INFO: Keep in mind like you saw with Suga, there is different styles. RM you reacted to wildflower, however his song Joke, is also dark and deep and OMG his flows are wicked. Both Suga & RM were both underground rappers in an industry back then that you were a "Sell Out" if you left for being an idol, all that is, is putting on make up and doing what your told. RM & Suga both rebelled out with BTS Cypher series part 1, part 2, part 3 & part 4. Personally Suga released his song "Agus DT" by Agus DT and RM released his song "Joke" when they were told they were not real rappers but sell outs. The idol industry was full of 3 big companies and Big Hit was nearly bankrupt so they were not taken serious HINT HINT Taylor guides......LOL So the songs over time follow the theme of "Love Yourself" as the songs for each other members gets on in years its also an introspection of themselves, who they are now, how they got there and what they had to face to get there. Another VERY important note on BTS, you have lines in BTS. You have the rap line, you have the vocal line, you have the dance line. They maybe one, but they also produce content either as part of BTS, as part of their line i.e the cypher series is the rap line and the dance line have also released things as well.

BTS this is why we say your cant split up some of our babies. BTS video have hidden meanings. There is a complete storyline with a set of music videos, notes etc that is deep, twisted, confusing. Its call the BU Universe and centres around Jin. Its only for the die hard fans to go down that rabbit hole. Same as spring day has an extremely important theory video behind it, as its constantly been on the korean charts since its release, according to google last year it has spent 260 weeks on the melon music charts. Some songs have deep meanings to army hence why we suggested not to split these ones you reacted to or you will miss the big picture.......LOL

Hey, if you have trouble seeing the lyrics, try to reset them in the settings of the video or just press "o". For some reason the opacity goes to 50% sometimes and they are hard to see(I'm assuming that's why Johnny was having trouble not the size).

I was talking about Yoongi being different from the western rappers I have heard in the past who I find difficult to listen to on the whole. I love listening to all of BTS as soloists and BTS together. Yoongi is very creative in his work both as a performer and as a producer. These three videos are art works in their own right.

RM has said “the seven of us are on a boat, looking in different directions but going the same way” and I think this describes them perfectly. They are all super stars with their own vastly different musical tastes and talents. Even before their individual solo releases, many members released their own mixed tapes or solo works. I would also say the individual members get influenced by others too. Even within solo works, you will see they are not afraid to try different genres or sounds. You could tell that all the members supported them doing this and were proud of them each time. Jin has said that “one of the reasons why they are successful is that each of the members concedes want he wants to do for other members”. They truly are blood brothers who are aware that it takes work to be a team but love each other so much you can see it affect them when they are separated. J-Hope said that he believes fate brought them together. We are all very lucky they found each other.

His mom indeed had heart surgery shortly after his birth, likely because of pregnancy related complications which Yoongi felt very guilty about. His dad did indeed have liver cancer. Yoongi indeed had a terrible accident that crushed and shattered his left shoulder. Yoongi also had to have emergency surgery to remove his appendix while on tour. He has struggled with depression, OCD, self harm, suicidal ideation and crippling social anxiety since his teen years. He once had a panic attack that caused them to cancel a whole BTS stadium show in Japan. He felt so guilty about it that he flew back to the stadium on his own to spend some contemplative time and then wrote a long open letter to ARMY about it apologizing, sharing his love and his pain and his struggle.
He has always been very raw and honest about his mental health struggles, though S Korea is a culture where mental health issues are very taboo to discuss or admit to at all. All of BTS have always been very open about showing these things, and discussing both happy and difficult feelings, doubts, fears, things they perceive as their own flaws, vulnerabilities, tenderness, the whole scope of themselves as people, both in their art and in their candid communications with ARMY, counter to their own culture. They have laughed with us, cried with us, raged with us, been goofy with us and been tender with us. They often acknowledge that their relationship with ARMY is like nothing anyone has seen before. It's depth, reciprocity and mutual interdependence is something unique and beautiful. We believe in each other and we lift each other up. ARMY and BTS are one family.

Indeed, everything mentioned in the MV was autobiographical. His entire D DAY tour was a testament to his journey. It was a process of liberating himself. At the beginning of the concert, Yoongi was on the floor, as he was at the end of Amygdala MV. With every song, a part of the stage was lifted to the ceiling as a metaphor. By the end of the show, there was only enough space for Yoongi to stand still. Every time the song ended, he was overcoming his trauma little by little. At the last concert, he finally left that room (through that exact door) - liberated, successful and joyful.

It was so powerful. As someone who walked through a similar battle with depression, the trilogy of his journey was so meaningful. Not being able to get through the door in Amygdala was such a true imagery that I would show people the MV to say this is what it is like - it describes what words cannot. The catharsis of his last concert where he just let everything go with sobs and walked through the Amygdala door at the end was incredible. I have mad respect for Min Yoongi’s artistry.

