10. Radiohead - They have been dominating rock since the 90's. It's been 24 years but I don't think there will never be another album released that will be as good as OK Computer (1997). I can only think of two albums that came close -- Kid A (2002) and In Rainbows (2007) and Radiohead made both of them.
9. The Velvet Underground - Not many people bought the Velvet’s albums when they were originally released, but everyone who did formed a band. The alternative rock scene of the late 80's and 90's owe it all to them.
8. Black Sabbath - Invented heavy metal and still are the best metal band in history. Any hard-rock band that ever tried to write a crazy twelve-minute operetta owes them a debt.
7. The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Everybody knows that Jimi Hendrix is the greatest human being to ever touch a guitar. Is he even human tho? Challenged the entire rock genre by doing shit that had never been done before with his guitar. Hard rock, psychedelic rock, and heavy metal wouldn't have survived or even existed without the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
6. Queen - The greatest rock performers and nobody comes close. Easily the most iconic pop/rock group ever.
5. The Who - The pioneers of the rock concert, rock attitude, rock lifestyle. They completed the definition of rock.
4. Pink Floyd - If you were to write a list of the top 10 best albums of all time... it should include at least 15 Pink Floyd albums or it wouldn't be valid.
3. Led Zeppelin - In terms of pure musical talent, they are the greatest line up of music since the history of music. They basically just set the standard of what "Rock" should be.
2. The Rolling Stones - Have always been regarded as the best "rock and roll" band especially after the Beatles broke up.
1. The Beatles - The Beatles.

The top five bands who I feel on any given day could swipe the top spot are The Who, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd. True pioneers and everyone of them are responsible for multiple MONSTER albums. If you wanted to list the greatest rock songs of all time, I'll take these beasts and you could have every other band that ever existed.
True
Jeff, that's pretty much my top five also, although you can make an argument for Queen and even Santana to be in that group. So in my mind you've got seven bands vying for the top 5 spots. Throw in The Doors, CCR, and Fleetwood Mac, and you've got a pretty formidable Top Ten.
@@paulkane7771 Agreed. There are multiple bands you could swipe out in the top ten for sure. Of the top five I have listed, The Who are my favorite, with The Beatles a close second. I never loved Zeppelin, but I don't think any objective list of greatest rock bands can omit them(many would put them at number one). What amazes me most about the bands I mentioned is that everyone one of them has a song catalog that puts them above all other groups. Factor in that all of them sounded great live(even The Beatles), it's hard for me to exalt any other groups above them.

The reason why Rock is dying of not dead is because we (Rock lovers) are sticking to old songs (which are the best ever btw) only and not listening to the new bands/artists out here expanding their potentials...we are killing this genre..
True. Rock fans have been listening to the same music for decades now, which is understandable because it's really good, but it doesn't really inspire artists to make new rock music and it doesn't help that music get a following. I wish more people would open up their musical horizons, not just in the rock genre but in general. I'm a fan of classic rock, but I don't feel bad about liking modern pop or rap songs. Music is music.
TechnicalHotDog I see it different. I see lots of people stuck back in an era too lazy to search for newer music. There is always awesome music being created and with the internet, we have more at our fingertips. We used to just listen to what the radio and mtv fed us mostly. That was also back in a time when most artists were signed to some major label which didn’t really give you the freedom to be creative like you can be now. Back then, you kinda had to worry about getting on the radio or mtv. In order to do that, you have to please many people. Now, you can just put your music on CZcams. You are right about people searching for the same ole stuff, but ignorant music fans won’t be dictating what the musicians are gonna be out there doing. They will do their thing. It’s up to us to find it.

ac/dc and guns'n roses too
Ewan i agree with you. I like the rolling stones too, whoops.
Lmao you just copied what the video said. Stop saying is your top 3
The reason why the Beatles are the best rock band of all time was because they basically made the music what it is today. They invented the whole concept of pop and the rock songs we love was pop at that time. Pink Floyd and queen are fantastic bands but there music wouldn’t have been the same whiteout Beatles. You can’t say Beatles just made pop or a certain type of music. Beatles did art in form of a day in the life and all sort of songs. Beatles was revolutionary back then and is still.
I'm sorry but if you say that, you haven't listened to the beatles. While I'd argue Pink Floyd and The Beatles are tied in 1st place,
The Beatles also had very experimental music with deeper lyrics, their first 3 albums just don't have them as much.
I'd suggest you listen to Magical Mystery Tour or Sgt Peppers lonely hearts club band.
Underrated comment
Linkin park > all
@@henrizoto No. Linkin Park has some good stuff but they could never beat out a lot of bands
@@Blade-vk4fe Yes yes yes.
Listen Faint or Pushing me away, burn it down or In the end..
Better than all !!
This is literally the only list from Mojo I agree with.
Never expected for them to put Radiohead on one of the best bands but here we are.
Pink Floyd and Nirvana too
Queen will always be my favourite band ever. Every single one of their albums amazed me (including Hot Space) to be honest I actually liked that album, even if it had criticisms after it's release. I also love Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Who, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd all of them fabulous bands in their own right. All of them regardless of their rankings are legendary and they all had such a huge impact on so many generations of fans worldwide.
Queen were... I don't have the words. Their music means everything to me. I will take it to the grave with me.
Queen were a great band, but not Beatles or Led Zep great.
@@youandwhosearmy6339 I know exactly that feeling. They’re just more than a step above, they have their own entire dimension. And as I type this, one of their songs is playing on a tv commercial in the other room. They are timeless and the most brilliantly entertaining band of all time ♥️♥️♥️

