I couldn't agree more. It should be broadcast on a regular basis...and everywhere. Its beauty and message are so incredibly haunting. And don't overlook the awesome music by Dutch composer, Siddhartha (Sid) Barnhoorn, who should have received an Emmy for it!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had my husband watch this video when it first came out and it impressed him so much he started wearing his seat belt every time he got in the car, something he hadn't done before. Today he was in a rollover accident going to work and as the highway patrol took him out of the mangled car they said he if he hadn't been wearing his seat belt he would have surely died. Thank you for making this video... you saved his life.

1988 my brother went out the sunroof got one hit on the head he's a vegetable in the hospital for not wearing the seat belt I'm 70, he is 69.

I watched this 10 years ago before having kids and I still teared up and got captivated by it. The look of fear on his eyes and the concern in his daughter’s and how she and his wife run to embrace his and save his life is powerful. And now I have a 9 year old girl and this video hits me even harder ❤️

It's already been said over and again in the comments but I consider this a work of art. Whoever wrote, directed, and produced/edited this piece are geniuses and as talented as any I've ever seen. It captures everything in life as it passes by your eyes in that moment when the frailty of existence becomes clear. And your family and loved ones are symbolic in this piece, and would keep you safe if they could, but the end result is those are the ones you would leave behind. It is brief, it is poignant, it is relevant, and it is just an incredibly well done film.
Excellent----but, maybe too sensible for some, perhaps Darwins principle of, the survival of the 'fittest' , is at play here.

I never get much past the first 10 seconds without it drawing tears from my eyes. When I teach rhetoric to my students I use this ad to underscore pathos. Teenagers will try to cover their tears, usually unsuccessfully.

This Commercial says soo much. It's very emotional because the fact that this guys family stepped in as a Seatbelt to save him, the impact was huge. But he would not have to worry, its like the love from his family saved him. Loved it.

I am seeing it, I cry. I put the repeat button and crying again and I put again the repeat button again and cry again etc etc etc. And probably I am getting a strange addiction to this small piece of art who is all about love and protection.

Update: My husband only had a few nasty bumps and bruises and has already been released to go back to work. His car, on the other hand, was totally mangled. Even the insurance agent commented how lucky he was and how his seat belt did a lot to keep him safe. Once again my daughter, husband, and I THANK you from the bottom of our hearts

The add that saved my life 2 and half years ago.
When I was driving my car, I remembered it and smiled and put on the seat belt.
15 mins later I had an accident where my car was damaged completely.
I was blessed to come out alive without any scratch.

You know, I had heard of this and never watched as it sounded very overdramatic as man public service ads are. This is the only one that has ever evoked an emotional response from me without the rather poor taste of using graphic images or stories involving injured children. This is an amazingly well done video.

I saw this ad many years ago, and to this day, I always wear a seat belt. All thanks to this beautiful and moving ad.
Upon watching this video multiple times, I've sort of begun to look at this video in another light. An analogy for life, and when things get dark, and how family/friends are there for you when you take a bad path in life. The climax of this darkness being when he crashes and his loved ones hold on to him for dear life. Looking at it like that made this video even MORE impactful to me.
I've watched this video countless times ( including today ) and every time, it never stops to move me emotionally.

This video is by far one of the most beautiful video's I have ever seen. Every time I watch it, I tear up. Such a powerful message! Sometimes I find myself watching it over and over again. Really makes one think just how fragile life really is and should enjoy every second we have..
How can there be ANY thumbs down on this incredible spot?? I am currently narrating "Hey, Whipple! Squeeze This!", one of the best books on advertising ever written, and this is one of the author's highlighted spots for excellence. And deservedly so. I still get goosebumps when I see it all these years later. Kudos to Daniel Cox and company.

Got hired as a delivery driver and they played this for us. Had to look it up and watch again, beautiful video.
What a wonderful way to make the point that safety saves lives. Great idea. Thanks to those who dreamed up this PSA. My car was part of a major impact accident and my seat belt and air bag saved my life also. I didn't even have my glasses knocked off my face. It was awesome. The other fellow was NOT wearing his belt and he suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital. Both vehicles were totaled. I had not even a scratch on me, and he spent days in the hospital. Lesson learned!

I have kept this ad/art piece in my FAVS list for many years. It is a masterpiece of advertising, where I spent my career. The visuals are indeed, well done...telling a story, simple and strong. But remember, it's the music that brings in the emotion and the power. The masterpiece of this score is why we all love this ad. Try watching it without the music, and you will know what I mean.

Perhaps it is because I have seen first hand on more than one occasion fatal accidents. I am a firm believer in the use of seat belts, they do save lives.

Every now and again I remember this and go hunting for it. When I find it, I watch it. And cry. Every time. Then I have to watch it a few times until I start to feel silly sitting in front of the monitor with tears rolling down my face. So I stop. Until next time.

Any aid towards safety, may reach certain people, including the crash, blood, shock type imaging/video. . . but this idea and production to convey the tenderness and yearning most of us recognise and value highly as people - in the title, the imaging, and the link to safety belts as "embrace life". . . is a great piece of work. . . thanks.
