There is a very big difference between a dishwasher and having a mum who owns a cleaning mangement company. Choosing to understand the business nature and expansion is worth giving up degree for.
This
True, the shortcut route to not getting your hands dirty and starting from ground up is to get a degree or some form of formal education.
Agreed!
he actually can choose not to work with her mum tho
The power of framing and narrative. He literally had an option to pick and choose, and that alone shows he is not in a struggle. The very opposite.
"Being a servant doesn't mean you're the lowest. It's a joy to serve people." Really well said
Indeed! This sentence was taught to me before and I held dearly in my heart. Due to how fast-paced and how difficult a job could be, I have forgotten the lesson to serve people with a joyful heart. Thank you for the reminder ❤
But in society, how many people really embraces such thought? I agree with what he said. But it seems like the world wont think that way.
“There is no greater purpose than serving others” , said while pumping gas at the station. Quote from the movie Peaceful Warrior.
Very wise!
my body doesnt agree with that. im fucking creaking everytime i get home. can barely drive my car. too tired to enjoy my few free evening hours
His family may be the business owner, but I believe this boy's upbringing is sound & grounded. He is building empathy to be a good future leader.
I really like how you say "They are the invisible force that keeps your lives running" its really so true!
its like a puzzle , for it to be complete even the smallest piece must be present for it to be complete! Thank you for being so diligent in this line of work! Love it when the place is clean!!! ❤❤
This is how I feel about garbagemen. I have a great deal of respect for them. Without them, society simply wouldn't function.
the biggest moral of this story is NEVER to look down on anyone who is earning an honest living
Especially in this current world. A job is a job.
Exactly!
Spread this message 😢❤
Off course! If my mum owns a cleaning firm. But the title is very misleading
Such a well mannered young man ……. Is a respected job no need to bother what people said !!!!! Your mum must b very proud of U. 加油喔!!!!!
Humble boss, very nice to see he understands what it takes to run a business. Hope he can use what he learned to make it better or if already good, just maintain can already.
I think the poor perception of dishwashers are not the same for every country. It is common to find young people working in the same jobs in Turkey and people do not share the same low perception of this job. A job is a job. Parents got to stop teaching their kids to judge different occupations based on the pay. It's a stereotype that needs to be unlearned.
Precisely. I saw young people working such jobs in japan too at airports etc. It's a honest job. some japanese people work as cleaners and they are proud of their job, unlike in sg, where people tend to look down on cleaners and jobs they deemed as low class.
@@Sephira08some people in Singapore look down on anyone earning less money than them
Sad but true@@wtfbbqz
Soyuz Nerushimy Respublik Svobodnyks... 😢
An honest job is a respected job. Don’t give them crap
When we serve, it doesn’t mean we are at the lowest. Serving in whatever form it takes, bring joy to the soul. Well done! Keep the faith !
Getting a degree does not guarantee anything. Big respect to this young man for doing what he enjoys. What a good son he is to help out his mom.
The dishwasher who speaks better than a politician and looks better than a lawyer😎😎👍👍💪
Since when is lawyer good looking?
@@jimw8615 Don’s heavily influenced by the entertainment industry 😆
@@Th3MostWond3rfulTim3OfTh3Y3aru trying to be a smart Alec. Don’t even know wat I mean.
I have utmost respect for him, especially since he chose this line of work to honour his mother's hard work. Truly a wonderful young man!
Mad respect to this kid. Admirable energy and attitude.
If this is what my relatives meant when they said ill end up a dishwasher, i should have thanked them for the compliment
This is an insanely cinematic video! Congrats to all how worked on this one 👍🏽
Your down to earth character and mindset in running this business will bring u far for sure! ❤
Respect. Indeed everyone plays a part in the society to keep systems running.
3:10 this is such a refreshing perspective. Many of us grow up with the expectations to go to college, be a lawyer, be engineer, get 9 to 5 job. Often we overlooked those people who dedicated their life just to keep society going, the unsung hero. Another great videos from ogs!
