. In a later inning the ump was finally called out by the batter who got tossed for opening his mouth, and the manager who defended his player. I didn't pay for a ticket to see the ump. I paid to see the players... Should BB consider getting rid of umps for a digital batters box, I would consider going to a game again. I know...BB purists will find this statement blasphemous. However, if BB keeps losing fans due to the umps, how are owners going to keep paying the 2, 3, and 4 hundred million dollar contracts? Oh, that's right. There are owners who love taking losses on their books...🤔🤔🤔
