Pink Floyd having a "heavy rock sound". Excuse me but... what? They created some of the most melodic and slow paced pieces of music in Rock History. Their sound is not heavy.
@@jacksilmblog No that is the very moment they stopped being a great (heavy) Rock Band. 4 good songs on a double LP?? Pink Floyd were at their hardest on 'Animals' and 'Meddle' which along with their first two and Syd's 2 solo LPs, 'D.S.O.T.M'. and 'W.Y.W.H'. are my favorite PF. 'The Wall' was the moment I stopped listening. Radio over kill of the few good tunes means I NEVER listen to 'The Wall' in the same way that as a Zeppelin fan I cannot listen to the weak 'In through the Out Door' LP. It is also true of the Beatles' 'Abbey Road' and 'Let it be'. In each case once great bands get bloated, members unhappy and wanting to leave and as a result the now flabby music suffers even if better than music by lesser talents
Genres were created by the music industry as a way to sell albums -- and to enable radio stations to offer fairly targeted audiences in the days before online streaming. The best bands are unclassifiable. Pink Floyd certainly fits that description.
Live in Pompeii was way better. Love seeing the behind the scenes with Dark Side and it has one of the best versions of Careful with that Axe Eugene ever and One of These Days is awesome. Pulse and Wembley doesn't have Roger Waters
Abonanno24601 Wembley is a Queen concert -_-, and im not agree with you, i think PULSE is much better concert... SIMPLY THE BEST FUCKING THING THAT HAPPENED TO FUCKING HUMANITY!!!
Yunus Qurbanlı Pulse is a great concert and has one of the best versions of Comfortably Numb EVER, and Dark Side of the Moon was Great, but the only thing Pulse was missing is Waters. I've watched Pulse more times than I can count, I just think Live at Pompeii shows the whole band in a candid light. I do agree though, Pulse is a GREAT concert. I got to see Roger Waters to The Wall twice and let me tell ya, I think that was simply the best concert I have ever seen..
No. I'm a Zep fan. It doesn't even belong on list, because it is, in fact, a horribly self indulgent shit show. The only good thing about it is the music.
no, actually Woodstock should be at the first stop most because Jimi Hendrix played at this concert. The song remains the same could be at the second spot.
So, that ends this WatchMojo Weekend Marathon: - 4 clips on Friday (including What's Your Mojo? - Ep. 1: Anime, Queens, Princesses, Tupac) - 3 on Saturday, and - 3 today on Sunday. Thanks to all of your suggestions on WatchMojo.com/suggest we decided to go to 3 clips on some days, note it wasn't that long ago that we were doing 1 per day with the occasional deuce... we may up it to 3 on all days sooner or later ;)
Monterey Pop deserves more than an honorable mention. It was one of the most iconic concert films in history. It's the concert where the who and hendrix were introduced to America. Also, it was the concert where Hendrix lit his guitar on fire after playing arguably his best show.
Maybe it's becuase I'm a child of the Cold War, but Roger Waters performing The Wall live in Berlin is my all time favorite. Freddie at Live Aid is #2.
WatchMojo.com what about top10 album titles my Number 1 would be 50 cent _Get rich or die trying ,Bat out of hell by Meatloaf,Slippery when wet by Bon Jovi,Open up and say ah by PoisonAppetite for destruction by GnR,Back in Black by acdc,Are you experienced Jimi Hendrix,A Hard days night the Beatles
Just to clarify: The Band was way more than just "Bob Dylan's touring band." They were way more influential than the credit they're given, despite having the no. 1 concert doc.
WOW you guys really dropped the ball on this one... you found room to put the Stones on the list as well as an honorable mention and you completely forgot The Beatles Abbey Road rooftop concert.. good job!
I knew the last waltz would be first. Such a great band performing with fellow great musicians. Truly a great concert, just wish I was alive to see it live.
I've got the cd, classic when Jim goes - & now, one of the greatest performas, great blues musician, outstanding voice, I present to you, what's your name again
I got the Blu ray of them live at the Bowl, it was an amazing performance. Jim was classic that night. What I would give to have seen that show live, or even been around in the late 60's haha.
GhostCruiser23 Live in Pompei is a bit more artsy and iconic than Pulse. It's much more unique. Not to say Pulse isn't good - it's a great show, but credit where credit is due - Pompei wins every time.
AC/DC "Let There Be Rock" is iconic because it showcased what an energetic and hypnotizing performer Bon Scott was, particularly since he died soon after production had ended.
#1 The Song Remains the Same, Woodstock, Stop Making Sense, The Last Waltz, The Doors Live From the Bowl, Pulse/ The Wall( 1990), Spiders From Mars, Monterey Pop, Live Aid...
You should do some stuff with more recent bands too. Like separate them by like ten years or something. Because it seems like you always focus on older bands.
Great concerts films have the elements of amazing musical performance - and capturing a true moment in history, which makes them iconic. I would like to add 1) U2 - Under a Blood Red Sky Live from Red Rocks and 2) The Cure Live in Orange France
I was glad to see "The Concert for Bangladesh," but was surprised that no mention of "Rock Show" starring Paul McCartney and Wings was ever made. Plus, what about U2's "Rattle and Hum"? It deserved, at least, an honorable mention.
9999Annabel Awesome! I wish I could have too, but I have the Blu Ray version. I think that Plug In Baby performance alone merits a spot on this chart XD
All fine choices. But I think a glaring absence is "U2 Go Home: Live at Slane Castle." Filmed days after Bono's father passed away, the band were simply phenomenal as they played for their hometown fans. In particular, the segue from "All I Want is You" to "Where the Streets Have No Name" is transcendent, a moment that gives me chills no matter how many times I watch. (Glad to see Talking Heads getting their due, also.)
Hold on, did they say no rockumentaries? I looked up a list of rockumentaries and some of the choices are considered rockumentaries (Gimme Shelter, Woodstock, Live at Pompeii, etc.). Therefore, WatchMojo just contradicted their own statement. Plus, I personally would've included Roger Waters' The Wall-Live in Berlin 1990. That was more about the concert than Gimme Shelter.
I totally agree with you. That concert was awesome, especially next to some of the other ones on this list. (I've noticed that they don't mention Green Day much on their lists)

