And think of you
Caught up in circles confusion
Is nothing new
Flashback warm nights
Almost left behind
Suitcases of memories,
Time after
Sometimes you picture me--
I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear
What you've said--
Then you say--go slow--
I fall behind--
The second hand unwinds
If you're lost you can look--and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you--I'll be waiting
Time after time
After my picture fades and darkness has
Turned to gray
Secrets stolen from deep inside
The drum beats out of time
You said go slow
I fall behind
The second hand unwinds
Time after time...
Time after time...
Time after time...
Time after time... - Hudba
This is a stunning version of an absolute classic. Thank you Cyndi
This was a tune for those who have lost their time, imagining that their lost loves still care for them. They are waiting, for emptiness.
She is so gorgeous. Good to see her not hiding it. Her talent is so natural...an extension of her soul.
Cyndi is not a flashy dulcimer player BUT she does display its charming simplicity Hazzah. Nice song.
The original video version made me cry... this one makes me bawl. The beauty and feeling of Cyndi's voice is, well, timeless. Bless you Cyndi.
you know when you hear a song over and over, even in different live forms, and you just can't stand it, yet it gets stuck in your head? Yeah, those words were never uttered about this masterpiece since it graced our world in 1983. I was 15 when it came out, and time and all its promises were ahead of me. I'm 52 now, a father of three, divorced, living alone in the lovely 2020, but I'm happy with who I am, so I'm in a good place...and thought I've got a suitcase of memories, time and all its promises still seem to be ahead of me...time after time...
This just appeared in my newsfeed even though it's years old. I'm about your age now. This song has always been one of my favorites since I was a teen, a masterpiece indeed. I never get tired of it. I wish the world had more people like you with a positive attitude and no matter the hardships we endure. Your children are very lucky,
I was 13 when this came out. Never married or kids. Living lonely in 2020 lol lol. Still waiting to run into the one that got away lolol. Love this song, suit case is full with memories. I think her part in the song We are the world totally made the song, I rewind her part over and over.. she is a great artist.
Me too brother. Shining light
Cyndi Lauper is one of the most original artist that exists. She is so unique!
She is, but this slow version of this song SUCKS
@@joeshipley666 Play nice Joe.
@@joeshipley666 you suck yo.
I wish people would stop comparing her to Madonna. I honestly don't even get the comparison. Cyndi is Cyndi, and she is one of a kind.
Talk about a transcendent, matured and enduring talent! She's so far beyond that rather "punky" 1980s girl she used to be---and a good example of how trying to "stay young" can be a trap that kills growth. Cyndi rocks!
Screaming Mimi's true, her record sales nose-dived.. IMO, the paradox here is that her talent also became more apparent when she took off the costumes. Bad call by the record executives? Yeah, probably, change came too soon perhaps but she IMO would have been deep into (unwanted) self parody if she was still dressing "Punky" at 40 years old...?
Great point you make here, though!
"..Cyndi Rocks.."
...yesss, she sure does 😘😍👑✌
Screaming Mimi's
You really put a lot of power behind 'record sales' ... holy f*** , the Chipmonks sold a lot of records-are they cool & quality & and great artists? I don't think record sales is a barometer of talent-certainly NOT here in America!
@@tonyjones1560 she still wears purple mohawks tho..
growth and maintaining a youthful energy are not mutually exclusive.
is there a more beautiful sound in music than a dulcimer?.......centuries old in design and still so moving to hear
You know she has sung this millions of times over the years, yet there is still so much emotion - amazing
She said that when she wrote this song with her producer, they had both just gotten out of relationships…
❤I love it
❤
Cyndi is an 80's girl and boy she looks beautiful as well her voice.. I miss the 80's so much, a time when the people who meant so much to me were with me..Rest In Heaven. Mom, Dad,Nan & Chris!! .. Thanks for sharing this ...
omg...that just made me 17 again and broke my heart all over again !...
Beautiful song... ( and so was Maria in 1984).............................
how appropriate music can be through out the years and stand the test of time
Agreed.
kernowrock555 &
oli buck.
Sad.
I think this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
She's written a few absolute winners hasn't she! "True Colors" is also one of my favourites.
Yes
I agree
@Donald Bailey Sorry to hear if you are hurting. If you want a good cry, try listening to Willie Nelson - You Remain
"What do I do with a memory
That just hangs around and stares at me?"
Hang in there. Don't do anything stupid or crazy.
but horrible version
She has the prettiest eyes and face and no one can replace her gentle voice. There is humbleness in her voice that cant be imitated. Classic.
You hit the nail right on the head shes so beautiful and talented
After the 80s of his eccentric side, here is his perfectly natural side.