There are SO many layers to these MVs. Yoongi/Suga is truly a genius. Here are a few of my take aways. I'm barely delving into the lyrical content here. This man has so many layers to his content. It's unreal.
You guys put your finger on it when you theorized in the first MV that these portrayed an inner conflict. In the first two MVs you see two characters, the first is the peasant trying to overthrow a mad king, and the second MV is a thief trying to overthrow a corrupt police officer. This reflects Suga's struggle to remain grounded in the face of fame. He has another song called Interlude Shadow that was the first to show these split personas and speaks on this and his fear of becoming a monster of greed. If you've been through his discography you will hear him utilize the same line in many of his songs about wanting 'a big house, big car, big rings.' That line goes all the way back to one of their debut songs. So these MVs show the conflict between the side of him that wants to remain grounded and the side of himself that could be egotistical and arrogant that wants more money and more fame. In the first mv as he said "I got everything I wanted, what more'll make me feel contented?" And "I only looked up and now I want to look down and put my feet on the ground." However, as he shows int he MVs it is a cycle. He must kill off this version of himself over and over to stay grounded.
Now the scar itself is interesting too. In the first MV you'll notice it looks more fresh on both characters. In Haegum only the corrupt Police Officer has it, but it's more healed. The thief has no scar. In Amygdala, we found out how he got the scar. He gave himself the scar. In the behind the scenes for the filming of Amygdala he mentions, to paraphrase, that people give themselves their own scars depending on how they respond to life's traumas. We see that the mad king, the corrupt cop, and arguably Agust D himself, was born of Yoongi's real life traumas as a way to express himself. His tour backed this up. He had tour vcrs in between songs when he was changing that according to him showed three characters, Agust D, Suga and Min Yoongi and he spoke about moving foward wanting to be Min Yoongi. I'll stop here because I could probably write a whole essay on this subject. These are just my interpretations going off his discography and interviews he gave for DDAY. I really enjoyed watching your reaction!

Thanks for checking this out!! To answer some of the questions at the end, yes, Amygdala is autobiographical from his third and most recent album _D-Day_ . All are autobiographical plus featuring some social critiques as well. He does indeed have the darkest backstory of the members of BTS which he shares bits of through his solo albums. He has gotten help and is much better and healthier now. D-day actually focuses on the context of healing and knowing "future's gonna be okay" starting now. In a sense, it completes the trilogy of albums which explore his pain and hurting from his past. The videos are all great, and tbh I was very surprised how direct the Amygdala MV was, especially being so personal.
The video is very layered and has many stories within it, including his accident and injury, his concern and guilt for his parents' lives, his depression, potential self-harm etc. Most extremely tho this video seems to depict an attempt on his life. He's strongly implied about it in his first mixtape, specifically in his song _The Last_ , but acting it out and really sharing it is something entirely different.
As someone who has lived through that situation, I can say how eerily accurate the MV is.
First, I don't believe he is napping in that room. We can see him twitching and see an open bottle of pills on the right stand. He also then leaves his own body in an outer-soul type experience. The hardest parts of this video for me to watch is him struggling and climbing to that door which seems to represent a few things, but one being life/surviving. He changes his mind and is fighting to live. Or, maybe he's even just too afraid of not reaching the door.
The other hardest part being 3:35 (in MV)to the end. The younger version of him at 3:40 appears to be before his accident took place since he is not injured yet. The reaction doesn't represent a trigger(bc nothing happened yet) instead that is his inner child running to save him. Yoongi is seen going through his memories in the video so he is going sorta backwards in time. He finally reaches a time before the accident and this is the part of him that resists the attempt. Terrified, younger him runs as fast as he can to get to the room, but the door is locked. He tries to break through but the video ends without clearly showing what happens next. You referred to the Amygdala as the survival mechanism and I think that is truly the deep core of the song. He's pleading with even his own anatomy, both literally and figuratively as for a greater power or force beyond himself, to save him and let him live.
I've only been able to watch the video a few times but I always cry when the younger self reaches the other side of the door. This video is so tragic. It's great he is healing now and in a better place with a better direction.
On a lighter note, Suga created the name 'Agust D' from spelling Suga in reverse and adding the descriptor of his rural hometown Daegu, or D-town. In this sense, it's a kind of introspective history of Suga even down to the name. He's said he will probably drop the name after this album trilogy and just go by Suga for his solo works from now on as he wants to make lighter music in the future than he has to this point. 'Suga', more innocently, was created as an abbreviation of Shooting Guard, a position in Basketball which was his dream as a kid/adolescent outside of music. So, that name sorta represents having a dream which is something he struggled with for a long time, just as a concept, which he writes a lot about. He is a musician playing piano and now guitar, as well as a producer and he talks about his deep love for music in his song "First Love" from the BTS album _Wings_ . Maybe my favorite work of his(highly recommend). I realize this comment is crazyy long, but I just didn't want to leave it on a dark note for anyone who read the whole thing lol.

