  • SDS Imports once again is making big moves in the Firearms industry. With their debut of the B9R in both a 4.25" and a 5' model coming in at sub $800.00! I can tell you right now, don't let the price fool you! The B9R DS is a shooter, it will be in my opinion crowned the best entry level 2011/1911 double stack pistol of 2024. this won't be the only review of the B9R from Tisas on the channel.

    Thanks for the review. I want a 5" 2011 as a range gun down the road to customize and this seems to be a great candidate. There are 2 2011's in my EDC rotation but I really like the idea of porting a 5". While I do not like the fact that Holosun' is a Chinese product, they do make solid optics.

    I've been waiting for the Tisas DS's. I have a Platypus, love it. Snagged a Prodigy 4.25 for close to $1100 since I wanted one and well, I got it. Then the Tisas came out, wanted the carry, no one had one in stock, got the 5" and paid $750 because I was weak. Then I found the Carry for close to $600 in stock and ordered it and had it the next week so....yeah. Still want the Mac 9 too but I can wait since I have 4 DS 1911's now. Have to say, I'm a fan. Loved my Stingray 9mm, sold it to fund the first DS9, and my buddy's wife commandeered it LOL Poor guy...he's the one who got me into 1911s. Either way, good review. I have the 4.25, it has been a blast to shoot and I have had 0 issues through 450fmj and 60 sig hollow points. Flawless with both their mags and Springfield 20rnd mags. The only down side is having to use the tlr7 or tlr7sub. I went with the sub for more options for rail location, the tlr7 will only fit with a single key it comes with and the paddles are kind of in the trigger for my preference. Fully kitted out with streamlight and holosun I paid less than a Prodigy bone stock🤷

    This might make people butt mad but I don't care, the EPS mrs and EPS Carry mrs are some of the best pistol dots on the market right now and they have no problem hanging with the big dogs. I actually prefer my full size EPS over my RCR, the glass has less distortion and the dot is more crisp. I do think the RCR feels more durable, but the Holosun is also a very durable sight so idk. I have never had any issues with any of Holosun's products, but I can't say the same for Steiner and Aimpoint. I did not like my ACRO and it would fogg up on the inside. That's just my 2 cents on the matter. My USPSA and IDPA setup both have holosun dots on them as well as a few of my favorite carry options. My RCR lives on my platypus but thats just for the drippyness lol. In short the EPS fucks with or without your permission.

    I am considering picking one of these up for an EDC and 2 questions I have coming from a G43X is how comfortable is it for carry considering the weight difference between a full polymer frame, and where can you find IWB holsters' for these? Do they share a holster size with other platforms of 1911 models?

    • @rdrgear
      @rdrgear  Před 2 měsíci +2

      No one can answer that. Comfort is 100% subjective to you. Carrying a full size gun. 1 it conceals better. But it’s heavier. I think your first question is why do you want to go to a full-size pistol over they you have currently.
      Now if you only own a 43x Absolutely get a full-size pistol. You should have a training gun and a carry gun. And always spend time on both with you shoot at the range or in a class.

But Staccato is not a fitted gun, nor is it assembled by gunsmiths. It's just machined components with good tolerances and assembled by techs. It has always been overpriced in my opinion. I would rather have a cheap base gun and hand fit the parts myself made from billet. I would have a better gun than a Staccato and much cheaper. I just built my first 1911 recently and it was worth going through the process to fit every component myself. I will probably do the same for my next 2011.

      @@rdrgear I have 9's...they're called SIG 229's. Three in fact. Again, BEFORE I buy a Tisas, or even much look at it...will be a double stack 45. Now...as to your "Evlove" comment. First - spelling is apparently not your best subject. Second - You've no idea my reason's, or need, where I've been and certainly not what I use...so go pound sand. Last, I've little use for the Glock 21 having used both it and the SIG P220 Tactical [which had a rail but entire stainless which was profoundly heavy in full gear] in shall we say challenging environs... Thus, there is still room in my stable for a 45, but certainly not in 9mm...but only in the double stack, and I have my reason's. Clear!

      The usefulness of the box is that it satisfies TSA - lock it, put it in your locked luggage, and you're gtg.

    I just got this same model. Duty DS 9mm. Just put the first 200 rounds thru it on Sunday. Shoots great, very happy with the purchase. Only thing I will change is the ambi safety selector. I’m a left handed shooter and the safety on the right side is not beveled in any way. It really digs into the webbing on my left thumb. I think I’ll check your website for a holster for this pistol. Hopefully you have one for left handed shooters?
