  • This week we finally got the access lift out area scenery started. A combination of Silflor, Model Scene, Heki, and Busch scenery items were used. We have a "how we did it" segment showing how the various materials were utilized and then a summary of all products used.
The basic ground forms and initial ground foam has been completed on the peninsula. No more ugly open areas and the amount of "pink" is rapidly fading.

Just amazing. This is great to watch. The details you've been putting into this layout boggles the mind.

Put the fencing on the cut line for the hatch. Looks awesome.

Very inspiring! "not a piece of clump foliage in here anywhere". I like your approach in NOT using clump foliage.

It sure would be cool to watch you do some scenery work, possibly that hill you just installed. Show everyone how you do what you do from start to finish. Not to make a long video but sections of video showing each process and the cut to the next step so as to give the previous step time to set and dry. What do you think? I have really enjoyed seeing the beginnings and then the end of some of those jobs. What about an entire video? Just a thought.

The farming fields turned out great. More amazing progress.

Wow that field works flawlessly with your backdrop. Feels so real, when you do the long shot it's impossible to see where the model ends and your backdrop starts, I feel like I can see to the horizon. You whole layout reminds me the country side around me here in Lancaster County PA.

Power companies allow agriculture to grow vegetation under power lines no higher then 20 ft. Most transmission lines have a belly in the line according to topography usually at 35 ft.

Hi Stephen ! I like how you mix all this vegetation ! For the shed, I think that the first option (or another shed with similar size to this one) is better as a smaller one is suggesting a bigger distance with a kind of forced perspective. In addition is is masking well the link with the backdrop and seems more to be belonging to the far disatnce. And buildings made in several small parts instead of only one big one are also helping for suggesting that the space is bigger than it is actually is. But of course all is up to you :) Cheers ! JF

A radio tower of some sort would look great on that hill. Just a thought.

the grain field looks great , you just need a old abandon tracker sitting on the edge of it , but does go good with the back drop , you did really good blending of all the turfs , a couple more smaller trees around the large one might help blend in the tree a bit , or just a few kids playing around the tree , ridding bikes , rail fanning ,, great update really ,

Love the detail work with all of the grass and fields. Suggestion for your corner with the cow pasture grass, instead of the tree, put an old water windmill in and put up a fence around that pasture grass. Then you could put in some cows?

Hello Robert, the layout is looking awesome!! Just my thoughts, but leave the rock were it is at, and go with the lighter colored building, it blends in better with the back drop. Again just my thoughts, but I like the construction idea in the corner. Great video thanks for sharing it, and your layout with us.

Additionally you could still have that tree for shade for the cows and place a small round water tank beside the water windmill with a pipe from the windmill to the tank and model some water in the tank?

I love the tree nursery idea! I was also thinking that a Vinyard would be a really cool thing to have in that area. Just like they have next to the tracks out in North East, PA. I've never seen a Vinyard done in HO scale before but I know if anyone can do it, it'll be you guys! Haha

the rock looks nice there it was found when the farmer was tilling the ground to plant the wheat and due to its size he just pushed it over there and left it.

Steve...First let me thank you for the videos you share.....they are an inspiration, and a learning experience. Now my question. I noticed the photo backdrop in the background of this video. It's exactly what I need for my layout. Can you give me any info on it? Thanx.

Great job on your scenery, but in corner area where it's that embankment area. In the idea of scenery, trees, bushes, wooded areas, ect I think that putting even more trees there would be too, too much. I think that you should put that industry there that you're thinking about. Other than Pittsfield you dont have much industry scenery. Please dont get me wrong the scenery is very nice, but I do think that you should balance it out.
Very, very nice job on all of the scenery that you have .

so how did you do the back drops , I ask because mine look to be the same as yours , I spray glued the wall ,, and they had a hell of a time keeping it straight ,, lol ,, but my problem now is it wants to coil back up , so the ends and top always come off the wall , I have to keep pushing it back down , ?

Need an nscle or z scale tractor in that back corner.

    • @paulmaillet6128
      @paulmaillet6128 Před 8 lety

I agree withe tractor in a n or z scale as well, also maybe a small scale fence along the backdrop working it's way towards the foreground in ho scale using the forced perspective modelling technique. I have watched all your videos and concur, your work is incredible and lead to some of your methods, keep up the great work and looking forward to all of your updates. Thanks for sharing you layout and progress.