Your description of the Amygdala MV and your reaction is identical to mine also having lived through something similar. From the first view I knew that it would be my go-to share for people who need or what to have some understanding of the experience of clinical depression because words are not adequate. The parts that hit you are the same parts I react to. When I saw the Amygdala door on stage and him walking through it I couldn’t believe the brilliance of the message that he was finally able to get through that door. It gave me so much joy because of the hope it represented with the words “Future’s gonna be ok”.

Amygdala is entirely autobiographical. AgustD is a persona that Suga has used to explore the other side of himself - the part that usually no one sees. From the beginning, AgustD tracks have explored his inner conflict, his struggles with depression and social anxiety, and his anger against a society that oppresses and pressures young people into lives that are destructive. The accident you see in Amygdala with the motorcycle actually happened to Suga while he was a trainee with Big Hit, delivering food as a side job, and it crushed his shoulder. Coming from the background he did, and being so determined to continue in music, he was too terrified to tell anyone (including the members of BTS) what had happened. It wasn't until his condition was so bad he couldn't really function that he finally told Big Hit about the accident. They ended up not only allowing him to stay with BTS, but also covered costs so he wouldn't have to be so worried anymore. Suga has been incredibly open and raw in his music, placing very high priority on transparency and honesty, and as a result he has not only processed through his own trauma, but has also helped countless people do the same.
As a final note, Suga's concert tour this year began each night in that last "room" from Amygdala. Suga was carried onto the stage and the concert started with sounds of rain and Suga lying on a dark rectangular stage that mirrored the room in Amygdala. He performed every concert as if he was in that room. At the very last concert, on the last night of the tour, at the very end after the encore and saying goodbye to ARMY, suddenly the white door from the MV appeared at the back of the stage, and he slowly turned, walked to it, opened the door, and walked through it, closing it behind him. It seems that he was both closing this chapter as he prepared to enter the military, and that he feels he has finally processed through his past trauma, at least to the point that he is free from the mental cycles he was trapped in. It was one of the most beautifully cathartic endings I've ever seen an artist enact on stage, especially because that last night of the concert Suga not only poured every last ounce of his strength into every performance, but wept openly multiple times during the concert (we were all crying with him, too).
Thank you for reacting to these - I am grateful for the respect you show the BTS members and their music, despite being so new to them. As a side note, sometimes glancing through the lyrics ahead of reacting is helpful because things move so fast. Doolsetbangtan is the best resource online for lyrics! Appreciate you both - keep going!!

Watching both wildflower mv and live, thoughtfully planning out how to do the taylor guide, even bringing in a moderator, and now watching the agustd trilogy). I just figured if you put in that much consideration towards youtube viewers, how much more do you probably do for your actual students. If I had any interest in vocal or songwriting lessons I would definitely consider you guys just based on those observations.
      Saludos a ambos.

He ever shied away from writing songs or talking about his struggles because he wanted to help others who were having the same problems. All the members are so different but became a cohesive group. Maybe it's because they were so young and lived together during their trainee days and for the next 9 years after their debut. That's almost 12 years. They're closer than most brothers. I'm very excited you are doing all three! This trilogy can be difficult to understand unless you have followed BTS since the beginning. I will give a brief primer without spoilers, just to help you a little bit.
The characters in Daechwita represent (1) Agust D from his first mixtape era: (titled "Agust D"). He is arrogant, full of the confidence that comes with enormous talent, but angry at those who try to dismiss him as an artist. We also meet the Agust D who has come to terms with success, feels a bit more grounded and comfortable with his position at the top of his game, ready to do away with some old habits that no longer serve him. This is the Agust D who wrote the second mixtape, "D2".
In Haegeum (it means "the lifting of a ban or prohibition") We meet one of the characters from Daechwita again, and it seems he may have forgotten some lessons. He stilll shows signs of battle, and has started acting like his old arrogant self. And a new character comes in. This is Agust D who who wrote his third album, titled "D Day". He acts pretty wild, but only because he truly is free this time. He has no battle wounds left, in fact. He's a person who truly knows himself and accepts all sides of himself, even the dark sides. He is able to say everything, bare everything, do anything. This is the purest form of self empowerment, and can seem downright scary. But it's just the freedom of true understanding and self-acceptance.
"Amygdala" is the origin story. We meet Min Yoongi before he became Agust D. We learn how and why the emotional journey began, and the start of him learning how to unpack it all. It's heavily influenced by contemporary stoicism and Jungian theory, two philosophies that run throughout a lot of BTS lyrics. It's a lot easier to figure out what's going on in this video, so there is no need to explain anything. All you need to know is that past events described and portrayed are actual parts of his life.

