I've seen a few comments on this video talking smack about other CZcamsrs' experience with this game, and I'd rather people didn't do that. It's not a good vibe, not appreciated, and frankly just isn't cool to do to anyone.
L
I've started noticing that all over the place, did something happen to make people vitriolic all the sudden?
Hate is no more.
@@fletcherreder6091 >incel using vitriolic unironically
Guess i missed it
mortar shells arent homing they're predictive, visible at like 5:40-6:00 where a mortar shell misses by shooting ahead of a unit because the first unit, the targeted one. was killed by the nearby ballistae. thats super cool! it encourages you to aim mortars for like, a middle unit so you dont waste shots. like prioritizing armor foremost. etc
Would absolutely adore a series on this game
I have at least 5 episodes filmed already!
@@wanderbots yay! This looked really great, I’m looking forward to more!
@@wanderbots awesome
I totally agree
@@wanderbots YESSSSSSS
Yes! This game is so cool, I watched retromations play it too and I was actually gonna recommend this to you but I see there's no need! I'd love a series on this since the tech tree is so extensive
So glad you are enjoying Rogue Tower Wander! I can't wait to see more :)
I'd have pre-ordered, but I'll settle for waitlisting... Sad that my workweek starts on launch day. ^^;
i just got it, great game really well balanced for the most part. and update could really re-invigorate interest i think!
idea for a roguelike tower defence. You control a singe tower from the inside of the tower. You and other players manage the inside of the tower. Such as moving it, loading ammo, and researching new items and ammos. The tower shoots automatically, so players have to focus on loading the right ammos, repairs, and positioning the tower well.
Killing enemies will cause them to drop materials which can be picked up by the tower. You can use the materials to research and manufacture temporary boons.
Successfully defending kingdoms will net money which can be used to upgrade the tower's base systems. Such as speed, armor, ammo capacity.
Think tower defences combined with Barotrauma and We Need To Go Deeper.
Sounds like No Heroes Here, but roguelike.
Honestly, I've been trying to find a good tower defense with a fantasy theme for a long time. The genre gets a lot of flak because it's quality ratio is poor, but this seems like it's gonna be amazing. Definitely buying on release.
I like how you immediately read/observe/experiment to understand each new element in the game so that you can play entertainingly from the very beginning.
The second the unlock tree opened up I was all in
First time I see a roguelike tower defense like this. I adore this!!!
Initially mortars were shooting at the foremost enemies. By the time the projectile reached them, they were already dead. So without the aiming tweaks they were pretty much useless.
I love what you do man, bringing these games to our attention. I told the wife about this and sent her the link to watch since this looks right up her alley. I had to stop watching though. I was watching you ignore the target priority and letting them all go like that had me muttering loud enough to wake someone. I might have to grab this one myself to check it out as well.
He notices that after not too long it was bothering me too but it gets better have faith in the guy lol.
This is brilliant. I've always loved tower defense but was always bummed how quick it would end, or that I'd lose progress.
Combining it with this card/upgrade system thats roguelite-progressive is exactly what i wanted.
This game has a lot of potential, especially for all the slowwing shenanigans.
Can´t wait for more gameplay of this!
i do like the concept of this one being able to build up again after getting a bad run would feel pretty good.
Would love more, thank you!
This looks really cool! I think since the game already has such an expansive tech tree, and the option for a lot of towers in different locations with certain towers being more upgraded than others, it'd be a real nice quality of life feature to have something akin to control groups in Starcraft. Having the ability to highlight and jump to your "key" towers, especially when the map gets larger, would be really useful for keeping track of everything!
Moar, also hover over the terrain stuff longer when you see new ones so we can see it like the houses giving gold when you have towers near them.
interesting that the ballistae will shoot through hills and the like. height elevation is jsut a bonus, there is no terrain blocking shots
I think one of the Main points of this game is, you can theoretically specialize your Towers, to shoot different targets. Mortars for example are great for AoE damage and also against slow, armoured targets, such as battering rams. Ballistas are much cheaper and better against health. Mana is necessary for special Towers, especially those that apply dots, such as Flame throwers, Ice Towers and so on. Towers in the back should fire on targets close to death. Also, watch out for map details, such as the huts. They pay you if you place Towers adjacent to them. But not on the diagonal spots, only on the direct neighbors. Buildings, such as mines mana syphons aren't counting towards those protection damage.
And there is a building which uses mana to tax the dead of the graves nearby.
well looks like ive found myself a new addiction
worth a sub 100%
great wholesome content
this looks great!
Can't wait to see more of this!
I’m a big fan of this! Will get it tomorrow. Thanks
releases in 12 days.
Agreed. Will get it on release.
ok this game looked good. and i was like.. ehh maybe i will pick it up. then i saw the progression system and now i REALLY want this
Was just introduced to this game from AngoryTom, and immediately went to watch more from you cuz i knew you'd be playing it too.