My top 5 list by FAR #1: Stop Making Sense Rust Never Sleeps Woodstock Song Remains the Same Let There Be Rock I would have included in the HMs This Is Spinal Tap, yes its a mockumentary, but some of those performances are just epic. PS: thanks for including Live at Pompeii
honestly i was never going to watch another watchmojo video if the last waltz wasn't on this list. im glad its #1 - i was initially confused and thought it was only an honorable mention.
I may be bias, but i think Bullet In A Bible should be somewhere, at least in the Honourable mentions, since there was two mentions of the Rolling Stones which isnt exactly fair :/
Dead Can Dance : Toward the Within.....this registration is straight up music without any gimmicks and breaths the same magical essence you feel when you are there. ( I should know...I attended several of their concerts).
Alright WatchMojo I give you credit for all of these other facts that you have, but if you are going to mention the Dave Chappelle Block Party movie you've got to mention that it had a Fugees reunion not just Lauryn Hill.
I was shocked that Woodstock was 2, but then the Last Waltz came in at 1, good choice. Festival Express should definitely be on this list and The Wall concert in Berlin was great with superb performances by so many
+Alan Corbould I would have said The Wall concert in Berlin, but it came out after this video. What I'm mad at is they included Pompeii (Which surely should be here) but not Pulse?
The Wall live at Berlin? Nobody? 50meters Wall in the middle of Berlin with a stage in the middle? Flying Stageparts with guitarrist playing solos? Really? Nobody?
Muse - HAARP live at Wembley (2007), Led Zeppelin - Celebration Day live at O2 (2007), Rage Against The Machine - Live at Finsbur y Park (2010) should've been on the list
The Last Waltz is the greatest concert film ever made. The Grateful Dead Movie and Roy Orbison Black and White Night should all be in the top ten...Monterey Pop belongs there too!
Pink Floyd having a "heavy rock sound". Excuse me but... what?
They created some of the most melodic and slow paced pieces of music in Rock History. Their sound is not heavy.
This............
Yeah but some of their stuff is pretty heavy. Especially when it gets to 'The Wall' era.