Thank you for that great overview of the three songs from the trilogy. You explained it so well.💜
Ever since I was first found by BTS I have thought of Yoongi as a man who thinks deeply and feels deeply. And that is reflected in how personal his music is. How he writes, and performs, from the core of his being.
And that's how he touches us so deeply. How we "feel" his songs so intensely. I often say about Yoongi's songs (especially Shadow 💜😭😭) that he reaches into your chest, rips your heart out, throws it on the floor, stomps on it, picks it up, brushes it off, and presents it back to you - all tied up in a pretty bow.
But no matter how painful his songs can be, there is an undercurrent of hope. That, no matter how bad things get, you can get through it; grow from it. And, ultimately become stronger; and more connected to your inner self. To who you truly are at hearts core.💜
      Anyway... Thank you. Borahae 💜

Their styles are very diverse even within each of their own solo work and that diversity and variety just gets even broader within the team content. You will never get bored or know to expect with BTS or their solos. It will always be a surprise. They are all over the place. For j-hope alone you could get almost hard rock rap with More to gritty dark rap with arson to laid back chill rap with hope on the street featuring j-cole or almost gospel at times. they are all diverse but some are more consistent than others. V is pretty laid back and chill in most everything he does even though it spans multiple genres. The rappers may be the most diverse. Not surprising that they also write the majority of the BTS songs as well. I am looking forward to your reaction to the guide. ❤

For Haegeum he’s credited as sole writer, producer, keyboards, background vocals and several other things. The lyrics are deep, meaningful and thought provoking. When he says he’s thankful he’s a genius in Daechwita, he isn’t exaggerating. He’s gifted. Then again, so are the other 6. They’re like the Avengers 😂 They always support each other. Notice “rebel” Agust D is accompanied by 6 guys at the start of the first 2 MVs, representing his BTS brothers. Also, Jin & Jk are the ones fighting in Daechwita.
For J-Hope, my top choices are More, Arson & Equal Sign from his debut album Jack In The Box & Daydream, Piece Of Peace and Hansang from his mixtape Hope World.

Like you Snooze is one of my favourites but I am very thankful that you did the trilogy. Yoongi (Suga) is a complicated young man that has struggled with depression and anxiety for years. His accident added physical pain on top of all that. His family were against his following a music career initially and life was very hard for him so his past has haunted him. He put up with physical pain for seven years before receiving surgery to correct his shoulder injury and the tablets represent two things the pain relief and also an attempted suicide which Jin prevented, I heard. Jin and he were from 2015 roommates for seven years in which time Suga tried to become more like Jin and worry less and live in the present and let go of his past, which the trilogy has allowed him to do. Every Army can see a huge difference in him of late and how happier he seems. Today he enlisted in the military though unable to do active service due to his injury will serve as a social service officer for 21 months. I am sure during that time he will continue to write amazing music ready for the return of our wonderful BTS in 2025. I am glad you had this opportunity to review and experience his talent before he left. Thank you once again for your wonderful review. 💜💜

Yes, this whole trilogy is personal. Amygdala is absolutely autobiographical. At all his concerts this last year, he was carried, lifeless on/off stage; and pieces of the stage were removed down to him at floor level. His final concert though, he walked through that door, healed (as much as you can) from his ptsd & scars! 😭 And metaphorically a goodbye to ARMY (besides his live & msg) as he enters military service! Not a dry eye!! 😢💜
And yes, they *are* ALL stars in their own rights, with beautifully diverse music solo; but their love is BTS! This makes their work as a group soo good, & I'm looking forward to the last album drop (JK) & their 2025 sounds!
Suga produces a lot of BTS/client music, his ability to create an atmosphere & journey are unmatched! For more luscious soundscapes, his "Over the Horizon" for Samsung, & "Stay Alive" for their webtoon "Chako"-with bonus haunting JK vocals!
They really are the real deal! I found them later, with Butter, and was lucky enough to see PTD in both LA/LV, & Suga's DDay in Oakland. GenX, & never have I stanned a group so hard! The synergy in a concert is unmatched! They helped me survive the worst of Pandemic & major life changes. The sheer positive impact them & their fans have globally is phenomenal; & what we need in this world now.

*My own thoughts on Agust D's Triology:*
Yoongi has shared his mental health issues with us since the beginning, and he stated how some of his roughest times were in the early days, like from 2014 to 2016, how he developed social anxiety at age 18, he was dealing with depression and OCD. BTS had hate coming at them from all angles, and it took a toll on them in the early years. So hearing all the other things he was dealing with as well, just puts things into perspective. He's such a strong person. In the making video, he said the scars we create are of our own making. So the best way for him to represent that was the way that he did with the scar on his face. And the medicine he took was for his condition. He talked about how he saw a psychiatrist and his parents went with him, and they said they didn't know who he was anymore. This was in "The Last" from his first mixtape Agust D.
He said how could anyone know him when he doesn't know himself, so that phrase "I don't know your name" made sense to me. Looking back at repressed memories. Thankfully he got through all of it, and now is healed to a certain degree. I see the rain as a shift., He also talked about "What doesn't kill you make you stronger", and he is now blooming like a lotus flower. The lotus flower is very resilient, and can grow in mud and water, like on a lake or pond. So I see the rain as cleansing, and healing.
He also said in the behind the scenes on Daechwita, that the mad King was the Agust D from his first Mixtape in 2016, and the peasant was from his 2020 mixtape D-2. You can see the scar is very raw in that video on both of them, maybe slightly less for the 2020 Agust D. In Haegeum, i interpret it as Agust D from 2020 is the Police detective/corrupt Boss, with the partially healed scar, and the Agust D that kills, and steals the money with no scar is D-Day Agust D. The one that is mostly healed and is talking about freedom. (Do we ever completely heal from our scars?) In an interview with IU, and in the D-Day film, he talks about how he was very angry and now he has forgiven the haters and is living in the present now. So his music moving forward may not have the angry vibe that we have seen in the past. But he is definitely not done yet.
In this video he couldn't walk through the door yet, because he was still processing everything and trying to heal. On his final day of his sold out World Tour for D-Day, which he finished in August, at the end of the concert (where he was very emotional and broke down multiple times, from all the emotions the songs bring up for him), they had that door on stage, and he walked through it at then end of the concert. He had a smile on his face and seemed very happy and content. So that signified that he has healed and come to terms with his memories and scars that he's been dealing with. This whole process of the album and tour was healing for him. I'm so happy for him. I've seen his growth in his music and how he has changed over the years. He truly seems to have healed and grown. So happy for him. He just enlisted, but he couldn't do regular service because of his shoulder injury, he had surgery and did rehab to prepare for his service. He will do alternative service. Thank you for the great review of his trilogy. And thanks for using Enjoy BTS More's videos. She does an amazing job, and really does a great service for the fandom.