Just found the game myself, I did all the exact same assumptions. After I took some time and started getting a feel for how it actually works, it's became so addictive
Love the video man thanks!
Quite an interesting game! New sub for me, really like the way you comment and play.
I am getting this. Looks like it's going to scratch my td itch nicely 😁
If you've never played it, there's a really fun game called perfect tower that has a single tower to fight monsters with (though everything is cubes)
this video was amazing ddefinetly made me want to get the game. 20$ cad is a pretty steep price but i would say worth cant wait to play it
Can't wait till it's released!
playing this for from past 2 hours
Oh, this game looks slick. Truth be told, I was a little disappointed with Archipelago. It was fun for only $5, but I was seeing repeat islands a lot more than I thought I would and it feels like your early units are all you really need to win. It was a lot more shallow than I was hoping it would be. This, however, does look like a blast with the randomized path expansion and the random draw system of available towers, resources, and upgrades, really capturing that "no two runs are alike" feel that makes rogue-likes so appealing.
MORE OF THIS GAME PLZ
Ahhhrg that title font it hurts my graphics designer sensibilities. Game looks fun tho.
Just looking at it I would make it so every 10 levels you are guaranteed the option to choose one tower. Its pretty clear this game can screw you out of even the possibility of doing anything because of that so pretty much you restart at level 10 if you dont have at least 3 towers by then as to not waste time.
Its only kinda bad until you improve your upgrade frequency. After that point RNG is way less problematic.
Place the towers on the hills for extra damage, especially for the mortars, not that they get more damage than the ballistas from it, but still.
It goes to the base damage multiple, so ballistas get a higher effect compared to base than mortars, but it’s an equal booster.
More please. Thanks
Holy tech tree Batman!
that's the most Unity UI I've seen for a while... :D
I've been playing this game and it's awesome.
Wait till you get a map that wrapsnin on itself. It gets hilarious fun.
I want to play this so bad!!!
Tbh like not allot off games like this I'm gonna enjoy this in 5 days
Love this game!
I find clumps of like, 4 long range slow-shooting tower, (cough cough mortars) are op
might pick this game up depending on the price.
Hi wander I like this ROUGE gameplay! hehe I'm back remember me from Lost In Random
Watched reto play this a bit ago, never before have I seen such backseat, it was wild
Haunted House sounds great. There's a tax for being dead...Pay up.
Comes out tomorrow...seems like a good time
This tower defense is underrated! Very cool
How can it be under rated when it isn't out yet..?
@@Inksplat776
... because it has received so little attention so far ..
Cool game
i can already hear people saying MORE MOOOOOORRREEEEEEE
Man too bad this game isn't out yet, it looks cool but I'm likely to forget about it by the time it releases.
Not if I keep making videos on it. :P
It's nice to see a CZcamsr actually do well work this game the first time they played for some reason nobody places more then like 3 towers and die on round 7 or whatever.
music sounds a lot like orc must die to me
Ack, 14m in and not looping the path back so your mortars get to double dip. Hope ya realize it 2nd run. :D
Wanna question if the game is like a infinite rounds but the map always change.
Round 45 is the final round
this game looked good.
I wanted to say something, and I don't want you to take this the wrong way Wander. I just think it would be something to discuss.
This game doesn't release for another 12 days. I wonder if by releasing a video of it so far from the dropdate you might be hurting it? I want this game. So the first thing I did was go to steam. I find out I can't get it for another 12 days. But on the internet that is a long time. There is a chance that many like me will simply forget about the game. Yes I know things like alerts and more videos from you is a thing. I'm just curious to your thoughts about this.
It's a big mix, and normally I don't cover games this far out apart from demos- but in this case I knew I'd end up making videos on this game for at least a week or two, so I doubt most folks will forget about it.
Ideally one-off coverage should go up a few days before launch, at launch, or within launch week for maximum effect, but a longer 'series' can usually build momentum instead. If the game is good enough to warrant it at least.
Series plz
So how do I find this?
I wish I could flipping buy it, but I gotta wait 'til Feb 2nd. :'[
Can't stop playing this game I'm just playing for the first time.
this looks and feels a lot like a more polished version of infinitode
mobile game, not really exciting content but fun to play as a side
neat
the ui scaling needs a lot of work but this game has some real solid foundations and i cant wait to play it myself
this is a really good game i just wish that it was free
Please tell me he goes for gold and mana perks first
I want more of this. I saw someone play like 5 runs and each he died in first 12 waves.
You picked up the mechanics well I think. Good video.
:')
How do you have half a million subs and only 102 comments?
was this your first run?
Yup
What defines “rogue like”?
looks interesting, but the ui is very badly planned ngl
i found more fun and fast vampire survivors
And now I wishlisted this...stop playing these awesome games, I only have some much time in a day
