My family came from Mexico and migrated to Texas my grandmother would make those , me and my younger brother would hide them in plastic bags under her bed because we did not want to share. Both my grandmother and my brother are in heaven and this is the first time I have ever seen anybody make them. Thank you for sharing!
❤😘
Delicious,, I love your videos and your easy recipes ❤
You have such a pleasant way about you; I love watching you cook💕 I can understand why Ron had to eat two of the gorditas before the end of the video! 😋 Thank you Rachel.
The first time I had gorditas was in Guatemala, but they weren’t sweet… we had them with the main meal, like tortillas. It was at a restaurant high in the mountains and to keep us warm, there were braziers under the tables that contained a lump of burning coal. We’d put our feet on them, stay toasty warm, and eat that wonderful food and our gorditas. It’s one of my most favorite memories.
I just love everything you cook, you’re so calm when you show us how, thank you. I love these and can’t wait to try them. The bad thing is that I live alone and probably will eat them in no time 😋
🥰🥰🥰AMAZING, JUST LOVE THEM WITH MY COFFEE 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💎
You are the BEST Rachel.
My beloved mother made these often...but I do not remember if she used a tortilla press or she rolled them out. We ate them buttered only and with coffee. I do believe it's time to make these; I have NEVER made them myself! By the way, I am 72 and my passion is cooking and especially baking. I am thoroughly enjoying all your videos, Rachel. I live in Del Río, Texas, 150 miles west from San Antonio.
They look delish, Rachel!!
I’ve never had one but I will definitely make these in the winter . I been watching your videos all day😊💜
These are super delicious, my grandma made them weekly...they aren't flexible like pancakes, they are like cookies (firm but soft) I love them. Have your honey or favorite topping ready. Thank you so much for your comment my friend. ❤
Hi doll
I love watching you in the kitchen...
I always want whatever you make.
These look delicious
😋
I’m going to have to make these, they look awesome. I made your beef vegetable soup 4 times and everyone I share it with - absolutely loves it. I learn by seeing people do things. Your videos are the perfect tool for teaching me to be a better cook!
That looks great
Yes, for sure.❤️
They look like pancakes, but you eat them like toast. Dough reminds me of sugar cookie dough. Definitely trying these with the grandkids. All your recipes look so good that I can’t wait to try them and I’ve been cooking for over 60 years!
Looks like a cross between a pancake and sugar cookies. Yum!!
They look great
Se ven riquísima; 😊
I love these little gorditas I've never seen a recipe so simple. I'm definitely going to give these a try. thank you for posting
I have to try this recipe! I have been watching your videos all day and have a long list of recipes to try. I just love you!!!!
Thank you so much, these gorditas de azucar are delicious, they are cookie like, and my grandma and mom always made them when I was growing up. Thank you so much for your comment and support of my channel my friend. ❤
Ay prima, they looked delicious 😋. I would eat them with butter or strawberry jelly.🥰❤
You a re the best!!❤
I love your food and I love the way you explain everything. Thank you so very much!!! You are part of my life, its fun to remember the food from my childhood ♡
I grew up in Albuquerque New Mexico, and I remember the authentic Mexican food. Soppapillas, corn and flour Tortillas, pizole, and the list goes on and on. Mexican foods are one my favorites. I love that you cook authentically. I live in a small rural town in north central Idaho, and yes, we have a Mexican restaurant here, but the food is terrible. I had dinner there once and that was enough. People here don't know or appreciate true authentic Mexican foods because they've never had the pleasure. Nothing like it. My favorites are Chile relleno and tamales, scrambled eggs with chopped mild green chiles, oh so yummy. I'm so glad I found and subscribed to your channel. I'll be making some of your recipes! Thank you for sharing your talents and recipes with us. I appreciate that! Happy new year Rachel, may you and your family be richly blessed in this new year!
I like these with homemade walnut butter. Sooo yummy!
I will need to make these. Never tried them but they look very good. Especially with fine chop pecan.

Am from Lubbock Tx . these look so good Rachel thank you yummy
Dough scares me. I have never been good at making any kind of dough. But I will try this.
I love all your cooking and baking and I just adore you talk about your husband as my Ron. That's very endearing.
Thanks for sharing I like rockie roll and strawberry
These look great! I’ve never tried these. My mom is a great cook, but she never made tortillas or any types of pastries or homemade treats…she always said she wasn’t going to get stuck in that trap of my dad wanting it all on the daily…lol
Oh Rachel I’m so horrible working anything to do with dough.. but this looks absolutely delish. 🤞🏼I’m going to try and I hope they turn out like yours. So enjoy watching your videos and trying your foods. Thank you so much … your so appreciated. 🌹

Really yummy 😋. God Bless you Rachel. It's lovely watching you cook.
They look like little pancakes. Yummy 😋
Yes they do, but have the texture of a cookie and taste between a sugar cookie and a scone, as a matter af fact, the recipe is very similar.❤
Love all your recipes
Looks like a sweet Valentines treat!!❤️thank you😁
Just watched 3 of your videos and my mouth is watering at all that deliciousness! You’re very calm and also very clear in your instructions. Thank you for making these videos. 🥰

im making them! thank you!
Those look delicious. delicious
Thank you so much. ❤
I so enjoy watching your videos. I love it when you taste the end result and you just say mmmmm. The look on your face tells me that your recipe turned out just the way you wanted it to turn out. I have only been watching a short while but I went to the beginning of your videos and it was so sweet the way you kept saying "my Ron". "My Ron" will need to have lots of control not to be as big as a barn with a cook like you around. It's a good thing he's a golfer. Thanks again for sharing your recipes and your stories of growing up with good cooks in the family.🧄🌮
I enjoy watching you cook
Thank you so much.❤⚘