I got a little emotional watching this today. I believe that today is the day that Suga goes into the military. I love all of the BTS members, but Suga touches my heart. He has been through so many hardships and I can relate. All of the BTS members are uniquely talented. I have enormous respect for them. Once you deep dive down the BTS rabbit hole, you will be ARMY forever. Individually, they are super stars. A theme you will hear over and over again is how BTS touched someone to the degree that they were healed or saved. They saved me 3 yrs ago during the pandemic.I am 69 and I was alone in the lockdowns and isolated from my daughter and friends that lived in another state. I discovered BTS and have been happier ever since. They uplifted me from my depression. I now talk to other seniors even older than myself that are ARMY. I never liked Rap that much, but now its my favorite genre. Watch Bangtan 7. My favorite BTS videos so far (no end to their catalog of music) are RM "Joke", Jin "Epiphany" live, Jungkook "Euphoria" live, JHope "More" and "Burn", V's "Enigma". They almost disbanded and one of the emotional videos about it is "Outre Tear at Wembley live" Jimin is incredible and too many of my favorites to list here. its best to watch their live performances when you can. They all write and produce. My one wish is that I live long enough to see them in concert once they reunite after military service is finished. I haven't been this excited about a group since the Beatles.

I love that you did the whole trilogy, and saw how they linked up. And I started grinning as soon as you said you wouldn't be able to get it all in one pass 😂 You really can't. You picked up a lot thematically though!
And your love for Yoongi's idiosyncratic rap delivery is one I share. The squeaks, screams, even the way he uses loud inhalation. His voice is an instrument he's not afraid to play around with.
I struggle to watch Amygdala with reactors because if they don't treat it seriously and with respect I find it really upsetting, but I trusted that you would.
It's slightly fictionalized, but the story in Amygdala is literally true. He's said it was a very hard song to write. As soon as we saw the bike ARMY knew where we were going... I really feel for him then, young and desperate, working an outside job illicitly, badly injured and trying to hide it. He was afraid he'd be kicked out of the group and not allowed to debut, not just because he broke the rules, but because he was injured.
It wasn't long that he went without treatment, thankfully, and Bang PD didn't kick him out. The company took care of him. But he didn't know if they would, and he was so scared, so desperate. He'd been trying to work as a songwriter before joining BigHit, just a kid from Daegu on his own in Seoul, getting ripped off by people with power.
All he ever wanted was music, and he thought the accident meant his desperate hope would be taken away. In other companies at the time it probably would have meant that, but Bang Si-Hyuk was trying something new in his approach with BTS. He wanted to place his trust in artists as individuals rather than seeing them as interchangable and moldable. It worked, and it changed the industry.
So Suga got initial treatment and then danced for most of another decade in constant pain, getting cortisone injections regularly, until the shoulder finally just gave out and he went for surgery. That accident really did shape his life.
He's much much happier since his surgery, and since releasing this song confronting his own trauma. Lately he's been downright giddy, and our sometimes quiet tsundere has been basically all marshmallow. 💜
Also, there's a great video of BTS content filmed while he was recovering... they brought around a cutout of him, or a picture, and performed leaving a space in the choreo. They called him on the phone a lot, too. We'd always heard that BTS wouldn't be the same without any one of the members, and it was so ridiculously touching how much they missed him.
You were struck by all the members being such accomplished soloists... I want to say that it's not an accident. They were each actively encouraged to develop their own skills as part of BTS. They tried new things - all of them have written songs, produced, etc - and learned from each other. It was a highly collaborative group, with a really solid support team (they still have a lot of the same production people they had in 2013), based on the theory that artists given resources and creative freedom would create something special.
They were also encouraged to develop as individual performers, not to try to sound alike. So we have four very very different vocal colors and three clearly distinct rap styles.
It was a really cool approach. Other groups are getting some elements of the same treatment now, and Bang PD has been experimenting with ways to generate the pressure that made BTS the group they are without destroying the young people involved 😂 he has an almost supernatural ability to pick out people with immense potential who will work hard and be successful in collaborative teams.
    I wrote you a book 🤣 oops

