Of course, it's the origin of Mothra.
Ehhh. Mothra is more silkworm.

*OF COURSE!!!!!*
The way Nick Adams said "He's clearly caucasian" with a completely straight face...damn, he should have won an Oscar for that performance alone.
"Every mushroom cloud has a silver lining" is just genius.
I just hope I don't have to use that quote in my real future life...
Well that makes you feel better you'll also quoting Owl City song lyrics.
"FrIeNDLy mUsHrOOM"
That mushroom cloud might be your light at the end of your tunnel. Maybe hopefully not.
It will probably be a famous quote if the world doesn’t calm down
Grateful dead touch of grey.... mushrooms..... I need lightning, a lab assistant, 2 interns, and a medical Science stuff grant... For science stuff..
He’s larger than 10 humans, my God we’re gonna need 11 humans at least to take him down.
10 humans would be 18-20 meters.
@@MinscFromBaldursGate92 So Toho's Frankenstein Stands at 67-69 Feet
Why not just call Godzilla
@@thekeeperofsecrets1615 Godzilla Is more than twice as tall as Franky. Toho's Franky Is 20 meters tall and sixties Godzilla is 50 meters tall.
CaptainMarvell92 Returns neat but I was joking
Technically, as Frankenstein's monster is the doctor's creation, it is very much his child... which the monster even states explicitly at the end of the story, as it takes on the Frankenstein name for itself, meaning the name DOES apply to both the doctor AND the monster! Behold my... uh... WORDS!
That's not what happens in Mary Shelley's novel.
The creature only says "I ought to be thy Adam" to Victor. That's an accusation that Victor played god, not that the creature chooses to name himself.
Wulf Frankenstein: you mean that, that is my brother?
Ygor: but his mother, Was Lightning

*Baragon needs more love.*
I hope somewhere in Monsterverse they bring Baragon in.
Me too, also he would be very easy to put into the Monsterverse .
Yayayya
Poor thing just gets wrecked all the time.
I agree, he needs head-pats and belly scratches :3 ...what? He's cute!
"I'd almost forgotten about that." was an incomplete translation. What he really said was, "I'd almost repressed my memories of that time. Now, when I try to sleep, once again, my soul will be filled with the roaring, then the awful silence, and finally, the screaming. So thanks for that!" Japanese is a complex and subtle language. A lot of meaning is in inflection.
Jesus, what a raw line.
Thanks, now i don't if you're being serious or just joking.
@@Another_Hibiki I don't know about the first part but he's right about the last part
Changing people's eye color is hard work. Not like the bear cages.
Nope, I've heard Japanese voice actors. They always sound like they're barking orders.
"Me, Frankenstein, kick butt!" *Gets beaten by Baragon* "Me, Frankenstein, need new strategy."
Think the most clever pithy saying regarding the Frankenstein pedantry is this:
"Knowledge is knowing that Frankenstein is not the monster. Wisdom is knowing that Frankenstein *is* the monster."
I've seen worse fathers and Frankenstein was at least there for his kid.
@@dansmith1661 In the movies, yes. In the novel, he takes off once his son is born and tries to avoid the consequences of his actions.
Also, for those who don't know already, Baragon was played by none other than Godzilla himself, the late, great Haruo Nakajima! (Who was a super nice fellow, by the way.) I actually like this movie a lot, since it has atmosphere and pathos as well as action; Furuhata Koji does a great job playing Frankenstein, IMO. He really makes you feel sympathy for the poor guy throughout the movie. Pity he only made one other movie ( a rom com, of all things) then more or less fell off the face of the earth. Definitely a fun movie to hunt down, I think.
This version of Frankenstein can actually get away with not being called “Frankenstein’s Monster”, due to it being mostly confirmed that the heart is from Dr. Frankenstein himself.
3:08 "It's their fault for not reading a history book and knowing this would happen."
Yeah, the kids these days.
I kind of want to pet baragon, he’s looks so cute
Lord Inquisitor same bro he’s adorable
I want to cuddle him!
Looks cuter than that Franky monster.
I actually stumbled across footage with the original audio of the actress in the suit left in "roaring" while filming and it made Baragon 100 times more adorable. I never cared for him before, but now I'm a fan.
Baragon is what pug dogs would look if they were prehistoric. 😋😋😋😋😋😋
I actually watched this recently, on DVD which included the all the footage shot for the international release as extras, including the octopus fight. I found it to be a whole lotta fun.
This movie was good. And we got a classic Godzilla monster, Baragon. Thank you.