Very good looking dishwasher....it's an honest job, better than most politicians that you have in the kitchen cabinet and the people that holds top management in most corporations....and also it's meditative, this bro is more awake than most educated people that you find around you...best wishes🙏
Major respect for this guy...power lah bro
Woow!!! I love that he finds joy in wanting to serve!! Singapore is a better place because of him!🙌🏼
Incredible story, thank you OGS for featuring these heroes
damn ogs, the editing of this video is pure mastery. thank you for showing us these stories, it's very much needed in a city like ours.
The videography and editing for the opening to the video - chef’s kiss!
I think the most respectable part is that he chose to focus on the family business, understand it from the ground up, and kept his head down when people made snide remarks instead of flexing his actual position on them. He could easily have said so to 'keep face' and perpetuate the stigma against such humble yet important jobs, but I think it wise that he did not do so. Kudos to that.
He is a very good looking guy dishwasher & his right it’s still honourable job in serving people . God bless u young man I salute you ❤
I actually would have wanted to be a dishwasher… it’s my favorite chore and I don’t even care if my skin gets so dry.
Keep it up, man. You seem so happy and passionate and I wish you all the best!
“It’s a joy to serve people. I find joy in serving.” Thank you!
such a wholesome story ❤❤❤
hahah it's good that he's starting from the bottom, but let's not go down the road of BS for the clickbait lah pls OGS - you are better than that - he is not 'helping his mom wash dishes' - he is helping take over his mother's business as the eventual boss of a cleaning company.
What good looking young, down to earth and a wonderful son. Most all an aunty killer 😄👍👍👏👏
i love your mindset. i can learn so much from you! thank you for your work and contribution to society ❤
I love washing dishes too . I must admit that it is therapeutic .
Love this video. Really breaks the stereotype ingrained in us that work should be about earning money and it illuminates the joy in finding fulfilment and purpose in serving others. ❤
what an intelligent and well-spoken man!!
there is a big difference between working as dishwasher for 3 meals vs understanding the business.
You have found your calling, or a path towards it. It's not easy to do so. Most people just go about life not being faced or forced into the decision. You are lucky.
I really salute ! As I also under this line to help out in my mum company as well! Let’s work hard together to make a cleanliness society😊
Bro better to wear those rubber gloves when you washing. I have a relative had a small infection that turns to one that need operation and remove the thumb. Please take care.
What a nice person!
I respect you, bro
All the best
what a humble guy! I wish him the best in his journey
Super respect!!! 😭🫶🏼 love this video!
Thank you for making me realise that I am doing nothing wrong with my life . Your way of explaining the things just paved a new bright way for me. Lately I was always kind of depressed about my job and ya same thing they say when I meet my friends. But your positive attitude change my whole concept .
Thank you and i sincerely mean it ❤
Such a good man. I wish him all the best❤
Thank you for what you doing thank you 🙏
Be proud and confident of whatever you do. That's when people can't "look down" on you.
In Chinese, there is a saying, basically translate to "There is no job too high or too low". Another saying "Every job can be admirable".
Understand your purpose, be true to yourself.
I love that u r so mature. Thank you ogs for sharing all these stories that are worth our time.
Its a win for him, he gets to work with his mum and be with her a lot! I couldn't see my self in an office job slavering away 50+ hours to hit a target, I work as a bus driver and that gives me time with my love :)
Hey bro u dropped this 👑 , you were raised by a queen hence making u a gentleman. Humility is the solid foundation of all virtues
Wow so inspiring... go Cordell!
its crazy after watching this i feel like humbled myself by alot. Huge respect to this guy.
What an amazing young man..love how he thinks!
Respect for ogs for covering such alternative stories that worth our thoughts and reflection about life
Push (from all three other corners) soaped cutlery in sink basin of soapy water to bottom left side and group together before grabbing and lifting out of soapy water to rinse.
Very impressive sharing, thanks a lot. The cleaning job is always respectful because people treat it like a dirty job, we should respect them even they are paid.
I have been working for Nordstrom habitant as their dishwasher for almost three years now and I enjoy it however it does get at times hard but you get respected by the others as long as you stay on task which I have been 😊
i actually shed tears for u man...
Zip up your lanrs when you're done
Mad respect to Cordell!!!
He's rolling managing so many cleaners!
Well said.. Honest job that put foods on the table. Being useful towards society..
He is training himself by understanding the processes and the repetitive work that could be automated. Learning many fields at the same time that is hands on, not a degree holder is willing to do. He can move on after he perfected this task. Good luck.
