To me they are like food angels , giving and providing the best comfort food to the school kids… sustaining the best healthy food for kids and teachers alike … their efforts is definitely worth continuing, and the complement they got from their teachers and kids are their driving force to continue to contribute to society and I’m very proud of them even though I’m not from Singapore!
All the best to the Vendors Angel’s ❤👩🏻‍🍳👨🏻‍🍳❤

"Why open in school in the first place?" That's a profound good point. Good food, thoughtful & caring vendors. Malaysian schools can learn something. #MOE.

Prices of raw ingredients are going up, as much as MOE wants to set guidelines to keep prices affordable, vendors also need to earn a decent wage.

So touching! The great act is not necessarily something grand; they cook from the heart, contributing to delicious school meals. It gives me a sense of true happiness and fulfillment that spreads to others 😊

It’s a noble cause. There’s really not much profit to be earned. Most of them do it from the heart. ❤❤

Schools should subsidise the vendors. $2.70 is difficult earning for these dedicated school canteen vendors.

Some school max amount for food is $2.20 per dish
Moe should look into it as the ingredients used are increasing.

Maybe. MOE can allow these chefs to cook more food and allow public to enter the schools to eat from say 11am to 1230pm ( where the kids ain't having canteen) so as to help support these chefs financially too. Jus a thought

The school I’m working in, the canteen is really a headache. Vendors always quarreling about the food their neighbour sells conflicts with theirs but in fact it’s not. Food portion is pathetic but the price is still the same as outside and all their want is keep on increasing the price . No point. We wanted to switch to another mode of operating I.e. one vendor to manage all stores but MOE don’t allow. It’s is not easy to manage the canteen.

not forgetting school stalls don't stay open for full day, during school term vacation etc
whilst i read somewhere that rental is low, the high costs of the materials etc + the price cap on the dishes to be sold + healthier choice food options etc
--> effectively offset the profit significantly, correct?
