It's pretty cool that, in "Silence In The Library", River asks the Doctor if he had done the "crash of the Byzantium" with her yet, and here we are!

I think the Doctor is more physically affectionate with Amy because he met her as a child and while she's not a child anymore, the instinct to protect/comfort doesn't fully go away now that she's grown.

Also I mean they are an intelligent species, so it always made sense to me that they had the choice to move or not, if someone looks away they CAN move but they may be smart enough to wait for the right moment to strike. In this episode it seems like they had a plan, so of course they might not move for the kill right when someone looks away, they know it’s going to happen several more times anyway. Everyone was basically briefed on how to deal with them but some still ended up looking away.

I think the Doctor is more affectionate with Amy because he met her when she was little, and it impacted her whole life. She also grew up without parents, and she's still quite young as a companion. All those things combined make him act a little more fatherly than he does with anyone else.

    Fun fact
: this is the very first episode that Matt smith filmed as the new doctor. This is one of my favourite 11th Doctor episodes but I think part 2 is better Matt is so good as the 11th doctor and Karen is really good as Amy and was really glad the weeping angels came back cuz there very good villains very scary and river is just awesome 😂 she reminds me of a woman version of Captain Jack

During it's airing in some parts of England, an animated advert for Over the Rainbow (2010) began playing over the cliffhanger. This sparked complaints to the BBC, who later apologised. The advert contained an animated Graham Norton, who joked about it on his own show - saying he finally secured a role on Doctor Who. However, his voice had already been overheard during Rose (2005), when an error in broadcasting began playing the audio of the trailer featuring Norton for Strictly Dance Fever (2005). In referring to his "appearance" in this episode, Norton then played a version of the cartoon banner, with a Dalek exterminating his cartoon self; coincidentally, the same show also featured an appearance by Karen Gillan and they spoke further about the error.

Is this the first "Come along, Pond !" ? Think so. And yep, the return of River Song, one of my faves (that rare thing in largely episodic TV of a promised arc that's allowed to fully come to fruition).
(hard to credit this was Matt Smith's first time as 11 given how he hits the ground running and has what must've been basically instant chemistry with both Karen Gillan _and_ Alex Kingston)

I love the River Doctor moments back and forth. Ah Pond foreshadowing. Angels it's an ok episode. Love the intro. The behind the scenes is really good too. It's a fair way to expand on the angels. The statues part of Blink I assume didn't mean much compared to the dead here in the maze. The stone, the projection and more.
    Space teeth hmm.

I think that smiths doctors personality is much more emotionally based then the last two stages. Tennants doctor was more rescuer based (think emergency response) , Eccleston's was more caotic fun im running from my past type. Each regeneration connects to a deep desire or need of the Doctors .

Hi, i just saw and commented on your blink reaction. I hope this adds context as to why the angels didn't move when the characters weren't looking at them. Here's the paste:
So a thing I love about this episode about the angels in particular, the original concept is that the angels are beings of a dimensions outside our own, 4th 5th 6th whatever outside of 3rd, and so don't move when we, the viewers can see them. I remember seeing an interview about this episode back when it was made. This was changed however when angels appeared in later episodes and it always disappointed me
Just now realising how old this reaction video is, and I hope somebody else said the same thing, as I find it to be very interesting info

I think The Doctor is more affectionate with Amy because he still sees her as a little girl...it's one of the things I like most about their dynamic, because all the other adults in Amy's life treated her like she was crazy and somehow The Doctor is the adult she trusts the most....... the hugs and kisses on the forehead look so tender, I love them

The Doctor, depending on which iteration you have, changes. I do like the "there is one thing you never ever put in a trap" .... "me" -
The ship had "something" on it. River proved it was a "dormant" angel. Now the "broken ship" is leaking... we'll simply call it energy, and the Angels who were dormant and or starving to death on this planet can feed on that and recover. Maybe if the Doctor can get to the ship... he can stop them? Maybe? At the very least it is a way out of the trap.

      @theadamabrams Před 27 dny +5

True, TARDISes from other Time Lords also make the noise, and it's ridiculous to think they _all_ leave the brakes on, but this never bothered me because it's 100% in-character for River to just be messing with 11 when she says that.

One aside. The whole leaving "bakes on" comment is complete hogwash, done for laughs. Every TARDIS makes some version of that grinding sound when it dematerializes and rematerializes, from the Doctor's to the Rani's (classic series) to the Master's (classic series). There's no way that the Master pilots his TARDIS with the "brake" on.
