I have been working on patents for 20 years, I patented 2 tape measures and one theft device for cars and never even came close to breaking even, but it will be worth the wait. Hi Jameson, I added a solar light to my other gate. I think I paid close to $40.00 for one and it stopped working a month later. I agree that it would look great but I'm not sure if it is worth the cost. Have a good day buddy! Paul

I agree that 6x6 would better suit this large gate, but I reinforced one of them and they are tied into another post with the runners. This helps to support the gate. Hi Tom, I haven't had the chance to test other brands, but I have been extremely happy with this Ryobi. 2 of my friends bought them after using mine. My daughter lived in London for a couple of years and she sent me incredible photo's. We wanted to visit her but couldn't afford it at the time. Thanks for getting back to me, I need a nailer that is quieter than my compressor and guns and I mainly use 16g and 18g and Ryobi sells them both so i'll go with them. Thanks again Paul
Have you ever used OZ-post before? I want to use metal posts but I'm not sure about digging and setting in concrete, was thinking the OZ-post system might be a good option. Thoughts?
Hi Cali, no I am not too familiar with OZ posts, but I personally like to concrete my posts. I would be worried that the OZ system would not hold up with soft soil or with high winds. It is only spiked into the ground from what I know and it is very costly. I am not telling you not to use them, but I would research it first. I have friends in the business and they always use concrete to set the posts. I hope this helps! Thanks! Paul
I use Oz Post. Great system, saves time on installation once you learn how to drive the post. I used it first for my property. The last storm we had blew my neighbors new fence down. My 5 year old fence didn't move.

Hi Nick, 1st I want to thank you for Subscribing and Commenting! On the miter cuts, I am making a box and all of my corners are 90 degrees, therefore the cuts have to be 45 degrees.( 2 45's make a 90). I say that I am pulling an inch when measuring the inside part of the miter cut, this is because I cannot hook my tape on the inside of a miter. I can hold the tape blade flat on the miter cut at the 1 inch mark and get a more accurate measurement. Once this is done, you reading will be 1 inch longer than the actual piece. In other words, measure 8 and you will get 7. I'm sorry about the confusion, I should have shown a close up of that actual measurement. If you have any questions, please let me know. Paul
Hello Paul, I understood the "pulling" an inch (some call it burning an inch). I was unclear with my question. i apologize. What I am asking is after you cut the first miter for your first 7" piece, you measured 7" from the heel of that miter then cut the next miter cut at that point giving you the first side of the post cap that measures 7" from heel to heel. Correct? I promise not to bother you wth this question again LOL again! Be well. -Nick

I am not sure why the need to box a 4x4? At the owner's request? For such a wide gate, 6'? I would use 6x6 PT lumber.
