      @@stevenborg102 Well getting a SHOT of vaccine isn't a particularly ideological thing. Why is a Covid vaccine politicized, was getting a polio vaccine controversial?
      Other than this example though, I think Peter Hitchens is pretty principled.

      Calling it a vaccine gets emergency use authorisation. Calling it a vaccine has positive connotations with the public.
      Experimental jab is what it is, and would make people think twice about the lack of longitudinal impact data on human health. We are already seeing spiralling cases of pericarditis in young males.
      Think Thalidomide. People have short memories.

      @@Wilko710 is Peter hitchens crying by pointing out the objective failures of brexit? the most disastrous policy decision ever which will have long term effects for the UK. Brexit isn't over its only just begun and all you can do is call people soft for pointing out its failings. I thought brexit was supposed to fix immigration according to nigel and yet he's always on GB news crying its worse than ever. We've destroyed our political soft power and our economy and we are heading towards the seperation of the UK. I'm sure you claim to be a patriot as well but for those who really care about this country and aren't thick as mince meat it's clear brexit is the final death rattle of the UK. I'm sure you knew though exactly what you were voting for.

      Agreed. Tucker Carlson has a new show over in the US (Tucker Carlson Originals, or something similar) and it occupies an hour's slot in the schedule so it would be great to see far more time alotted to this type of chat.

      I loved listening to Christopher (NOT Chris please!!!) as well except for his occasional overt vulgar sleezyness. However I am much more at home with Peter's unashamed 'uptightness'. If you look up the debate between the two brothers I thought Peter won convincingly but he cannot compete with Christopher's amazing sense flair and he knew it.

    Peter is very smart, totally negative, and was quite insulting to Farage - as, by dint of his haughty dismissal of anything other than his own opinion, he is to practically everyone he discusses anything with. Farage is indeed 'down to earth' and focused on achieving things .. Hitchens is content to smart in his own bubble, making little contribution.

      Pretty much all Mailonline comments sections are moderated now. For a paper that is supposed to advocate for free speech, they sure don't practice what they preach!

    Peter Hitchens has never been a dull listen, though we don't share a great deal of parity in our views. I'm a few decades younger so perhaps my cynicism has yet to undergo it's full marination! His voice however is unquestionably an important one, the introduction didnt do him much justice, he's more than a journalist, he's a polemicist. Whatever you think of him, his patriotism has never been in doubt. Courageous man. This is fast becoming a decent segment on British news, who'd have thought?

      I think he's a defeatist, though none the less interesting and insightful, but he's still a defeatist. But yes you are right alcohol is very addictive and dangerous as heroin and cocaine and is just as lethal. Whilst damaging family and friends to, as they can suffer just as much in the pain. Unfortunately I only know to well as I am a recovering addict, but I would never judge or hinder someone who can just enjoy a pint or two. Enjoy your w/e.

      Yeah. That's draconian. Having been an addict I think that you need to educate people. Let them know that they have a choice but that you will have to live with my consequences of that choice.
      The two main ills of drug education are glorification and authoritarianism. Find the middle line and let people make an informed decision.

In the context of justice does it make logical sense to encarcerate someone for 5 years for possessing a drug (cannibis, we're not talking heroin here) when people who commit greivious bodily harm (or worse) often get lesser sentences? Also what about alcohol? That kills 10's of thousands a year, go google how many deaths cannabis causes a year, I'll wait for the answer.

    In Hitchens opinion I do not have right to determine what I put in my own body, seems authoritative to me, am I not free to make my own choices as long as I cause harm to no other.