Queen "Live at Wembley 1986" & Pink Floyd "Pulse 1994" u_u
Live in Pompeii was way better. Love seeing the behind the scenes with Dark Side and it has one of the best versions of Careful with that Axe Eugene ever and One of These Days is awesome. Pulse and Wembley doesn't have Roger Waters

The Song Remains the Same should be number one...
Sum0fNothing The Last Waltz is there for a reason, you should watch it. :)
No. I'm a Zep fan. It doesn't even belong on list, because it is, in fact, a horribly self indulgent shit show. The only good thing about it is the music.
I agree. This was a highly enjoyable 2 hour long guitar lesson for anyone who loves the instrument.
no, actually Woodstock should be at the first stop most because Jimi Hendrix played at this concert. The song remains the same could be at the second spot.
Zeppelin is so great. SO GREAT.
So, that ends this WatchMojo Weekend Marathon:

Monterey Pop deserves more than an honorable mention. It was one of the most iconic concert films in history. It's the concert where the who and hendrix were introduced to America. Also, it was the concert where Hendrix lit his guitar on fire after playing arguably his best show.
Monterey Pop should honestly be tied with Woodstock. Both are so similarly groundbreaking and legendary. You can't have one without the other.
Maybe it's becuase I'm a child of the Cold War, but Roger Waters performing The Wall live in Berlin is my all time favorite. Freddie at Live Aid is #2.
Here's Queen at Live Aid:
Top 10 Greatest Live Musical Performances

WatchMojo.com i think that you should give MUCH more attention to Pink Floyd
Prince "Sign O' The Times" and Queen's "live at Wembley 1986" are also very notable
This was a good list, but I have to say that Led Zeppelin: Celebration Day should have been number 1. Watching that was like a spiritual experience.
How the hell is David Bowie and the spiders from mars motion picture not even on this list?
oh yeah, thats a really good point
I agree. I was sad to read Leonard Maltin’s very bad review of it tho. But I think he really didn’t get the “essence” of the film
Just to clarify: The Band was way more than just "Bob Dylan's touring band." They were way more influential than the credit they're given, despite having the no. 1 concert doc.
Many props for giving the The Last Waltz the top spot. I was worried you guys might overlook it.
Monterey Pops, the super concert that started it all, only gets honorable mention? No Live Aid? Fail.
That footage of AC/DC is from the Let There Be Rock video clip, not the concert.
I think Bullet In The Bible should've made the list.
I agree
Bullet In A Bible is brilliant
Strange that there is no mention about The Apple Rooftop Concert by The Beatles. Talk about iconic.
WOW you guys really dropped the ball on this one... you found room to put the Stones on the list as well as an honorable mention and you completely forgot The Beatles Abbey Road rooftop concert.. good job!
my bad.. it was Apple not Abbey Road
actually it was abbey road studios, but that was only a very small portion of the film
I knew the last waltz would be first. Such a great band performing with fellow great musicians. Truly a great concert, just wish I was alive to see it live.
Pink Floyd Pulse and The Doors live from the Bowl (1968)
I've got the cd, classic when Jim goes - & now, one of the greatest performas, great blues musician, outstanding voice, I present to you, what's your name again
I got the Blu ray of them live at the Bowl, it was an amazing performance. Jim was classic that night. What I would give to have seen that show live, or even been around in the late 60's haha.
GhostCruiser23 It woulda been good to be alive in the 60s
GhostCruiser23 Live in Pompei is a bit more artsy and iconic than Pulse. It's much more unique. Not to say Pulse isn't good - it's a great show, but credit where credit is due - Pompei wins every time.
Macconator2010
Live at Pompeii is my favourite one ever good job putting it on there! But I agree with the last waltz being the best one!
The Song Remains The Same is the best concert film in my opinion so unique and creative
I mostly agree with the list, but I would have put the Woodstock movie in the first position....
I was so scared the Last Waltz wasn't going to be on the list, I definitely agree it's the best concert film
AC/DC "Let There Be Rock" is iconic because it showcased what an energetic and hypnotizing performer Bon Scott was, particularly since he died soon after production had ended.
Led Zeppelin Celebration Day should be there too. That was a one in a life time experience .
I was honestly SOOO happy that The Last Waltz was first! It deserves it though! Great movie, great Band, great music... AMAZING! 💕
Live at Pompeii!
#1 The Song Remains the Same, Woodstock, Stop Making Sense, The Last Waltz, The Doors Live From the Bowl, Pulse/ The Wall( 1990), Spiders From Mars, Monterey Pop, Live Aid...