Wrong
@@93hothead I hv been thinking that another possibility is that in Singapore, there is this job that is not in demand. Those without a degree can look into it n the possibilities are enormous, rather than depending on foreign labour, why not Singaporeans think about it n come out with a solution. With the tourist trade booming, this is one are that has to be addressed.
His dimples look nice :)
I totally feel what he went through... As a broke masters student in the US, I worked in the school canteen, also have to clean dishes, granted got machine to clean, but I need to throw the stuff thats on the plates first, and take out the trash. It's so tiring, heavy, and smells bad. All this just for $9.50 an hour, because it was the only "legal" thing I can do (of course being a TA is better but the hours isn't enough).
Loved this video! Phenomenal editing and pacing. I was really inspired!
U done very well as a young man u understand many things 🎉🎉All the best😊
Bro, you're doing a good job. Keep it up!
This guy will definitely make it big in his life 👍👍 he will make a good politician later in his life.
Shoutout to all dishwashers in the world, i worked in a hospitality industry and i must say the dishwashers folks are the backbone of it. Without them there’ll be no smooth operation
I'm so proud of you bro 👏 👏👏🙌 ... Nothing to be shy, you earn your own money 💰...
Much respect for the guy. In fact I have lots more respect for people who do all these menial jobs for society, probably more so than investment bankers who are just shifting money from A->B->C->A while making a big commission in the process.
Awesome point of view. Kudos for sharing
He is not a dishwasher . He is the son of the boss 😂
I highly recommend the book Dishwasher: One Man's Quest to Wash Dishes in All Fifty States by Dishwasher Pete.
3:48 Auntie noticed the drip too!
Huge respect to him if he can do dishwashing for a year to understand the process and to feel what the ground feels.
When he becomes the boss, it's important that he has to gather sentiment from the ground every now and then when new process is implemented.
That opening sequence tho!!!
People who still think Dishwashing is a minimum wage job probably hasn't work in the F&B scene for decades. Dishwashers are in high demand due to lack of manpower, part time pay can be anywhere between $14-$20 per hour, which is much higher than servers and closer to PT Cook/Chef salary. Those putting $8-$10 will never get the role filled and usually force their servers to do it for $50 extra.
Love OGS video. Very meaningful
Mad mad mad respect!! Truly inspiring!! Thank you for your service
He is good Person and love ❤❤❤
😢very heartwarming
A responsible and good-looking chap. Its a potential business that many shy away.
If only i can work part time, i will choose this job. It's fun washing dishes
A friend of mine rejected a engineer job to opt for dishwasher when he realized that it can earn him 4K per month.
RESPECT🤟🏻
I used to wash dishes in my cousin's stall for quite a number of years during my studies.
And I still instinctively do it whenever I'm back at the stall in my kampung.
I would move to Singapore from Mexico to do this, and obviously study to get a degree
The feeling would be different as a dishwasher if it wasn't your mom's business. Btw, you seem to be a nice guy. all the best.
still as a boss son he still going down to do the dishwashing....
I thought he was really a dishwasher until it became clearer that he is the son of the boss of cleaning company so he is actually taking over the business but experience the work from.the bottom up i wonder if he would do this job if it wasn't his mum's company but nevertheless i respect his gracious humility and doing the work that most youngsters would shun n look down on esp in a face society like Sg where sadly such dishwashers job are associated with someone being uneducated failure in life
An honest days work . In Switzerland, Restaurant dishwashers are paid $5500 Swiss Francs.
It’s a societal issue on how we view them.
Such valuable life lessons humility and rooted in values for the children and young ones out there! Unfortunately they grow up with lots of stereotype in their minds and their parents should be the ones to receive such education of the world. Thanks to OGS for producing such videos that are worth more than just academic education!
This is a great young man, pity those who judge him.
Go cordelll 👑
This dude deserves my utmost respect.
Love this one!
Like his attitude, I would introduce my single cousins to him😊 in a heartbeat!
He’s right put your confidence in the Lord❤
He's handsome & tall..should join SIA crew😊
Gotta keep dripping!
i always help my mom to wash dishes. n i love to do it
I salute you young man🫡