Being a queen fan . I think Beatles changed the world they deserve no 1
And Doors deserved top 10
@simon templer so overrated. Cant tell even one decade defining song.
@simon templer your profile picture is funny af. where can i find it??
Beatles the greatest
You're ignorant and toxic
Thank you for the honorable mentioning of The Ramones ❤️
Pink Floyd, then Pink Floyd, and then Pink Floyd. Industry, electronic, harmony, especial vocal, songs, concepts, payoff, ..... all at once unique.
black sabbath, nirvana, the Doors.... honorable mentions? And beach boys in a top 10?
Ramones out of the top 10¿
Santiago Nigro The person who made this list didn't want to include some of the best, I guess
Another veryyyyyyyyyyyyy overrated band .the ramones toured in a van.same song over and over.just because they r dead does not make them better.ANOTHER THING.ALL THIS CRAP COMING FROM AROUND N.Y.C. BACK IN THE DAY WHEN NOBODY GIVE A SHET ABOUT IT'PATTY SMITH'RAMONES'VELVET UNDERGROND.THERE WERE 20 BANDS JUST IN THE SOUTH WITH WAYYY BETTER MUSIC THAT WERE DRAWING CROWDS WHERE EVER THEY WENT.ITS ABOUT THE MUSIC AND SHE COULDN'T SING'HER 1 HIT WAS BY BRUCE'RAMONE PLAYED 1 SONG ALNITE AND NO ONE CAME TO SPEAK OF AND THE UNDERGROUND GOT POPULAR WAY AFTER THEY HAD DISSAPPEARED CAUSE SOME NEW YOURERS THOUGHT THEY SHOULD BE GREAT CAUSE THEY WERE FROM N.Y.KINDA LIKE BABS AND SINATRA.PLENTY OF SINGERS AS GOOD OR BETTER BUT YOU GOT PAPERS AND THE MEDIA TO PUSH IT.
Leslie Daniels Fine but you don´t have to shout in order to make a point.
Leslie Daniels Maybe you can afford more lower case letters next time...
This is a dangerous list to compile because almost no one will agree with it. For example, I feel that every honorable mention band belongs on the list over Radiohead and U2.
Yes. How the fuck did Black Sabbath not make this list?
leekleek1000
EXACTLY!
leekleek1000
Wait, Sabbath aren't on this list?

Only as an honorable mention.
TheCurmudgen U2 should be in the top 3. It's the band that won more grammys awards and made the biggest tour of all time, with fantastics live performances. Besides that, these four guys, working not only as musicians, but also as activists in the fight against poverty, etc. And they have several musical hits such as Where the streets have no name, Pride, Beutiful Day, With our without you, One, Sunday Bloody Sunday, I still have not found what i'm looking for, vertigo, bad and many more. ..

That was a huge loss.
What you need to understand is that; before the Beatles, there was nothing and they created the heavens and the earth in less than 7 days. They appeared and our world changed, music was never the same, it became the focal point of our dreams and aspirations, a daily societal turning point that changed everything. Like a mantra of life, a call to freedom that said; love is all you need, and the world can be as one! To explain it is to know the meaning of life, there are no words to compare to the excitement, togetherness and the purpose of turn on your mind, relax and float downstream! They enabled a progressive realization that everything is possible, they dominated the most intensive decade of change in history. They are The Greatest, they are The One, The Only, They are the list!
How long did it take you to write that?

