Thanks for the video - love seeing what New England offers for rocks.

My pleasure! The Ammonoosuc is one of the prettiest rivers around. Look for more of my videos on the 'Noosuc.

There are many places along the Ammonoosuc that are pretty. I'll try rockhounding in all my favorite spots.

I grew up and live in Boston area, I love NH, reminds me of collecting sea glass, I live in the coast and it was my favorite pastime I learned from my nanna as a boy.

Your nanna was a lady with fine taste. You should feel privileged to have learned from her.

Howdy there Granite Guy, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Beautiful spot and some nice rocks, thanks for showing us.

Not too much more rockhounding this year, the snow is falling as I type. I'll try different spots on the Ammonoosuc in the spring.
Went to Montreal for Thanksgiving, just a regular day up there. Had brunch with the creator of micropul (we played to a 33-33 tie).

It would be nice if we saw some of your finds

Good note. I'm still new to video production, so I often start editing and realize I don't have the footage I need to make a complete story. I'll work on getting more coverage.

This one has more views than any of my other videos. Though I prefer my videos where the stones end up being worked.

Would help if you explained what you were doing/looking for 👍🏻

I like to look for rocks to make into 40mm diameter spheres. In some of my vids, I take some stone and show the sphere-making. But in some, I find no appropriate material.
My rockhounding vids this summer will be improved since I now have better production and editing skills.

your videos would be so useful if you would just tell us what we're looking at.

I agree. If only I knew enough to provide that info, I surely would.
It's New Hampshire, so a good guess is always "some kind of granite."

@@GraniteGuy I'm a plant guy, I know pretty much all the plants from Kentucky to Maine. I don't know a lot about geology. I know more about it where I grew up than here in NH. I took a deep dive into geology last night, and it is not simple. Basically, the three most common groups of rocks in NH are schist, granite, and gneiss. These rocks can then be further divided seemingly indefinitely into different types of rocks. They're defined by their mineral components, some common ones being quartz, various types of feldspar, plagioclase, mica, and biotite.

What a lame video. I thought rock hounding involved looking for a gem or a nice rock worth polishing not spaying rocks with a water bottle. This just proves to me there isn't crap in New Hampshire worth wasting your time looking for.

    • @GraniteGuy
      @GraniteGuy  Před 4 měsíci +1

New to videography, I'm on a steep learning curve; check out my newer videos for less lameness. My spheremaking videos feature "nice rocks worth polishing" found here in New Hampshire. And although gems never make an appearance, at least the rivers here are prettier than yours!

Try Northeast Prospector, he pulls gems from my neck of the woods. Check out the beryl crystals: czcams.com/video/7ZEiurYZK7g/video.html
