I’m set for 2024: Hemlock & Oak Minimalist for my monthly/weekly and the Hobonichi techo original English version for my daily.
My weekly planner always serves as sort of a decorative outlet/memory keeper and my daily serves as the day to day messy “keep your shit together” planner 😂
It is so easy to get influenced with so many systems, and finding the right system that works for you is the best feeling ever lol. I love you thought process, and your videos. Much love!

I can totally relate. I think most of us have all these same thoughts. In 2024 I will be using an EC softbound hourly, an EC daily duo in a filofax ring and also a hobonichi A6 for creative pursuits. I'm not very creative, but love to have a go. Thanks for this video. You are always a must watch for me!

Can relate to your 2024 planner thoughts! I got a simple horizontal weekly just to have something, but still debating what will serve me best.
I use my A6 notebook for swatches and honestly love it for that!
I had an unused A6 that i turned into a swatch book and LOVE IT! 10/10 recommend
If you add some slash pocket inserts, a ring planner can be great for holding receipts ( for taxes, reimbursements, and returns).
Use your stash! ❤ I’m using one planner for work/ personal appointments (I have a personal already) a notepad for lists (because I have them) and a carpe diem planner for memory keeping (because I have them already) 🎉 ❤ love the video!
I would probably be drawn to the caramel SI. The cover is gorgeous. The size seems like the perfect balance between the fairly large Cousin and the small weeks.

I struggled with this too! Ultimately ended up buying inserts and making it my own. I think they call that a Franken-planner. lol. Enjoying your videos and how real you are

I got kinda influenced into buying two sterling ink planners. I wanted to try travelers notebooks, so I compromised by buying the sterling ink TN size and passport size. But I’m having major regret feelings for not buying a hobo cousin. 🥲
Thank you for keeping me company as I battle with the 'vid! I'm so overwhelmed by all the choices. As much as I love the options and choices, I miss the days when the options were simpler. In 2024, I want to move towards simple and streamlined planning. Your approach is excellent!

Glad to know someone else journals about their planner crisis! 😂 I realized this year that I am a horizontal girl and dailies just don’t work for me. I also dislike the TRP so why why why did I buy a common planner?!
I love my fluro orange original I just hate the pockets. But now that I’m not in the office, maybe I can bring it out for personal use. Before I found chic sparrow, it was probably the priciest planner cover I ever bought and got it from Australia. It’s so smooth and smells like good leather 😊

I got a great deal for Black Friday from Archer and Olive! And I didn’t need a single thing I bought. But sub boxes, pens, Washi, more pens and more washi…I was in total heaven! I am doing Common Planner for 2024 and I want to keep a reading journal and a spiritual/study/prayer journal so I think I am doing dot journals for both of those. I also have a financial journal from Clever Fox, but 4 planners may be too much for me. 😂😂. But my ADHD will probably either love it all or be overwhelmed and say “peace out” with it all.
I've always eyed the hobonichis for years and this year got swept up in wanting to use them too ❤❤❤ 2024 is my more is more era for planners/notebooks, and I'm not ashamed 😂😂😂 loved your video and all your (possible) planners😊

I’ve been using hobos since 2014 or so. Cousin is my favorite and I love the a6 too.
I think all of us feel like it is overwhelming to pick out a planner. My cousin was working for me, but I didn't buy one. I bought an Amanda Rach Lee Doodle Planner, I like to color so I think it will be good during the winter anyway. I have a traveler's notebook with the vertical weekly for my health and on the go planner. I also caved in and got an A6 original, but I have no plans for it. Maybe I will do my budget in there. Oh yeah, I bought a Laurel Denise Mini for my kitchen. I am using it for my two sons to see any appointments they have and our meal plan. Shew that's alot. I have had so much fomo this year. Love the bullet journal for social media. It is simple yet very organized and neat.