Great book! I laughed out loud when you described Suga as a marshmallow now because that is so true. If I have a bias it's Yoongi, I guess, although it's not like any of them are less than wonderful. This recent Yoongi era has been such a delight, seeing him look so centered and comfortable in his skin, performing with his entire being, laughing more easily, showing love for his members openly. I want someone to look at me the way he watches Jungkook Jungkooking 🤣 he was radiating pride.

Suga deserved the trilogy for sure so thank you!!!! He has created and produced most of BTS music and his solo work is fantastic, so he is really a genius in my book! Knowing his personal story from what Suga has told over the years, the conclusion with Amygdala was heartbreaking yet so perfect. When I saw him recreating his accident as a delivery boy wow that was tough but he took the pain of that for years quietly to avoid getting into trouble with the company, though later when he shared the truth, they supported him to get surgery and the right treatments he needed. Thanks for this! Hope you guys do Snooze next!

  • @sharonhope
    @sharonhope Před 8 měsíci +55

You guys might be the first reactors to do the trilogy in one hit - of the ones I follow at least - thank you :)
Watching him perform this song live [Amygdala] was totally gut wrenching - but also amazingly healing - for the artist and for the listener - and his last concert , August 6th this year, that door takes on a whole new significance. Yoongi has battled some true demons and overcome them, including suicidal thoughts - this trilogy is his artistic representation of that long battle.
He may have wondered prior to D-Day and the tour whether he could do it [solo tour], whether he could free himself [from the past] - but he did.
As for what to react to re: Hobi [J Hope] - definitely More and On the Street - perhaps also Daydream and Airplane - BORAHAE
As for Bangtan themselves - there is a phrase or saying that goes a bit like this - Lightning in a bottle is magic - cause how else would you get lightning in a bottle - that's what BTS is ...lightning in a bottle :)

Even in the BTS discography you can see they like to explore different genres, so it's hard to pick one to define them. And in the solos it's even more clear the differences.
For J-Hope I recommend the titles "More", "Arson" and "On the Street", in this order. He was the first member to debut an official solo album (J hope, RM and Agust D had released solo mixtapes). "More" was the first title song of the album Jack in the Box, followed by "Arson". "On the Street" is not from the album, it's a single released this year as a gift for fans before he enlisted, just like "the Astronaut" by jin. It features his model idol J-Cole.
For some context, J-Hope is considered the sunshine of BTS, bc he has that energy that keeps everyone happy, and he is the main dancer in BTS, so the album Jack in the Box was shocking for it's sound and for not having a single choreography song. He even attended Lollapalooza as the first korean headliner and a lot of people commented that it didn't sound like kpop at all. Sounded more like a rock concert :)

He's giving advice and comfort to the junior artists in the Kpop industry so they don't have to go through what he and the other BTS members did. Or at least the juniors don't have to feel alone like BTS did.

It's so interesting seeing first reactions from people who genuinely know nothing about them or much about the culture. On the official video for Amygdala it has a warning about the themes. I hope your usual audience was okay. These ones have a multitude of layers and are probably best for later in the BTS journey. As individuals, the members have always felt able to tackle more controversial and personal themes in their music.

The accident shown in the amygdala mv was real too. He used to work as a delivery boy during his trainee days but got into an accident. He said when he opened his eyes the car's wheel was almost touching his face, it was that close. Messed up his shoulder for a really long time, but he somehow held on for years to not disrupt bts activities. He got surgery in 2020 though!!!
His mother's heart surgery he mentioned before in an old 2015 song. His father's cancer was new information to us. There's also glimpses of meds which,,, i don't want to speculate on. The safest and least painful guess i can make is that they are for his mental health issues, which he has mentioned multiple times (social anxiety, ocd, and adhd).
He seems a lot better now though. He is on his way to healing and has mentioned that he has put a lot of things behind. And the sweetest thing ever on his final concert was revealed. BTS all have matching tattoos of "7", btu yoongi never revealed it and it turned into a fandom joke. He revealed it on his last day, and it was right next to his shoulder surgery scar!!! And his concert sets mimicked the amygdala set, and on the last day he walked out the door. So i think he is doing well now. Hopefully itll just get better every day for him. he deserves it. he's so kind and warm. if you guys really get into bts more youll see why we love him so much

