If you have the votes to empower him, then elect him full Speaker. And if you want to kick him out in a month or three or whatever, do it then. But saying "we can't elect a Speaker so we're gonna elect a fake Speaker" has to be one of the all time stupidest ideas I've ever seen out of Congress, and that's saying something. Do the damn job.

Yeah, but congress is what does the fundamental stuff that keeps all branches running smoothly, or smooth-ish anyway. The Supreme Court doesn’t pass legislation, it just hears challenges to laws passed through legislation, and determines their constitutionality, and therefore whether they can remain law. The president only has control over functions that are the responsibility of the executive branch, and provides/rejects the final seal of approval on legislation that Congress passes.
Congress is arguably the most consequential branch of government. For better or worse.
