Opening a Surefire E1D head

  • Here's one way to open a Surefire E1D head. Surefire uses some sort of sem-hard rubber as thread lock. It used to be read Loctite. You'll need a heat gun, strips of thick leather, and two visegrips. Take care not to heat the head too much and not to set the visegrips too tight or you'll deform the bezel.

You literally saved me $150. I dropped my rifle directly onto a pointed rock and it went straight into the glass. Instead of buying a Malkoff head, I went and bought a replacement lens for $4

Nice! I wasn't sure how a guy could open up an E-series light.

I shattered the led on my surefire scout 300. Based on your video do you think it would be hard to replace the bezel led. Thanks

All that is required is patience and at least two replacement LEDs. The 2nd is your backup just in case the first doesn't work. Go slow with the soldering.

Brother, thank you for returning my question. I meant my bezel lens, not my led unit.

@@samuelrgonzales111 You're welcome. Best to ask Surefire for a replacement. You might have to pay for one or you might not. I was honest with them about damaging one of their pens while trying to modify it and they sent me a replacement part for free. YMMV.

@@thanhlam4334 Watchmaterial.com. Sorry, I no longer have the E1D, but I think it was 2mm thick and 23mm diameter. Please measure the original Surefire glass window first to be sure.