A Very big THANK YOU!! No other reactors have given this the true respect it deserves. 👏 👏👏👏👏 Suga is and has been called a genius.
His own life struggles have been laid bare so he can help others. Hw is the strongest person I've ever seen in the music industry, and at 63 I've seen quite a few.
I saw the bold headed guy wipe a tear at the end😂
That how his trilogy effects most people.
    Your reaction was great.
Suga's MV are like a mini drama or movie, for him to have the scope to put it together shows off his genius. Yes he had help but mostly it is His perspective on how it should play out.
Yes, he took pain killers and depression medication, which had him sleepy and a little out of it at times, you can see it in his early years, tho some people will disagree but its a fact. He also did at one time try to commit suicide with the pills but his roommate Jin found him, he's talked about it only a few times , another thing that has been agured about but did happen.
As you saw in the last video, the hospital lights flashing by and the gurney rolling away.
Anywho, im sure you've been told many things so I'll stop there.
People or Army's will disagree on many things about each member but the most important thing is for you to understand that each person is totally committed to each other in this group of bandmates.
They started together at the ages of 15,16,17, and 13.
Korean age use to go different from ours. So Yes, they grew up together, had only each other, while training they could only go home on a break which was about three years after they debuted not counting the training years, and when they did it was like for 3 days.
So for many years these young man only had each other, to learn from, lean on and take comfort from because of everyday stress and working. That has forged a bond that will never be broken.
We will wait for each ones return from the military and love and pray for them each.

In Amygdala's MV, he is still trapped in a memory, but in his last concert he finally through the door. He finally healed. I love BTS because they have storytelling that always connects one album to another, even in their photoshoots, the story continues.

Incredible. Yoongi has many of my favorites songs, even tho I don't like rap, he makes the songs a whole journey, they are interesting and deep. My favorite in this trilogy is Amygdala, I can't stop listening to it, and it's so personal, I feel so much everytime.

Amygdala is a symbolic representation of his own journey and experiences. The wreck was real and was a seminal event in his life (in a bad way).

I'll refrain from writing an essay, because I definitely COULD, but I just wanted to say that during the entirety of his world tour, he'd finish the concert very abruptly. of course, he'd given his thanks and love and showed off his live band, but once the final final song finished, he walk off stage without looking back and the whole stage would darken.
During the final show, which was a three night encore of the tour in Seoul, the lights stayed on. He walked to the back of the stage where there was the Amygdala door. And he turned around to army to wave goodbye with a smile. And he finally walked through the door.
His whole tour and so much of his work has so much symbolism embedded in very raw emotion, but each thing has its own meaning and its own future. Yoongi aka Suga aka Agust D (which is backwards for Daegu Town - his hometown - Suga) has said that with his album D-Day, he is saying goodbye the character of Agust D. Agust D was an outlet for a lot of Yoongi's more complicated/personal emotions as he battled with his own unique circumstances, e.g. his car accident, his depression, his anger. Walking through the door, he's able to close that chapter of his life and go forward more healed and at peace. It's *really* powerful for the people who know and love him, to know how far he's come on his journey and we're all so proud and happy for him. It *also* gives many of us (myself very much included) hope that we all can someday reach our own doors and be able to walk through. When you do listen to Snooze (GREAT TRACK), you'll see Yoongi giving more of that encouragement that "you can make it" and furthermore, that he'll be with us every step of the way, in his own way, supporting us and always believing in us without making anything feel forced or too incredible. He makes it natural - "you can and will and that's that and I'm in it for the long haul till you do"
I said I wouldn't write an essay, but Yoongi's one of my biggest inspirations and comforts (all 7 are) so.. here I am haha

I do feel like Agustd does have a dark past, which informs his art - what I really admire about him is that he shares his history through music, and I think this willingness to talk about mental wellness and mental illness is a testament to Suga’s emotional intellect, he can, and I think he does, create space for others to share and seek healing for themselves…BTS as a team are also good at lifting a metaphorical ban regarding sharing of life struggles. It’s part of what makes me a fan…

Suga is actually the main producer in bts and has produced and won awards for production for other artists. RM is the main songwriter in Bts although the 3 rappers always write their own raps for their solo work and group work. They are all completely different musically. But Rm and Suga are very good at creating songs that work for one member in particular or for the group as a whole . They are all just simply amazing and now that they’ve done solo projects and concentrated on their flavor and color , they will create magic when the return together as a group. All 7 members have a great bond. There’s no competition, no jealousy, no envy etc among them. And they celebrate each other’s achievements. I always say if one BTS member does well then the group does well because everything they do is for the groups well being in mind. That’s why if your an ARMY you support all members equally. Even if that members music isn’t your fav, we support them.

The greatest thing about BTS is that their songs speaks to us and conveys our thoughts and emotions in a beautiful poetic way that's relatable, resonates, heals and stays in our hearts and soul. They truly are The Magnificent Seven!
Love that you did the trilogy together because it makes it easier to see the connections that way. SUGA is known to be an introvert but when it comes to his music, he wears it on his sleeves. You can't help but to truly feel his emotions in his songs and they are generally very raw. I definitely resonated and cried with AMYGDALA.

