This is by far one of the most impressive straight forward videos I've seen to make a stomp-box! I learned more from yours with no words!! Really beautiful work! You have mad skills! Thanks for taking the time to show your craft! :)
Thank you very much. I am glad you found my video useful.
The only thing more impressive than the end result in this video, is the amount of patience you have...not only to make a stompbox with so much care....but to record and edit the process. Great job! 😊👍
thank you
The DIYer spirit with multiple skills (and tools). Nice project!
I don't play any instruments but I can keep time with a tune and I love making things out of wood I enjoyed making this thank you very much for the upload.
+Roy Stoddard I thank you! It is really inspiring for me when people find useful stuff in my videos!
This one is going straight on my todolist. And close to the top of it too. I want one of those! Thanks! Great idea!
Thanks for the nice comment! I'm glad you liked it!
I just got 12 pickups that look JUST LIKE YOURS from Amazon yesterday.
They're for a cajon drum I'm building. Only 3 pickups are going into my cajon, so that means I have extra piezos left.
Making your stomp box idea will use up another one!
Awesome to hear that. Good luck on your build. Happy new year
I've never seen someone who could be extremely ghetto with their woodworking, and yet still end up with a completely acceptable end result.
Good job
He woodworker woodworking tools and supplies that will help you put together an .. facebook.com/woodmasterplan
I’m more surprised by the soldering job
That is absolutely the value of this video.
Good job with the box and an EXCELLENT diy-video!!
Very inspirational. I was looking for commercial versions on youtube, how they'd sound but I ended up watching this and now I want to build it myself! :)
+efunkelist thank you very much! I am glad you found my video useful!
Loved this video. Thanks for sharing.
thanks
This was mostly about building a wooden box. The actual piezo element and connections were an afterthought. For anyone familiar with electronics, it is very simple indeed, but for those with little or no understanding, you might have shown a circuit diagram - even something scribbled on paper, along with an explanation. Also, you might have gone on to explain why the glue on the back of the piezo element (resonance damping..).
In the description of the video, there is a link to a related blog article with all the details of the project, including those you mention!
looks great, really nice. i also like your shoes, they look comfortable af
awesome in every way !!!! thank you !!!
Fantastic video.. really informative and filmed in great detail.. really cool.😎😎😎
thank you
Amazing job!!!
+Peter K. thank you, glad you liked it!
Cool stuff!
Thanks
Good job. I've seen something similar but this one is very good.
Thanks you for your nice comment and thanks for watching!
Now do one with the bits I and probably many others really want - the wiring, what the electronic bits actually are, the inside layout of the box...
Nice work φίλτατε... ☺
Hello, congratulations very cool. But could you specify the order of the wires better? I didn't quite understand because the camera hides the image a lot. thanks.
Brilliant execution! One small but important enhancement - fill the empty space of the box up with old socks or other rags. This dampens the sound further and cuts out any stray high frequencies. Better bass drum tones that way. Cheers!
That's a really cool idea, it needs to get a little more bassy
My pleasure. I design guitars, basses and ukes and have been binge watching your videos this afternoon!
old socks or old underpants!!!
Cool music man!!!
YOU'VE GOT JUST THE SOUND WE WANT - IS IT IMPORTANT TO GET A LARGE PIEZO DISC AND SEAL THIS SIDE - YOU GOT GREAT VOLUME TOO -WELL DONE
Thank you. I think the large piezo works better in this situation. The sealing is a must because otherwise you can get feedback from the amp!
Awesome!
Thank you!
beautiful
nice tutorial! You could probably have made the box slope at an angle so it's easier to stand and stomp. Have a more natural back-to-front/up down foot movement.
I guess you are right! I'll have to improve the design when I make a new one!
AWESOME !!!!!! love that!! drop in and say HI :-)
Thank you
It is to make beat. Good design !
Thank you
when you drilled that first hole in the bottom I blew the sawdust away! LOL
Cool video! One question: what's the reason for putting hot glue all over the piezo exposed surface ? Won't that lessen its flexibility? Thankx!
So the wires won't detach
Pretty cool. Can you slap the box for different sounds?
The piezo pickup is like a small microphone. As a result the box is pretty responsive to different kinds of touching, scrabimg, punching etc
Hola amigo! what pedal used on the guitar play? beautiful song!! thanks you! grazie!!!
F#ck yeah dude, this guy knows what’s up 😎 legend.. saved me a pretty penny.
Gracias
thank you for watching my friend
what type of wood would you recommend? Sides? top and Bottom?
Nice video. I was wondering about the hot glue also. You said putting it on top of the piezo also cuts feedback? Does it also change the sound that it produces? Also have you tried using a larger amount to glue it to the box, I was wondering if that changes anything. I just made one using a speaker and it works well now I am going to do the piezo.
I guess the vibrations of the piezo must change somehow with the glue on, but I don't think that's a problem. I haven't tried to add more glue, so i don't know the results. Please note that the sound you'll get is also in close relation to the amp you will use. Good luck with your build, thanks for watching and commenting!
I saw someone who used double sided tape to attach his piezo that is c ool idea it might pick up mor sound.
Thanks for it ! please tell me what size of piezo give more bass sound ? I have saw 3 different size and I believe maybe bigger sound more bassy, am I right ?
I guess a general rule in instrument making is "the bigger the bassier".
Scrap wood City Yeah, maybe it is about the size of the wood box! I built mine today from a cigar box, it's cool
Great joinery, although a coping saw would help to remove the xess wood on your dovetails. This would help clean them up a bit. I also recomend cbecking out paul sellers and his videos on joinery
I am not the best one on dovetail cutting (obsioulsy). I just did it for fun. Paul Sellers is one of my favorite woodworkers on you tube. Thanks for the comment and for watching. I hope in future my skills will become a little bit better!