Baragon: i dont know...

Baragon: A very brief cameo
Varan: Me too.
Another interesting piece of trivia is that Toho wasn't the first to come up with a Kaiju version of Frankenstien's monster. Back in the 30's there where plans by Willis O'Brien to write another "King Kong" sequel after "Son of Kong".
The film of course was gonna be called "King Kong vs Frankenstien" or "King Kong vs Promethous". In addition to a script being written there's some artwork for the film as well. The plot was gonna be about a descendant of Dr. Frankenstien creating a monster of African animal parts and putting it in a show. A competitive Carl Denham reveals that Kong is still alive and was smuggled back to Skull Island.
The script was kept in Development Hell for decades before ending up in Toho's hands where to was eventually reworked into two different films; this film and "King Kong vs Godzilla".
You are quite correct! (That's one of my favorite film anecdotes!)
2:26, The Greatest Battle Cry.😂😂🤣🤣
I’ve read that the Baragon Suit was literally loved to death being rented out, having the head changed frequently, it was used on the Ultra Man set frequently. By the time DAM was made in 1968 the suit was completely worn out & that’s why Gorosaurus had to do the Arch De Triumph scene in the film. The shot of Baragon at the end was old test footage for FCTW
We discovered recently that this isn't true. Gorosaurus was substituted for the Arc de Triumph scene because they were afraid the scene would damage Baragon's ears. We also found some storyboards for the scene that feature Gorosaurus.
Yes, Baragon was used to make a bunch of Ultra monsters, but he was back and in shape for "Destroy All Monsters." Why his time is so limited does remain a mystery (he was supposed to defend the Kilaak base at Mt. Fuji, not Godzilla).
The shot of Baragon at the end of "Destroy All Monsters" is NOT old test footage. It is brand new footage of Nakajima on the Monsterland set. You can also see brand new footage of Baragon on Monsterland on the base monitors throughout the movie.
Fun Fact: The actress in Baragon's costume actually used to do her own roars for when they signaled for her to roar. It was her version of emulating the monster to better play the part. Which just gives me so much happiness.
You mean baragon from gmk
Do you mean Godzilla,Mothra,King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack? or GMK?
Method Kaiju Acting!
Urm you mean in GMK. Gotta clarify lol you might confuse some folks
You know her boyfriend at the time whispered in her ear at *just* the right time "Come-on baby, let me hear it." and she roared for him. Then passed out.
If only this was in the Dark Universe.
+wstine79
So it would flop?
And have tom cruise in it?!?
This is how the dark universe and the monsterverse crossover
Except Legendary Pictures is back with WB...though I think that's what has been delaying Universal's big announcement...
Still better than "I, Frankenstein"
Tom Cruise IS Frankenstein...or maybe put him in the Baragon costume
Man, This movie was stupidly fun to watch.
Rest In Peace Tadao Takashima you amazing actor
Yeah boy Frankenstein conquers the world can't wait for your review war of the gargantuas
David Brown I think he already did it
Cristobal Aguilera if you watch the end of the episode he hints on reviewing it next.
Basically this movie answers the question “How high can you get and still write a movie script?”
If you review Frankenstein's army that would make my whole year.
BARAGON!!!!!
Actually the original idea for this movie was pitched by none other than Willis O'Brien himself. It was originally going to be King Kong vs Frankenstein, before Toho bought the rights to Kong and made King Kong vs Godzilla. There was also going to be Frankenstein vs Godzilla, but I think they scrapped that and gave ole Frankie his own movie.