Thank you for the opportunity to learn more about this phenomenal artist. I am relatively new to the “rabbit hole” that is BTS. I have so much respect for each member and each of their unique and diverse talents. The last song in this trilogy has left me gutted. Through the art of music, Suga was able to reveal the depth of debilitating pain, while still expressing his continual hope and drive to defeat its pull. He is a modern poet. I am thankful to know that he is healing and pray that each day, each project and each personal revelation brings him closer to complete deliverance and peace. His talent and courageous honesty is a salve to so many of us with similar struggles.

Face to face with personal deep emotions n feeling is not easy, there's no boundary in music but music do have own signature spot to deliver preferable persona for vast type of fans n music listener. Therefore the consideration to take into account what type of music suit what kind of persona musician or presenter is essentially important to take all liking as overall. Thus, solo pieces can cope up with different persona n route than normal reputation or identity diffentiation is neccesary done for best interest n intention. BTS music is limitless, however there's so much uncertainty musical explore, ere solo music stood out n deliver best chance n freedom to let members florist what kind of music that speak to them personal, without disrupt original persona build up. I like the idea 7 ppl 7 music, at the end all xomes togather as whole powerful group BTS 🎉

In the scenes where he is popping pills, you can also see the prescription pill bottles on the table. We are not sure if these are for his anxiety/ depression and/or for the physical pain he suffered due to the motorcycle accident. He worked as a delivery driver to make ends meet when he was a trainee for the cash-strapped Bighit Music company. (Now thanks to BTS, Bighit Music is part of HYBE Corporation, the biggest music company in Korea and among the top 5 in the world) He kept it from the company out of fear of being kicked out. After he told them they agreed to pay for his University fees so he didn’t have to work part time. He had the accident prior to their 2013 debut and treated his injured shoulder with physical therapy and shots for years until he finally had it surgically repaired in late 2020. He was out for 3 months so during that time on BTS lives and logs, & Run BTS episodes he was represented by a cardboard cutout or photo. In the end of the year TV award show performances for Dynamite and Life Goes on and other songs, they left a space for him in the choreo, and his stand-in was a snowman in one! You can also see in some scenes he is eating almonds- this is symbolic. The amygdalae are almond- shaped structures in the brain. Also both RM and Suga read the Korean novel Almond, about a man who was born with underdeveloped amygdalae and therefore cannot feel emotions. He started his required military service recently, doing alternate service in a government office instead of the Korean Army, which we believe is related to the shoulder injury. Even though it was repaired and he no longer has pain, combat training could aggravate it. Alternate service is 21 months instead of the 18 mos Jin & Jhope are serving and the others will serve.

Yoongi basically had a really tough life, before and even during BTS years, with a lot of problems stemming from poverty, going days without food, getting scammed out of lyrics he sold to get bare minimum money, getting in an accident while working as a delivery driver and having a fucked up should for years, etc. Throughout the years he has opened up more about those struggles as well as his mental health struggles and his overcoming of those. His album D-Day, including Haegum and Amygdala, especially show those things.

Thank you for doing the trilogy! And to answer some of your burning questions:
Yes, all 7 have different individual musical colours, yes all 7 are talented, yes they all get along and they are a family. All 7 are passionate about music so they are all fans of each other's tastes and abilities and that's why they're going to stay together forever. Apobango (which means ARMY and BTS forever, yes it's a love story)
Also, my bet is Richard will start liking rap a lot more like I did because he's already curious about different rap styles. Reference: 15:51

first of all, thank you for reacting to all three mvs! daechwita is just as you said, it grabs your attention right away because of how it opens and then yoongi’s rapping is explosive. i don’t know if you guys noticed but jin and jungkook had cameos in the mv 😆😆😆 anyway, my favorite part of daechwita is the switch up in flows, where he was tied up. yoongi just has this very flow that is uniquely him and his how his words are right in your face yet also very meaningful.
haegeum is a continuation of daechwita but in a more modern setting. where the emperor in daechwita got shot by the rebel, here the police chief and the thief is in a similar setting. the scar is symbolic as this can be seen in both mvs. i had to watch this mv twice so i can concentrate on the storyline and the lyrics separately 😆 unlocking the forbidden thing from what i understood from yoongi’s explanation is breaking through the stereotypes and the “standards” that have been set in the korean music industry. and yes, he did emulate heath’s joker in that ending scene 😊😊😊
amygdala is honestly… watching that the first time got me emotional because of how yoongi chose to tell and dramatize his story. this is where the scar was created. and you guys will see how and why. this mv for me is anger, angst, despair, struggle and most of all, loneliness all rolled into one. yoongi shows his inner struggles and how he might appear ok on the outside but banging on the door on the inside, trying desperately to open the door. amygdala is his story. from his motorbike accident to his parents’ illnesses to his depression and anxiety. his experiences and his internal struggle. he had laid all of himself in this song, opened himself up to army and everyone who had watched and listened to this song.
bts is bts but all 7 members have their own preferences and tastes in music. you guys will find out just how unique, diverse and colorful each of their styles are as you guys go on this rabbit hole of a journey 😆😆😆
as for my suggestions for j-hope’s songs… i’d say: Daydream, Ego, More and Arson 😊😊😊