My entire life is in a B5 dot grid notebook I got from Amazon. I loooooove it. I do wish I could find something with thicker pages but this was $10 so I’m happy 😂
Only thing I will have that’s “extra” is a tiny TN notebook as an appointment book/future log so I’m not carrying my B5 everyday when I need to leave the house.
I have many planners. Waav planner that I found at Target has beautiful scenes so its my self care planner; Erin Condren teacher planner (not a teacher but once I picked it up, I couldn't put it back lol); Blue Sky student planner for all my kiddos everything; A5 rings for allll the lists and I just ordered a Hobonichi day free lol. Also have 3 journals I'm using as well...
I feel your struggle and am right there with you--we just have way too many options! I've always said that the Cousin is the most perfect bound planner and I have no Cousin for 2024 for the first time in 7 years! Going with the all-in-one Wonderland 222 B6 instead and having second thoughts about skipping the Cousin! I also have the Maske Quarterly books, a Half Letter, Rings and a spiral! Worried about not bullet journaling. Lordy, I have to keep saying, yes it is a hobby. Tanya Dalton did a great talk about Maximizers versus Satisfiers. I think of myself as a Maximizer--never ruling anything out. Dalton said the Science shows that Satisfiers (one and done folks) are much happier. A medical relative tells me there is medication for my lack of planner peace...hahaha. May I ask why you gave up on Half Letter? Yours knee deep in planners...
For me planning for this year was also rough. Going into the year I was confident that I _have_ found my perfect layout, only for that to fall off by June 1st. 🤣 Now I’m going into 2024 with one and a half planners. In October I settled on a bullet journal-ish system, basically the bare bones when it comes to planning. Only to realize mid November that I can DIY a rough draft of the whole rings system. (Since I do wanna potentially move into rings in 2025)
So now I have my lil notebook with just monthlies basically _and_ adjusted rings system to try for the next 12 months. Here’s to hoping that the rings system works because it definitely (could) hold everything that I need, for the reason that I want to go back to my initial journaling routine (where one singular notebook could and would last me for years and I didn’t feel guilty if I didn’t use it).
I’m having trouble, deciding between A5 cousin, and hon theB6. I really like the cousin like you’ve been doing for the journaling. That’s what threw me to the cousin seem like he could have all your systems together. but I really like the size of the B6. I just afraid it’s gonna be too small. Plus I like the cover it’s the cats.😂
We are all influenced😅 My problem was I was watching too many people. Had to stop! sometimes we just have to keep it simple and use what works for us. Hobonichi Weeks works for me, it’s perfect. I got a little ambitious though and added a A6 Techo to my lineup. I love the rings but inserts give me the blues!😂I can’t cut to save my life!
Hi Julie. I saw a recent video where a woman was discussing B6 size planners. She was reviewing the Journey Planner. This planner includes the same layout as SI’s Common Planner. But this includes monthly trackers, monthly meal plans. What stood out was the daily section has full pages from Mon-Fri but Sat-Sun share a page and remembered you mentioned that you don’t normally fill out those days. Thought you might want to check it out if you haven’t heard of it.

A6 is the perfect size book for me to put swatches and recipes in. I use the sterling ink A6 notebook (260) for this.
I have simplified my system but it includes a lot of notebooks for different areas of my life and about 2-3 planners.

No Hobo Cousin???? Say it ain’t so!!! I’m interested in following your path to find what works. I love the Hobo Cousin so much. Is it perfect? No - I decorate the weekly pages as a creative outlet but then don’t use them for actual planning. I like the dailies for work - they’re perfect for my needs. And I’ve decided to use the monthlies for budgeting/spending tracking again. It worked well when I did that (I use YNAB but I find that writing down my spending helps to prevent too many IMPULSE PURCHASES, sigh). Good luck in finding what works for you!