I prefer that way 👌😘👌
Simple is beautiful. Cyndi at her best! Awesome looks. Who agrees?
Such beautiful comments from beautiful people, thanks for loving cyndi lauper
bernardo fontanilla (banj fontanilla) Yvw & thanks from me too. Like what's not to like ? She was & is still forever humble, genuine, talented, etc, etc.
bernardo fontanilla (banj fontanilla) she is one of the best
I met Cyndi and her husband, David, back in the mid 90's when I worked at a radio station in Alamogordo, NM. Both were very nice and down to earth people. She even laughed at a I joke told that wasn't very funny. I love her forever for that alone.
Nothing better than Cindy Lauper doing an old Cindy Lauper tune.
Her voice still holds up unlike 99% of artists with the similar range. I guess it's just genetics obviously cause I know she hasn't stopped singing in 30 plus years. She plays the mountain dulcimer and it makes me want to buy one. Sounds great. My fav song!
Genetics plays a part, but the key factor is singing with a healthy technique and staying away from cigarettes etc.
I own several mountain dulcimers, and they're fun to play and easier to learn than a guitar. If you like them, I encourage you to pick one up! I highly recommend McSpadden dulcimers, which I play and I believe Cyndi plays. Grab one with the L.R. Baggs electro-acoustic pickup. :)
I have two of them and one was made by my great-grandfather, the other was made by Edd Presnel
With maturity, she sings this with even more Heart...:)
No, she sang what sold at that time. She was a brilliant writer, and this proves she can expand and change. People who liked her music back then like to hear the same tunes done differently. And yeah, she's singing and performing with a lot more feeling (heart) in this performance. If you can't hear that, well.....you're not a musician.
What she said!!! Peace & Love!
Just breathtaking words takes me back to the ones who are no longer here 😢💔♥️
Algum(a) brasileiro(a) curtindo essa bela canção?

Graced with age. Like a razor blade. Sharp and sweet. Just beautiful. Beyond belief!
Love this.

This is Cyndi's most gorgeous look! Like they say about fine wine..............
That it comes from the Gironde River valley in France?
She's beautiful.
Absolutely gorgeous!!!!
Madonna is great and unique....Cindy is fantastic and talented. This is a gem and priceless voice.
Wow, she still looks great! I think she looks better now than when she was younger!
Thanks Cindy we 80's babies love you!!!! :) :) :)
Matt, this was nice comment,,,
Everybody loves her i was born in 2000 a d she is great
This lady has something unique and that is why there will never be anyone like her it is something that only comes around one in a billion
I don't know who wrote the song but even Cyndi's original rough commercial release gave me chills, if you have never seen her live do yourself a favour and go see her, she really is one of the true original greats !! There are so many great songs but so few singers who can REALLY give you the shivers and bring the song to life.Sadly in our current wasteland of bland autotune computer,over-produced elevator music perfection Cyndi can still grabs you by the nuts.
Cyndi wrote the song, with a co-writer.
Actually the guy from a band called *The Hooters* wrote it, although they're both officially credited.
No fake music here! Real talent!
Absolutely brilliant. Look how she has the crowd in a trance. Such great talent..
I love you Cindy. Your voice is magic.
Still beautiful after all these years... Did we know in the 80's that we were living in some of the greatest music ever?!... This takes me back...
Be well, do well & God bless y'all.
This is an awesome version of what has ALWAYS been my favorite Cyndi Lauper jam. Peace & Love!
She's still herself, and this is beautiful.
She is beautiful.
Algum(a) brasileiro(a) curtindo essa bela canção?
I love Cyndi Lauper. She's so beautiful inside and out.
As a native of Appalachia, it is such a joy to see a great lady like Cyndi Lauper put this magnificent song to the dulcimer. Thank you. Choked up... :)
So glad to be a child of the 80s when this great music was BRAND NEW!!! Still remember buying her album "She's So Unusual" and how colorful the album cover and the singer both were. I had the pleasure of seeing this talented lady TWICE in my life. First when she opened for CHER at the Superdome in New Orleans in June of 1999. I was on vacation celebrating my birthday and it just so happens that I share a birthday with Cyndi and they brought out a big birthday cake on stage and we all sang Happy Birthday to her. Then ten years later in June of 2009 when I was living in San Francisco Cyndi was in the annual Gay Pride Parade on Market Street.
She has always been a great friend and big supporter of the gay community and it was great seeing her again riding on a big float down Market Street in S.F. If any of you are ever interested in seeing a really great parade the Pride parade in S.F. is one of the longest (like FOUR hours!!) and very entertaining and held in late June every year during Pride week.
