Suga was the one who told Jimin he needed to be in the group; he went to A&R and told them that; he also told them he needed to sing, not rap - which is what they were trying to teach him. A&R agreed and insisted to Bang PD that he needed to be in the group. V comes in at the end when he was asked how he felt about his friend being in the group with them. Of course, V said yes, that he was a really good person and was there for him.
They actually performed this at V’s fanmeet last year. He invited jimin to attend and spontaneously the backing track started and caught jimin off guard 😂 They got thru it but Jimin said he forgot some of the lyrics and lovingly scolded V for not giving him the heads up. But then they both started singing the lines acapello.
5:04 correction on what Saya said, Jimin auditioned at Busan and moved to Seoul to become Bighit trainee. That's where Jimin (became trainee mid-2012) and V (became trainee 2011) met. Because there were both 1995s, they went to the same high school but different classroom. Since Jimin was new, he was shy at first and V had been there longer and he asked his friends to be nice to Jimin.
In regards to Jimin's inclusion in BTS, BangPD was unsure because he thought Jimin was "incomplete" since he had the shortest training period and the company needed to debut the group due to financial constraints. 1-2 Talent and Development staff insisted to BangPD that Jimin must join BTS and also asked BTS members their opinion which V said, "it would be nice to debut with a friend." BTS members was announced on Dec 2012 and debuted on June 13, 2013.
Yes i agree with this comment. Jimin was the last person to join and has the shortest training period. And together with training with Big Hit Ent. they have to continue studying and since both of them were born on the same year they got to be in the same class. V is more comfortable fitting in the classroom setting (studying) so in a way he looked after Jimin. Please correct me if I'm wrong . Borahae

Taehyung has less trouble with being social and making friends everywhere - there is a joke about him making friends even in the bathroom.
Jimin was afraid people would tease him for his Busan dialect.
But technically I think Jimin was always better in school - going so far that he was class president/vice president through his whole school career and even taught math when the teacher was absent - and top of his class while Taehyung was more laid back.
The "T&D" vids in the HYBE channel have picked some of that stuff up, too.
It also confused me - who did Namjoon mean was the other person that made sure that Jimin debuted: Taehyung? Yoongi? someone else?
@@ruthfischer7615 Maybe both of them, Taehyung is his best friend, we know by what they said how Taehyung give his opinion about Jimin being a great talent friend and it would be good if they debut together. We also know by Suchwita how much Yoongi influenced, stood up for him and make sure to always be there to compliment Jimin's vocals, Yoongi was a little upset about their trainee period where Big Hit was making Jm rap, when Yoongi always believed he was made to sing, I wouldn't be surprised if he took an important part in making Jimin stay in BTS.
Yoongi until now is always mentioning how much he loves Jimin's vocals, how unique is.
@ruthfischer7615 I don't think it's either Taehyung or Yoongi. It must be other staffer who either doesn't work there anymore or doesn't want to be named. RM would have mentioned if it was other members. Also Jimin is shy initially but actually very socially adept and has a high EQ. He wouldn't be class president for 9 years and well liked wherever he goes without being socially friendly.
I think all members were asked if they wanted Jimin in the group but it was just Taehyung who mentioned it in his letter in Malta Bon Voyage.
Its a good thing T & D team insisted on Jimin inclusion otherwise as RM said it would have been a disaster for BTS. PD Bang said he was incomplete re Jimin not because he had the shortest training (considering they had Jin and Taehyung who had more training but still didn't get the main dancer or lead vocalist roles like Jimin did when BTS debuted) but I think Jimin was bit vocal about his discontent with the way he was treated and PD Bang didnt like that. In BTS bio book Behind the Story Jimin was the one who voiced that the original DNA melody wasn't good enough which led to PD Bang having to redo it (its the one we now hear)

They did sing a but this song, live at a promo event for his album this Fall.
Also, the song mentions a dream catcher which was a gift Jimin gave V after V had a nightmares and went to Jimin's room for comfort. Jimin did not respond because he didn't know why V woke him up. After learningbifvhis nightmare, he bought V a dream catcher-- I associate these with Native American culture. We learned about this through a live were thry discussed it.
I have this to say about the Beatles. If they had had half the common sense of BTS , they may not have had to break up.
Little side note. This song was also in Marvel’s movie The Eternals.

This song is Light and bop to ears but the friendship runs deep in these two to call each other soulmates and promise each other to be there even when all this popularity fades. VMIN will always have each other.

Jimin wrote, composed and produced PROMISE. So this isnt the first song that he produced. Fun facy: Back in high school, Jimin was the model student. He was exemplary in conduct and academic performance. He was class president all the way and known as The God of Maths. V is the chill one and Jimin has to drag him to school (V said so LOL).
To my favourite Bert and Ernie! Thought you might also enjoy this note from Spotify about the song: "The track is a pop rock song for which Jimin has participated in the production. Exuding a pleasant energy, that resembles the two, "Friends" shifts into soulful R&B during the bridge, further highlighting Jimin and V's special friendship, that has grown ever stronger during the 7 years." Also noting that the song then shifts at the end to a celebratory gospel choir.
This song really shows how complex their song writing is. Their songs all take you on a journey where you feel there is development; which I think is so poetic given their overall message is always a hopeful look to the future.
And with that... time to refill your coffee. If you give this song another listen with this in mind, I'm sure you'll come to appreciate this on another level. (truth be told, I didn't really like this song on first listen, but now it's a part of my soul 😂)
The infamous Dumpling incident as stated in their official book Beyond The Story:- V was working on his Hwarang series, one day after shoot he came back & ordered some dumplings from their chef, he went to freshen up. Just then Jimin walks in, sees those dumplings & picks them up & tells the chef to serve them whem all members get free (he had no idea V had asked for them lol). V comes back now frustrated as he's tired & hungry & yells at Jimin, while Jimin says we shouldn't eat without the others 😂 lol. This led to such a huge argument between these 2 that the other members had to intervene & told them to go outside & sort it out. They did not to each other for a few days lol Jimin even made dumplings himself for V as an apology 😂. But after that they've been inseparable, they've known as the Tom & Jerry of Kpop, the best, purest friendship out there. V wrote the song 4 o'clock for Jimin one day while waiting for him at a park. 💜
11:45 I totally agree, not every gesture has to mean more. However… V’s recent song Fri(end)s, which is basically a love confession and talking about how the friendship has become more than just friends, references a friend from 2009 and I am really curious if that is when V met Jimin at school 😅 And if Fri(end)s is a continuation to this song Friends in a way

Fun Fact: Both V and Jimin are wearing their actual school uniform in this performance.
Since both of them are of the same age, they went to school together and became fast friends. They call each other soulmates because they both were able to share their hardships and joys with each other.

I LOVE THIS SONG because of the lyrics and like all the backstory and their friendship history. Vmin is pure friendship goals. If you watch Bon Voyage and Run BTS some of the things referenced in the song you'll see! V recently wrote another song also titled "Friends" that is pretty cool as well.
I wish you could see a video of this with some actual scenes from them (jimin's little pinky is literal. HAHA PLEASE PLEASE LOOK UP A VIDEO OF TAE AND JIMIN COMPARING PINKY SIZES)