I got the Wonderland 222 in the A5 size as a newer version of the Hobo Cousin. It had quarterly planning, habit tracking, weekly and daily pages. Then for on the go, I got a weeks mega. Really really trying not to love disc bound and falling back into ordering inserts and never making up my mind.
I took the Sterling Ink off my table, they are going to my sister and niece. I am also thinking of offloading two of my weeks, because I am a compartmentalized planner. However, I will decide once when home for the holidays. i have ordered TAN B6 and and A6 versions from a US reseller. I do have the One Piece collection just for collecting. Autistic so that is why. Not sure if I will write in them. Only reason I am considering rehoming planners, is that I will be in my 80s when the planners can be used again with the correct calendar dates without redating them.
Been using an agenda for my weekly and daily and monthly but wanted something streamlines and ideally one planner. Went with the Hobo Avec and I am super excited. I want Jan 1st to be here now so I can start planning in there. :D Sorry I can't find what you use for printing pictures. Can you please let me know where to look? I searched under planner and filming sections in your Amazon link.
Thank you for sharing! I noticed you only used your B6 SI until April (ish). Maybe you shared this before, but if you only used the SI for a small portion of the year, maybe there is something to it that made you choose the cousin for most of 2023. Alternative you can try to stick to the SI next year and put the hobonichis to the side. I know there is brand loyalty, but if you don’t fully commit to the SI for at least a few months, you’ll keep wondering about it and making it more difficult for you. Maybe you discover you prefer the common planner! Maybe you’ll realize you can never do anything that’s not hobonichi ever again! But you won’t know for sure until you try it. Best of luck!
That’s so true! I think I went back to the hobonichi because it’s was the book I started and I wanted to use it for the year and fill it up.

I accidentally ordered the vertical passport size Sterling ink instead of the horizontal…but I’m going to wait for it to arrive and really look at it to decide if it’s something I have to sell.
Can you use your weekly pages as your spending tracker for specific things in your budget that need weekly tracking like groceries, personal, gas and the blank pages as your checkbook register?
I’ve always struggled on the weekly view!

Sometimes I just post on my IG stories and they go pretty quickly! I also tend to keep a lot because as new planners launch, people love to see comparisons to other options!
I could have sworn Aura Estelle had a Tomoe River Paper planner, that had the same weeks-style layout for the weekly, PLUS extra pages in the back for daily, but in a bigger size like A5... they tend to have very short, fast selling launches, so I am not sure what they have now!

Aura Estelle makes a trp weeks size that has daily pages I think. It's split into 2 books though.
what pen do you use for headers when you journal? Tombow? I think I'm set up for my 2024 starting off with a B6 Nisa Fernando Designs B6 planner. I am still debating on what to use for my work planner...only because while I like having everything in one planner, I don't think I want my personal and journal pages in my work planner....the struggle is real isn't it?

I bought the B6 common planner that’s coming tomorrow! The A6 is just too small for my handwriting but I can’t fill the A5. I’m going to get an A6 notebook instead for a bedside diary so there’s less pressure to fill it if I can sell the planner!!

Just to add to the confusion, wilĺ you be using the MakseLife goal setting planner?
I’ve thought about it for work but trying to figure out how the goal setting pages would work for that.
My only thought without your cousin, switching to weeks…is that skinnier page large enough for your journaling space with your photos? The B6 feels like a compromise between the 2 journal sizes.
I keep thinking about that too! Good thing I still have a couple of weeks to figure out my life 🤣

I am very confused. I watched the videos where the Weeks seemed to be gold and now watching this I am wondering what to think. I have used the Weeks Mega before but in a very simple way. And the Techo. I think too much plotting and planning spoils the natural state of planning.
We all have our own way of figuring out what works for us. What might be too much for one person might be what works for another. Planning is so personal. There’s not wrong or right way. 😊

I am down the rabbit hole for 2024 with several different types of planners, but the one thing that connects them all is that I am surrounded by color! I love the joy in color. I have a new 5 yr Hobonichi A6 as well. I will decide in a few months when I see a pattern of use. ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜

I didn’t even know there was a rings bandwagon 😂 I never liked rings. Never liked the price point.
Looks like rings are making a comeback! I’ve seen some pretty nice set ups that aren’t too overwhelming!
For 2024, I have a TN size Common Planner and a 1180 Nolty and TN sized covers for both.
Something I find myself reaching for that doesnt exist in my system, is a hobby journal and a reading journal.
I play videogames games and watch reviews, suggestions, tips and tricks. I also mark release dates or 'Nintendo Directs' but hardly compile them or common place the sources. So I end up forgetting everything. Weeks or even months later, I find some obscure printout or scribble. 😐
Also, I read a TON of books. I don't push myself or anything, I consume a lot of books. Watching planning videos this year and seeing creators setting up reading journals made me curious. So I recently went back and counted around 43 books read near the middle of October... I've since read another 7 or 8 and my DNF list is nearly half of my Finished list. Never really occured to me to keep track of them. 🫤