They look delicious and want to make them but I do not have a tortilla press.
I have watched so many of your recipes and I love your channel and yes, you do cook with love❤
Sending many blessings to you and your Ronnie from Canada.
These look delicious. I like the way you explain mixing the dough. Do you have a video on how to make your jam? Love watching and learning from you.😀😀
These look great. Please consider writing the recipe in the description, so much easier. thanks!
Hi Cassie, I just did it, thank you so much for reminding me to do it, these gorditas de azucar are delicious, please follow the video carefully for the best results. Thank you so much fo your comment and support of my channel. Happy New Year.❤
Rachel thank you so much for this recepie I've been looking for it for ever Rachel can we knead it with a mixer the big mixer,my little Ronnie loves to cook with you. He's my son we have no Ron .he loves all ur recetas don't stop cooking I got several sisters hooked on ur meals they love them . God bless you I think ur a beautiful lady does ur daughter cook as good as you. 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️ From Aurora IL
Thank you so much for your comment, I've never made these using my stand mixer, but I bet it would work, thank you, your son Ronnie and your family for your support. My daughter is an amazing cook.❤
Yeah Ron got to taste first 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yummmy
It’s so funny about the smooth edges because my mother had rough jagged edges and now I’m thinking she didn’t knead them enough. Anyways, thank you for this recipe because I couldn’t remember the name of the bread.
😘❤️❤️❤️
Yes, the perfect gorditas de azucar recipe, thank you so much! Don't you know I'll be headed out to a Mexican supermarket to buy a tortilla press tomorrow so I can come back and make these delicacies myself. Now I know it's all about the needing and the oily hands. Plus thank you so much for the tip of oiling your cup before putting in your shortening and the adding of pecan pieces is just genius. Thank you so much for posting this video as it touches me for sentimental reasons. I think your next step is putting all your wonderful recipes into print. Blessings for you and your Ron for a wonderful & blissful rest of your week. BTW, will you also be posting the recipe?
Thank you my friend, I hope I didnt embarrass you by posting your name on the screen, but I meant it for you...do get you a tortilla press because you can do so much with it, I can't be without mine, your right about the oily cup, it works perfect, no mess! I also rub very little before pouring honey and it doesn't cling at all...the trick is in the kneading no doubt, but the oil and oily hands go along with it too, do try them and when you make them, ket me know what you think, the pecans and toppings are the bomb!!! Thank you dear friend take good care of yourself and your Johnny. ❤
@@rachelcookswithlove You didn't embarrass me at all but rather I felt honored. Thank You!
A book is a wonderful idea.❤😋
Yummy
Thank you. ❤
FA NTASTICO. FROM MERIDIANVILLE.. ALABAMA
I lived in El Paso several years ago. There was a place I loved to eat that made gorditas, but they were made with masa. They would slit them open about halfway, and fill them with taco meat etc, or red or green stew and stuff cheese over the stew or taco meat, and I loved them. Do you make them like that, and have a recipe? Thanks.
Thanks!
No problem!. you are very welcome
I love your cooking! But how long do you spend in the kitchen daily??
Mmmmm
❤
These look so good. Can they be frozen? I cook for myself and I night be tempted to eat the whole batch!
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
Needs a pinch more cinnamon 🙏🥰
When you hand nead your dough for 15 minutes you know it is made with love!
Rachael your cooking gets better and better!! Could I use my kitchen aid dough attachment? And a rolling pen? I don't have a tortilla press. But I have everything else!! Yay!
Hi Debra, I've never used my stand mixer, but I bet it would work well, let me know please...you can put the dough ball between 2 plastic sheets then press with a plate, it doesn't take alot of pressure, that should work well too...the gorditas de azucar texture will be like a cookie like texture, very traditional, thank you so much fir your question.❤
I will definitely let you know. Thank you.
@@rachelcookswithlove Thank you so much for your recipes. Wish I had the gumson to try them.
Mrs. Rachael , I would loove to make those, but I’m gluten free. Will they come out just as good using gluten free flour? Hope to hear from you, I loove your recipes. God bless and keep up the good work.❤️💐💐🙏🙏🙏
Hi 👋 I'm a new subscriber. My grandmother would make these all the time when she was still here with us. They were delicious 😋 my grandmother was from Nuevo Leon, Mexico 🇲🇽

@@dorasanchez7051 I live near fresno too!!
My lil girl Violet said to make albondigas please.

They've only lasted about 3 days in my house, but were delicious warm, my Ron loves them with peanut butter and bananas too!! I love them with jam, and butter when I make cream of wheat or oatmeal, fresh pecans sound perfect... thank you my friend. ❤
Omg delish. You mentioned the RGV. Where in the RGV are you from?
I want to be Rachel's friend
Hi Rachel can you make the little gorditas using instant tortilla mix instead of the flour ?
Hi I really enjoy watching your videos. You are a very beautiful lady. Wanted to ask if you could use butter instead of shortening?
Bendiciones tiene videos en español?❤🙏🌻
Could you use a mixer with a dough hook?
Could you use a food processor to mix?
Can I substitute the white sugar with brown sugar
Have you made pozole green?
Do u have a recipe of polvonos
Do you make your own butter
Why did you not use a mixer with a dough hook? Just wondering.
definitely will try to make these!!! 👩🏻🍳
