You can choose to quit after crushing Connie’s hopes and dreams? “I wish you’d never been born.....So I’m quitting the BM” Connie: Kweh? Vanilla: Oh by the way I just bombed Happy Garland, anyway bye, I gotta contact my dad so he can swoop in and capitalize on the destruction Connie: Wait........who’s your dad? Vanilla: I never told you about my father did I........I’m the son of an evil villain, the man who will unite the world in trotmobiles and eggs alike, Dr. E. Robotnik aka Dr. Eggman Connie: No.........that can’t be.....THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!! Vanilla: Search your feelings, you know it to be true......
Wow, the other endings are even more rushed than the true hero one. You'd think the route that lets you see evil Savory and Dandelion outside of battle would flesh them out a little more, but nope. I can only assume that defecting from the Bloody Mantis before boarding the Grand Finale leads to a slightly altered version of the hero route endgame that probably doesn't include Savory or Dandelion.
I forgot too say last time, but I actually really like the design of the bloody mantis logo, the scythes for the mantis claws are just clever, also when you said Vanilla is shorter then every other trope, I thought of the scene in spaceballs were Dark Helmet is walking past a line of tropes.
You know, you would expect Connie's reaction to Vanilla saying he wishes she was never born would be to burst into tears or give an angry, emotional outburst over him treating her like crap the whole game, (basically act mad like she was with Mallow,) but instead her response might as well be her calling him a big meanie, as if he did something minorly petty. Also, does anything different happen if you lose to Savory or Elder in the leadership battle, (like having the "Slave" ending play out,) or do you just lose and have to try again? One last thing, after seeing the alternate endings and seeing Savory act so ruthless and dominating towards Vanilla, (I imagine she was the reason why he doesn't wear any shoes), I now don't feel bad at all for her getting shot in the true ending, she has no right to ask for forgiveness on Dandelion's behalf, and certainly doesn't deserve any of it herself.
To be fair... in that walking animation, Vanilla looked like he was chained to Savory... if he really is... then he looks like a pet, and then it makes a lot of sense!
I'm guessing "That's on a need-to-know basis" is the game's way of saying "The writers didn't think anyone would actually go this far down the evil route, and we didn't really have any good ideas for why you are abducting Connie, and we don't want to spoil who Elder is on this route."
They tried, at least, to give this game alternate endings based on your choices. That's quite something for a JRPG. Perhaps with more time and budget they could have fully realized their vision. Or in a sequel...ah well.
Oh wow I just realized. That guy was in Cuckoo forest and he was a twist villain, so that makes it “foreshadowing” because he really was cuckoo indeed.......that is how that works right
It's a real damn shame that the endings just fall so flat. I just kinda expected a little more from the evil endings, even after seeing and knowing that the good ending just felt rushed because of how abruptly it ended. For a game from 2005, it had potential but lost it right at the end, which is honestly really sad. Glad I got to watch this all the way through though from what you've shown, but still, what a damn shame
Looks like they had a lot of ambition and didn’t know when to stop, and the execs had to tell them, “Uh, we DO need this game to come out before everyone moves to the PS3!”
Holy Shit, and here I thought I was the only one left in the world who remember Xiaolin Showdown. Jack: Vanilla gets a country for his birthday… all THIS boy genius gets is a lousy old puzzle box… it’s not faaaaaaaiiiiiiirrr!!!!!!! 😭
@@RedKing12000 And in the end, Eggman profits the most from both, while at the same time feeling pride when one of them succeeds, only overshadowed when he realizes he’s losing out on their glories And let’s not even get started on his daughters.........
While the execution was lacking, I at least applaud the developers for trying multiple endings in the first place. Game development _can_ be pretty hellish, and considering how this was Irem's most ambitious project by far, it's very easy to see how they could've underestimated the time and budget required for fully fleshing out the endings. EDIT: Instead of See You Later, I imagine Angel's Thanatos from Silent Hill 2 would make for a way better song for the evil endings' credits.
LOL, I love the ending where you're just a narcissistic type of villain and don't care about taking orders from anyone and want to be in charge instead. XD
The change in Vanilla's tone when choosing to crush Connie's hoprs and dreams though. xD Vanilla: (stern tone) I wish you'd never been born. Also Vanilla: (enthusiastic tone) So, I'm not quitting.
8:15 “One thing you might have noticed is…” that it was not Comfrey’s voice actor there, it was ACTUALLY Clement the whole time with a spot-on impression. Little-known development secret of Steambot Chronicles, trust me bro he was in the studio
Damn these endings. Despite them being rushed None are any better than the hero ending. I think the hero ending with flaws and all seems to be the better ending as it tries to answer many of the story questions. But still this was interesting to see how this side of the story ends.
For Shits and Giggles, the ending song for the Bloody Mantis endings should've been having to endure Fennel's song again. Also, Wow, not only can you be a true dickbag, the alternate endings feel more rushed than the true good ending, which already felt a little rushed to begin with. At least the true ending had a bit of a fleshed out climax in regards to setting up the final bosses and who the true leaders of the Bloody Mantis were and their motives.
Yeah, I'm kinda disappointed by the rushed alternate endings, too. They should have just stuck with the good and fascist takeover endings. I'm wondering if anything changes if you tried to seduce Savory or Captain Ciboulette instead of Connie, though.
There's a change: Vanilla gets a letter from Savory in the after game, if she doesn't die and if he never discover her secret identity as Sarriette. It's all I know so far.
Kinda wonder what happens when you romance Connie on the dickbag path or Savory on the goodboi path. Well, I can imagine how that goes with Savory, but what I'm really curious about is what if you tell Connie you love her in that cell?
The rank system in bloody mantis is pointless, even being a high ranking officer gets send out on a mission, and general taking orders from comfrey? That doesn’t make sense
“I want the old Vanilla back”, she just said that you’ve never been nice !
fourth wall break? XD

Jesus Christ. I only played through the good route, but MAN these evil choices are wild lmao

Holy crap the evil ending go hard as hell I kind of love it

Dr. Eggman Robotnik: *sniff* that’s my boy........Jack Spicer why can’t you be like your step brother Vanilla the Egg
Jack Spicer is Dr. Eggman's son? Suddenly everything about him makes sense.

Nice new channel banner lol! 👍🏻
Should have Savory simping for you when you take over, that’s a shame

Bout to get emotional all over again!!!
Wow They really went there with the evil endings..... geez
Savory beat Vanilla out of his boots.
Its been an honor Clement!
Wow what an ending
right so what would want in a proper Steambot Chronicles sequel
I know for sure that if megaman legends 3 gets released Clement would be all over it doing a let’s play
I figured a new Scott pilgrim vs the world
Clement said he won't be making exceptions as far as Sonic or Mega Man is concerned.
Ha, Dandelion has made Vanilla a duck
Vanilla’s off to build the glorious “Vanillaland” !
15:00 I’m worried about the carpeting.
Well the evil ending was underwhelming.

Here especially it’s a shame they don’t show the extent of the bombing
Wait, that's it? That's how it ends!?
What happens if you decide not to drop the bomb? Do you get the same redemption ending?
He drops the bomb anyway, Comfrey just tells to Vanilla it's not time to be emo.
The rank system in bloody mantis is pointless, even being a high ranking officer gets send out on a mission, and general taking orders from comfrey? That doesn’t make sense
Napoleon wasn't actually that short.
Is it weird that I prefer the evil playthrough? 😶🥴