PERFECT, YOU SHOULD DO MORE KAIJU MOVIES.
Ian M there are plenty he hasn't done like atragon, the mysterians, varan the unbelieveable, war of the gargantuas, space amoeba, just to name a few.
Well actually it's not Frankenstein it's really Frankenstein's monster
We have to mention it to help stop the spread of misconceptions.
David Wührer Exactly
2:19 I think this part shows you.
And also, since the monster is anyway a son of Victor, he can perfectly be called Frankenstein
I loved the voice of Bruce Campbell in the Evil Dead that was brilliant
11:20
While we were indeed suppose to get a "Godzilla vs. Frankenstein" movie, the roles mentioned here are switched around. Frankenstein was seen as the aggressor, and Godzilla was meant to be an Anti-Hero
Also personally, I thought both endings were asspulls since they both come outta nowhere...
yeah i read that they got godzilla out of ice just like in king kong vs godzilla, and they thought it would make sense but still never went with it
Oh, yeah, I agree. The same thing happened in War of Gargantuas-RANDOM VOLCANO. These are good films, but the ending battles, while well choreographed and dramatic, don't really have a satisfying ending.
The way I hear it, it all grew out of a Willis O'Brien project called King Kong vs. Frankenstein. No one wanted for some reason and eventually it found its way to Toho where Frank and Kong were split up. The result was Kong vs. Godzilla and this.
That's my impression too.
Tareltonlives Thank you patriotic Tom Servo. But I'm not taking cyanide either.

@ boi no its not.
christopher corvino Agreed completely.
Fun fact Mary Shelly based the original story on the old jewish parable of the Golem. & in that story the Golem grows every day till eventually it grows so big that when the rabbi who created it erases the letters on it forehead to destroy it. It falls apart, lands on & crushes him. So in a strange way the monster growing in size isnt too far off of its roots.
Kumi Mizuno was a damned good looking woman in the 60's

I can almost not blame Nick Adams for having an affair with her. Akira Takarada nicknamed him "Mr. Horny".
Ahhhh, Brandon, finally someone noticed how crazy our German kaiju titles are. And your theory even may make sense.
BARAGON the cutest kaiju!
At least Hiroshima’s bombardment created the series that made me find this channel. Also I would agree that Baragon is a mutated puppy but I did watch the WIKIZILLA profile so... yeah.
I clicked because of your thumbnail for this video. I recognized the character Frankenstein Jr., and I'm shocked you actually used him in the title screen for this, considering that's a pretty obscure cartoon show (of course, I happen to be a fan of old school Hanna-Barbera, and the second half of that particular cartoon is a favorite of mine, but I digress).
3:24 Holy shit! Putin was a doctor in Hiroshima in the 1960s?!
Ironically, the actor Nick Adams was of direct Ukrainian descent from both parents.. Probably wouldn't have been too happy if he were still around to see this comment... Lol

7:34 That actor was also in King Kong Vs. Godzilla from 1962.
The roar that was stolen when Frankenstein saved the dude was actually varans roar who’s roar got stolen by gorosaurus, Showa baragon, megalon, rodan (in his solo film) and Godzilla amphibia
actually, willis obrien himself contemplated a giant frankenstein movie, with a sequel in which he would fight king kong. there are production drawings for both projects. also, an excellent giant frankenstein homage is the story by clark ashton smith "the cplossus of ylourgne".
Yep-John Beck bought it from him, then sold it to Toho. Toho wanted them to fight dinosaurs, though-so first they considered Frankenstein vs Godzilla, then made Kong vs Godzilla and Frankenstien vs Baragon. O'Brien and Harryhausen never forgave Beck or Toho for this.

The timeline adds up. Find away to get that unstoppable heart to modern day lake forest green. And you have the most believable orgin of another monster.
You should do the Gremlins rip off The Munchies. Plenty of material there.

1:42 Damn that publicity poster for Frankenstein's Army totally sold me into watching it.
All the German movies have Frankenstein in the title because in that cinematic universe every monster that shows up spawned from Frankenstein’s body.

-Godzilla vs King Kong
You also might want to consider reviewing the 1976 King Kong Movie & its' sequel, "King Kong Lives"
