I'm a huge sucker for this, but I love that they made up a cipher alphabet for no reason other than flavor. You can see it at 24:37; the text kinda matches what's written on the letter. Same with the world titles on the brochures for the first seven worlds.

Never played one of these games but seen Vin play and talk about these games a lot over the years. This seems like a solid entry back and could be promising for more in the future. The story isn't as batshit insane but I feel like they don't want to scare away people just yet who are new to the games.

He's been using a Xenyx mixer this whole time? Huh.. so, there are two types of pre-amps that Behringer uses: Xenyx and Midas. The Xenyx ones suck ass and the Midas ones are pretty good. Also, if he doesn't use a whole lot of the features of the mixer itself and just wants to hook up a mic, a guitar and maybe a keyboard here and there - maybe a decent DAC / audio interface would make more sense, like Behringer's U-Phoria UMC204HD / 404HD. They're more compact, allow for direct monitoring and use Midas amps. They're also not that expensive, so there's that~

the gameplay of this looks good, but i feel like the series kinda lost its way by going away from the music style of the first two games especially since drum and bass is making such a big comeback lately
It's really great but companies are really afraid of dnb I guess cuz they want to somehow market this weird off shoot game to a wider audience. And maybe they felt removing the dnb might help with that.
It's funny how much people tend to shit on achievements, yet when it's implemented into a game, like this one, those same people seem to like it. Some may try to cope, but "beat the level in under 15 seconds" sounds a lot like an achievement to me. Oh, wait, sorry. You get some banana points or something that don't do much; totally different. Even Vinny likes the inclusion of the goals. Not to say that every game gets the same benefit that this one does, but it all just proves that achievements have a place; you know, to those who doubted it. At the end of the day it's always just personal satisfaction.
Achievements often don't integrate into the main gameplay loop, that's why people sometimes don't like time. Games like Minecraft and Super Monkey Ball use achievements correctly, but many just use them to add busy work.
@@lethauntic Achievements mainly get on my nerves when they feel like they have to give EVERY significant action in a game a achievement. The most recent Guardians of the Galaxy game has an achievement just for getting achievements and it annoys me.
Honestly I think most people who shit on achievements as a concept have just played too many games where they're poorly implemented.
Like "Oh boy I jumped 20189408 times here's your little pop-up" doesn't transform your experience in any way, whereas "Beat stage 4 without taking damage" or "Beat the game on hard without assists" definitely push the player to do things they might not otherwise and create new fun experiences for those that want to do them.