Question: what happens if you put two piezo's inside the box ?? Would that give you more resonance ?? Or no difference ??
I guess there will be a difference, but I have not tried it out
Very beautiful video! The piezo pickup you used seems perfect and easy for the scope! Is it expensive? Where can I find it? Thanks!
thanks. The Piezos are really cheap you can easily buy them on line or in your local electronics store!
I know I'm a bit late but if you go to the store and buy one of those singing birthday cards, you can tear it apart and there's a piezo inside.
Oy loiks to be tap dancin on bits o wood whoylst oym playin me gitah matey, thas rouight!
than you
Nice dovetails.
What are the dimensions that you used?
Badass things you can build out of wood. You dont need to go to stores and spend $100 of dollars to buy things, that you can build it yourself at your house.
Sometimes buying something is easier and better from a practical point of view. But almost anytime you make something yourself, the feeling is just super awesome and can never be baught with money!
Scrap wood City You are so right, dont look to some negative comments here...you did a very good job!
Woow, way too much carpentry goin on for my woodworking abilities. Id just buy a box of cigars, smoke the shit out of them, then skip to step 2
CHARrrrrrrrr lol! Thanks for watching and commenting!
yogavideosmike I guess everybody makes his own version of it! The basic idea is what matters in my point of view!
lol
just use butt/lap joints , and if you cant drill a hole.......... well, im not even going into that. lol
liked / Subbed, Thanks
I thank you!
ωραιος!
+vertical ευχαριστώ
Fast cutting had me rolling... Im not even stoned
Hello, what is the tool being used at 1.05?
Thanks
+Timothy Daly it is a cheap flat chisel usually used to carve linoleum! It is not perfect for what I used in the video, but it did the job!
+Scrap wood City thanks!
what was the wood burner you were using?
+Floyd Cox it is a no name cheap one!
sorry i started your tutorial at 7:07 and i thought you were making an IED
D Loui
Haha
Can you tell me all the tools you used in this video
+Shayne Kant Ιn the description of the video there is an a link for an article related to this video in my blog! All things are there. Thanks for watching and commenting!
cool
Great effort, I haven't even attempted my projects. I keep researching before I begin. Please, no offense by my review I'm here to help all of us. K, think of an actual drum next time, try placing the pizio in different spots, elevate the front so some air comes in there so the bottom panel can actually move. I bet if you did all that and tried different things than hot glue, that's killing your low right there. Oh, just like a guitar adding good pots and 2 at least 1 volume 2 tone the same box would sound like a kick drum. I guaranty it.
Check out Bigfoot stomp boxes in Australia. They are huge in Nashville, and I swear, the whole night I though she had the world's smallest kick drum. Actually she did use a kick pedal then hit the box.
Bottom line Thank you, hope to see one the knocks your heart off kilt. That's my goal.
Thanks again.

No trolling intended, but those solder joints weren't done properly. Take your time, let the iron heat up the part and then add solder. wait just a tiny bit to see it drawing/flowing towards heat, don't just leave fresh solder in a blob.
No problem, thanks for the tips! This video is old though. I have better soldering skills now. But still practice makes perfection!
If you heat up those audio pots too much it ruins them. You pretty much have to drip it on.
Never seen dovetail joints done that way before
Why you cover the piezo with hot glue?
Hi!
Why you put glue on the pick-up? (at 6:55)
+cade Neve hello! I used glue to reduce feedback. When the stomp box is close to an amp it can produce really annoying feedback sounds. This way you reduce the noise a lot! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Scrap wood City thanks for answer and thank you for this video :)
Wait... What was all that clear glue stuff you poured all over the pickup and why?
To reduce feedback
@@ScrapwoodCity what kind of glue was it for front and back thanks
Wow you move so fast
για μαγνήτη τι μπορούμε να χρησιμοποιήσουμε;;;
hi.piezo disks located inside what?where is it? where can l find it?
eBay is the best bet. Picked up 12 for 2 bucks.
a singing greeting card or a cheap set of headphones..
Cool 😂
Thank you
Haha... Good box.
is this a beginners guide to basic joinery..?? surely you could have edited some of this out.
7:18 lefty loosey, righty tighty!
i'd like to watch you cook
lol
Great video, thanks. I’ll be honest, there’s no way I can be bothered with dovetails for something like this, but otherwise…!
It was a nice excuse for dovetail practice
You read my mind.. ya too much work.. jus buy a cool box already .. lol
THAT bloody nail xD
Yall complain about the background music but to me it just sounds like funkytown
I love how straight forward this is. Could do without the music though.
hello piezo, how are you?
"i'm piezing"
keep playing the same tune forever!
thumbs up for not playing the pentatonic :)
lol, thanks
could
Chafachuset
Good job bro but
can you sweep with it??
hahah, see what I did there?..
I'm funny...
The choice for the SAME music in every video is baffling. Just...add some variety, please...
then don't watch his videos, Look at what you're critiquing ,, Seriously ? that's just childish .
This music hurts my soul
8 min 30 sec of same riff to make 20 sec of product.
please stop using the same music for every video
Neil Harchanko better than the sound of speed up sawing.
I enjoy your videos, but have one big gripe.
If you’re gonna speed up your video, mute the damn sound.
It’s like nails on a chalkboard!
Noooooo. I love the sped up noises of carpentry!
Nice work φίλτατε... ☺
cool
Al Alvera thank you!