That sounds awesome! I share a birthday with Björk.
ya so proud to have grown in the 80 s
Born in 1970 perfect 80s child. Thankyou god.
I was crying allll the way .this song
Powerful song that means so much to so many people. Cyndi Lauper is a beautiful person. Love her for this!
I honestly didn't think this song could ever get more emotional, I was wrong. This rendition bright a tear to my eye with how beautiful it is. I knew Cyndi was talented but just...wow.
gold old days.. continue playing this.. let your kids hear this..
Beautiful Cyndi.Amazing heart, intellect and artist.
Love you. thank you. I can almost see the old times again, Even better now. Riding with the t-tops down....my town wasnt dead then...that little spark of life in such a small place....now its almost gone.....but at least i have the memories...
Joxxer36 Wow. Beautiful imagery. You should finish out the sentiments into a song.
Every time I hear this song it reminds me of a loved one I lost, thank you cyndi for such a beautiful song.
this song is just one of the most beautiful ballads ever
It's a great song but it's not a ballad.
@@fRo0tLo0p This version is....the original is pop but this version is definitely a pop ballad
@@curtisstroud3 No. A ballad is a song that tells a story. Coward of the County, 18 and Life, Don't take the Girl, Wildfire are examples of ballads.
Just because the song is slow doesn't make it a ballad.
@@fRo0tLo0p As a music student of Perth UHI studying my degree. I am well aware of what is and isnt a ballad and this version fits the criteria. Ballads are about emotional impact and this version creates a stunning example of what can be turned into a pop ballad just by simply stripping it back to the raw core of the song. All songs tell a "story" to a certain degree and the underlying story of this song is a lot more apparent in this rendition than the original because it isn't masked by a catchy pop instrumental. It is also 32nd song down the list if you Google the definition of ballad 😂
@@curtisstroud3 bal·lad
/ˈbaləd/
noun
a poem or song narrating a story in short stanzas.
You are incredible cyndi. beautiful voice and beautiful job. And better than ever.
She looks wonderful !!!!
The Mountain Dulcimer, such a simple but elegant instrument! She puts it so well to this song.
Love seeing Cyndi still around with us ...best Cyndi Lauper song ever!!
So much depth to this version compared to when we were so young. Wisdom gained over the years...love this!
I fell in love with her the first time i seen her back in early 80s when i was in high school...
And i still feel the same.
Her voice is priceless and her looks are time stopping.
I can’t tell how many times I have heard this song in my life either a cover or original it still blows me away ,it’s timeless excuse the pun , it just beautiful and haunting , cyndi is an icon , beautiful performance here as always ,
She's always been beautiful from the beginning and the beauty of Cyndi will travel to no ending of the Universe.
The rendition of this song gets into your bones. Magical!
She's still herself, and this is beautiful.
She is beautiful.
She has always sung about the ilk of love and live. Just had to listen and then learn. Steel City woman of the greatest measure.
Cyndi Lauper is an eternal idol.
We love Cyndi Lauper .
No singer has healed my heart as much as Cyndi Lauper .
I still vividly remember the overly beautiful Cyndi Lauper I saw at the Budokan in September 1986.
i love cyndi lauper,
Listened to her while I was a kid and still enjoy her as an adult. Great and fun music.
Fantastic
A total class act right here, and very talented. Keep singing, Cyndi!
holy bejesus, what a tender, and beautiful arrangement.

One of the enduring pop masterpieces of the 80s, beautifully sung & played here by its creator, the still-wonderful Cyndi Lauper. It says something that this was one of a small number of tunes that persuaded Miles Davis to return to his gorgeous ballad playing after many years of deliberately avoiding it.
Cyndi Lauper still Looks Really !! Beautiful she Looks the same
,when she was young.
Wow! She looks and sounds fuckin awesome... STILL!
so delicate version of this awesome and (may be) one of her best's tracks ever ever!
omg! so beautiful... don't matter the time, don't matter the age, she is always beautiful.
80's music makes me feel so good. I was born in 87, so not sure if that has anything to do with it lol. I love Cyndi Lauper though. I'd say I like 90's music just a tiny bit more though. 90's were an incredible time for music.
So beautiful both the song and Cyndi.
💕🕊🕊🕊😇
musically and visually beautiful xxx
Rob Thomas' cover of this is simply amazing but it barely holds a candle to Cyndi's! I remember when she fist came out on MTV back in the 80's. I was like 8 or so and loved every song she did. And to this day I think she has created a few timeless songs and this is one!
Simply beautiful ❤️
Nossa depois de mais de trinta anos continua linda em todas as formas amei
