Before watching The Great Indian Kitchen I used to be completely ignore cleaning of dishes after eating, its not like I dont do anywork, I used to and also do is sweeping the house, mopping, cleaning bathroom on some occasions, help my grandmother in laundry, but when I watched the movie, I felt so bad that I was ignorant about the kitchen work, since then even though I dont cook, but started doing dishes, and this really is helping my mom to take more rest as she is a working woman.
This movie is an absolute gem.
Much love from Telangana 😊
Thanks.
Ohww yes the movie inspired me as well.. Though I used to help my mom I did something n went back ignorant of how she still had a 100 chores to finish before going to bed... I started helping her until I was sure all the works are done... I

Malyalam cinema is literally succeeding ragingly over past few years.... Would be really interesting to watch what Bollywood has to offer if wanting to compete with these top level creations.
@Gigachand Oscar i hardly a standard to compete with. It's as Kamal Haasan said, not a world standard, but an American standard. We don't need validation from them. Rather, a country of 1.3 billion people can mutually seek and give validation. Why do we need Oscars?

*The great Indian kitchen is a masterpiece*
Just want to say a few words abt Suraj Venjaramoodu (the actor in great Indian kitchen)
As a malayali I grew up watching his comedy roles a lot. Honestly never thought he could act like that until I saw a short scene from "Action hero biju(2016)". It was a breakthrough performance from an actor who, until then, was mostly known to viewers for his funny, often annoying roles as a comic sidekick. After that he started getting great roles. The next year,2017, "Thondimuthalum driksakshiyum" was released. In 2018 "Kuttanpilleyude sivarathri" was released. In 2019 "Finals", "Android kunjappan 2.0", "Vikruthi" and "Driving license"were released. His performance in all these movies are GREAT! He is my fav Malayalam actor right now. Man literally went from playing the fool to HERO!
True. It feels like he's finally getting the recognition he deserves with a wider spectrum of roles coming his way!
Ps: got to appreciate a fellow malayali army 💜
@PRIJITH PJ I know but most of the people hadn't got chance to watch that movie due to it's limited release. It was in Action hero biju where most of us saw him in an entirely different role. But what u said is correct too :)
U forgot thondimuthalum driksakshiyum
Honestly, actors like Salim Kumar, Indrans and Suraj are lucky. People like Jagathy and Kalpana started getting good roles after decades and look how it tragically came to an end.
Honestly I feel like Malayalam actors are very much skilled and capable on breaking their type cast
They are actively willing to explore beyond their comfort zone.
Examples are many from Salim kumar, Suraj and Indrans to even KPAC Lalitha, Kalpana, Nimisha Sajan, and many More.
A huge respect🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hoping to see a 'kannada movie' in the list in future.

Malayalam cinema has always been producing gems like chitram, kireedam, sandesham, vaalsalyam, devasuram(highly recommended), passenger, big b, arike, kammatipadam and many more. The content , performances, music and various aspects involved in film making are mesmerizing. The streaming platforms are a game changer with respect to the industry.
IKRRR Malayalam cinemas has been great to begin with.
Vatsalyam was a movie with so many regressive messages, as was the time for many movies back then. Modernisation is shown as a villain, with many dialogues glorifying patriarchy, male supremacy, and primitive practices. Most of the time, the wife of the younger brother says the right things, and yet she is portrayed as a negative character. Even the younger brother marrying a woman of his choice is portrayed in negative light here.
Big B, while being something new to Mollywood, was executed badly. While being an unofficially remake of Four Brothers, the unnecessary and over use of slo-mos make it hard to watch.

"The Great Indian Kitchen"
Really made me think about it n had a hangover of it for a couple of days😐
The reason I think Malayalam cinema is so far ahead is because it is one of the few industries where the storyline is not changed solely considering the box office . It also goes to show the open mindedness of the malayalam audience and their ability to see their stars in every shade of acting and accepting them for that rather than type casting .
Naveen Polishetty is a gem. I'm his fan since AIB times
"Aur, tera l#nd aajkal kya bhok raha hai"
Overrated
@not now I admit that he is talented but you know ppl are praising him too much for nothing. Even that Jathirathnalu is a barely move with some good humour and people many ppl are praising it like its a masterpiece. He didn't do that great in terms of acting honestly and btw who is kangana?
@not now they are good films and his acting is kindda decent but what I honestly think is that he still have to prove himself. Ppl are still criticizing vdk alot about his acting then why a guy like Naveen who just started his career getting that much of praise for nothing. I would not say mohanlal is best actor.. Indian is a county of 130 cr people there may be so many axceptional actors but he is versatile and outstanding acto.... But the sad thing is thay people know only about his recent movies but his best time was between 1985 - 1999 it is the period which actually molded him which lead to the birth of movies like sadhayam, dasharadham, namukku parkan munthirithopukal, thoovanathumbikal, iruvar, kireedam, kilukkam, thenmavinkombath, manichithrathazhu, SPHADIKAM, thazhvaram etc

Good job Jammy..couldn't agree more with the selection....also selecting "Great Indian Kitchen" as no:1..the movie should be a must watch for couples during Pre- marriage counseling and family counseling all over India....it bares the blatant Patriarchy of our regressive marriage system...also your words " Is the role of a wife as a domestic help who is hired for free even consenting sex at night?" ..well chosen words!👏

The sad fact about great Indian kitchen is that it’s the story of each and every woman we see around. Be it my own mom or the aunty in the neighborhood. How easily we think that cleaning dishes or even getting a cup of water from the kitchen is their responsibility.