The Beatles: The White Album
Metallica: The Black Album
Jay-z: The Grey Album
ABBA: The Album
Primus: the brown album
Technically the white album was not actually called the white album. It was given that nickname coz of the white cover. It was actually just called the Beatles
Wezzer the blue album
@@jw16gv67 and the black album wasn't actually called the album either
Some people are saying that The Beatles isn't even a rock band.Dude, they made the first hard rock song in history.
Jammer99 The beatles are rock,i agree. But not sure about first hard rock song.........now that is extremely debatable.
dość wolny Yes it is debatable but I heard much about it and dude its a hard rock song.Actually The beatles made pop-rock songs in first few years, but after rubber soul they started to make something diffrent.
I presume you mean helter skelter, yes its hard rock verging into metal territory, the problem is that their were about 10 other bands around the same time who were also pushing heavier songs into the metal realms. The beatles were not alone.
dość wolny I think they made it before other bands.I heard that the who made a loudy song, and beatles made helter skelter against that.
Blue cheer, steppenwolf, even pink floyd, kinks etc etc
I think The Kinks, Yardbirds and The Byrds deserves an honorable mention as well.
All bands that started in the 60s. Each set a blueprint for others.
1. The Beatles
2. Rolling Stones
3. Beach Boys
4. The Byrds
5. The Who
6. The Kinks
7. The Yardbirds
8. The Jimi Hendrix Experience
9. The Moody Blues
10. Led Zeppelin
You forgot Pink Floyd my man
Ffs how can you speak about the 60s without including The Doors?? Literally half of the 80s and 70s rockstars had a Jim Morrison poster in their room at some point.
where the bloody fuck is ACDC?
Replace U2 with AC/DC. I'm still surprised they didn't even get an honourable mention.
AC/DC is top 5 no doubt, I know they look everything up for watch mojo and they come up as one of the top babda
Why is no one talking about how Watchmojo called queen heavy metal?
Because no one is taking them seriously
What really amazes me is that there are 100 dumbfucks (300 now), who have liked your comment. They are one of the pioneers of Thrash Metal & Speed Metal. "Stone Cold Crazy" is one of the first thrash metal song written. Mercury wrote that way back in 66-67 when Black Sabbath even came in existence. 'Modern times rock n roll' LIVE version at Rainbow, is among the first speed metal tracks. Most ppl don't bother delving into any deep tracks on Queen's albums. Their first 4 albums were all metal with progressive rock on Queen 2. I think people have formed wrong perceptions abt Queen judging them, based on their radio hits of 80s.
They have more metal songs then Led Zeppelin, WTF you're talking about??
@@tycobb531 Very true. But the person who wrote the comment is probably just a normy, who knows the big Hit Songs everyone knows and judges from that.
First four Queen albums were influenced by metal & art rock apart from Queen 2 which is progressive rock.

@@KalteHoelle666 hahahahaha good joke. lmao
@@nunovitale4579 I am a musician. I know everyone has their own opinion about music. I also like to hear AC / DC, but with the knowledge that their songs are not high quality. So there is zero effort, zero creativity. AC / DC is a band that is not recognized by many other musicians. Guns N Roses is a little further. But still look from bands like Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple. In general, it is not bad if you copy of his role models a bit. Guns N Roses is overdoing it and so Guns N Roses is just a copy that worked well. Secretly, as a band, they were not as creative as many think. But admiring her on Guns N Roses is her look and style. As a '90s band, they were just good looking punk rockers. Everyone wanted to be like them. No doubt, Slash is a gifted guitarist, the rest was just show. Axl Rose is a good showman anyway.
AC / DC is just an example for me how to make Shit into Gold.
And Guns N Roses is just a copie of lz.
But the drummer of roses is just a normal drummer. Lz have Bonham. King of drums.
U2? TOP10... no no no
Lol.. then who? coldplay?
David Bowie?
+Avl Shukla Scorpions
SGFFG Scorpions deserves a place here as does U2, just how great they were live

My Top 10
10 Nirvana
9 The Rolling Stones
8 Rush
7 The Who
6 U2
5 Radiohead (best post classic rock band IMO)
4 Queen (Popularity ain’t everything)
3 The Beatles (So they were an iconic band of the 60s big f**king deal)
2 Pink Floyd (My personal favourite and definitely has better music and lyrics than Beatles)
1 Led Zeppelin (The most talented band ever with the most perfectly crafted rock songs)
though not my #1, i understand the beatles being #1 on this list. my list would be stones, clash, who, pink floyd, beatles, genesis, black sabbath, talking heads, santana and rush.
The Clash is so iconic and every song of theirs is a mood. They are my personal favorite band of all time.
Mojo says The Rolling Stones are the greatest rock band but they are number 5
It was probably the narrorators favorite band but not ther WatchMojo studios picks
And mojo is stupid
She said they are “the greatest Rock n’ Roll band” while the list is about the best Rock bands, this is because (if I’m not wrong) Rock n’ roll is a specific sub genre of Rock, just as progressive rock (Pink Floyd), Metal, etc...
Beatles>Radiohead
@@nicky8257 I guess your "Hitler hair do is making Radiohead feel ill"............ fucking Nazi
Radiohead makes the list but the Doors and Nirvana are "honorable mentions??" I watched Nirvana completely change the musical landscape with one album.. uugh who makes these mojo lists?
It's kinda hard to put a band like Nirvana with only to three albums on a top ten.Their impact was bigger than Radioheads but Radiohead has more music, better music and made a massive impact too.
Those top two spots are indisputable imo. The top 5 in fact is quite respectable.... but yes I believe the 6 - 10 spots could interchange with 10 or 15 more bands on a well thought out Top 20 list.
Yea like Black Sabbath definatley needs to find a place on a top 20 list.