I was glad to see "The Concert for Bangladesh," but was surprised that no mention of "Rock Show" starring Paul McCartney and Wings was ever made. Plus, what about U2's "Rattle and Hum"? It deserved, at least, an honorable mention.
Where the hell is Muse - H.A.A.R.P Live from Wembley Stadium??
They belong on this list for sure!
Not to mention Live at the Olympic Stadium (which only came out a couple of months ago I believe AND was the first one filmed in 4K :/ )
ZombieDeadpool8 indeed! I watched it in the cinema and it was beautiful! they should be numbers 1 and 2 on this list :)
Muhammad Fakhrian Noor yeah it's not just Music it's a whole show and it's the best show of all :)
9999Annabel Awesome! I wish I could have too, but I have the Blu Ray version. I think that Plug In Baby performance alone merits a spot on this chart XD
ZombieDeadpool8 ooh yes, definitely! plug in baby stays one of their best songs, and live is always more spectacular! :D

You know, as a joke, how about placing in Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl in this list? It's technically a concert, and there is music.
One of my favorite concert films must be Alter Bridge - Live in Amsterdam.
This list was basically perfect. Great job, guys :)
Hold on, did they say no rockumentaries? I looked up a list of rockumentaries and some of the choices are considered rockumentaries (Gimme Shelter, Woodstock, Live at Pompeii, etc.). Green Day never got a mention? C'mon... "Awesome as Fuck" or "Bullet in a Bible"?
My fave concert film is Green Day's Bullet in a Bible :p

I totally agree with you. That concert was awesome, especially next to some of the other ones on this list. (I've noticed that they don't mention Green Day much on their lists)

I think that Green Day's Bullet in a Bible and Black Sabbath's the Last Super belongs in this mix as well.

00:47 Was that fucking Ben Stiller?
I'm just happy that the Rolling Stones are here in the list and honorable mentions.
Alright WatchMojo I give you credit for all of these other facts that you have, but if you are going to mention the Dave Chappelle Block Party movie you've got to mention that it had a Fugees reunion not just Lauryn Hill.
Love the Last Waltz!!!!
+Alan Corbould YES! "Festival Express" deserved a nod, for sure.

00:48 Ben Stiller? O_o
$5 says Cliff Burton's head is in the duffel bag hahahha
Thank you so much for adding some hiphop to the list!
Muse live at the Rome Olympic stadium should have at least gotten an honorable mention.
Wolfmother even used Pink Floyd: Live At Pompeii as an influence for their music video for "Mind's Eye."
Bullet in a Bible should have at least gotten an honorable mention, probably belonged in the top 10 around 7 or so
GREEN DAY'S BULLET IN A BIBLE!!!!!
John Mayer's Where the Light is should have at least been an honorable mention
The big four in sofia??
"No Nukes" could have been an honourable mention as well.
The Wall live at Berlin? Nobody? 50meters Wall in the middle of Berlin with a stage in the middle? Flying Stageparts with guitarrist playing solos? Really? Nobody?
Although I love this list, I believe that HAARP by Muse should have replaced Metallica. Great show IMHO.
This was actually a pretty good list WatchMojo.com
for once you didn't stick to a complete dadist list.
Muse - HAARP live at Wembley (2007), Led Zeppelin - Celebration Day live at O2 (2007), Rage Against The Machine - Live at Finsbur y Park (2010) should've been on the list
Where's This Is It...???
Coldplay ! John Mayer!! Neil Young !!!
The Last Waltz is the greatest concert film ever made. The Grateful Dead Movie and Roy Orbison Black and White Night should all be in the top ten...Monterey Pop belongs there too!
