Guys! It is legit. I have tried and tested it. It really made my day. When i put those bacon cotton on it plus the plastic bag trick by zippo fanatic, it made my fluid last 3 weeks plus 3 days to be exact. Oh by the way im residing here in philippines. Tropical country

Yup! It works! Biggest problem I had was finding Cotton Bacon, down here in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. I was going to just order it online, at between $4.95 - $6.95/pack, but hoped to get it in a vape shop. Few people are making their own coils these days, so nobody's carrying it. Then I found a shop that had some on clearance, for $2/pack! Good to go. I did everything, and my old lighter also had a burnt end on the wick. Did this trick, turning it upside down, and replaced the batting. Fantastic! Zippo changed to Rayon, probably around 30 years ago, and when I carried the lighter in my shirt pocket, I noticed I was getting fluid leaks. Quit using the lighter, went to BIC, which now only works until halfway down on fluid, then quits. Back to the Zippo after all these years. I was going to just deal with the leaking fluid, until I saw this. Even THAT problem is now fixed! Thank you very much for the solution, and now I can use my old Zippo again.
Which shop did you find it at? I started looking for some today in Raleigh but haven’t seen it yet..
@@1581zebra I lucked out. I'm south of Raleigh, near Tryon Rd and Walnut, and there's an Asian Market in a small shopping mall on Buck Jones Rd. When I come out of the parking lot, there's a Vape shop across the street. I stopped in, and asked if they had cotton bacon. The guy said he wasn't sure, but as I looked around, I found a number of packages in a "close-out" bin. I pointed it out, and that the price was $2/package, so he said okay. I bought about five packages and mostly cleaned them out. Since then, I've never seen it at any of the smoke shops I use. I'd recommend trying to find it online, and while it may seem pricey, you really don't need much at all. I'm still working on the first package, and I've changed out the batting in four Zippos. It's easy to do, and produces a major improvement in the amount of fluid and how long that fluid lasts.

@@1581zebra No, this is up off Buck Jones across from the NC Dept of Vehicles, where you get plates. It's a small vape shop. Either way, calling around is your best bet -- I've checked almost all the smoke shops here, but not the dedicated vape shops. Cotton bacon I think was developed for dripping, which has fallen out of favor as vaping has kind of also gotten less popular. Good luck online, and as I'd said, it really doesn't take much to fill a Zippo. Even one package will last a long time. I don't change the batting much, despite Zippo Fan suggesting we do so. :-) The lighter works really well, even with limited maintenance. The cotton bacon idea was to go back to the old days, when a Zippo would easily go a week or more before needing fluid. And it works!

Dad would go to California and back with his whole family working on farms during planting to harvest time, one of the things they did was pick cotton. He mentioned short and long strand cotton. Long strand was a superior cotton. I suspect that Cotton Bacon is the long strand.

Hi, I don't have cotton bacon prime, but I used Native platinum blend, which is a very white and very absorbent organic cotton. I used it for vaping, and it was very performing. Now I've marked the date, to see how long it lasts.
I have a ton of this cotton because I vape, and yeah, sure is working much better.

I gotta hand it to you, this cotton absorbs crazy volume. I just gutted and stuffed my most prized zipp as per your instruction. Working great. Just like on your vid. I'm gonna do the same with all my sentimental zippos. I know you recommend changing the cotton every six months. However, this is the 1st time changing the cotton in my favorite zipp that I've had for over 20 years, and its probably gonna be the last. Why mess with a good thing? The factory wick was all funky like in your vid.

Epic , my organic cotton is on its way , even regular non organic cotton holds more fluid too , but from what I understand organic vape cotton is even more so than that .

Hey zippo man, this isnt related to the video but,
In one of my zippos, I was changing out the flit, and the small little piece of the flint while I was taking it out flipped and got stuck inside of the little flint pipe. Right in the middle of it. Other than just bashing it apart for an hour, do you have any recommendations of getting it out?

I was thinking about using "Kendo Vape Cotton, Gold Edition" it might absorb even more fluid
nicholas, i'm not smoke anymore i'm vaping now. but still collecting zippo. trust me, kendo has different texture than bacon. it's a fiber cotton or something not as absorbant as cotton bacon.

This may sound funny. However Walgreens ibuprofen has cotton on the top looks and feels like cotton bacon. Probably is not as good but if you can’t find cotton bacon or a way to save a couple of bucks I bet this would work.

Hey, should you always pack the cotton as much as possible? I got my first zippo a few weeks back, it held the fluid for almost two weeks with the plastic bag trick, and when I was packing the original rayon balls, it seemed like you could fit almost twice as many in there

Thanks a lot :) i have one zippo that I carry around all the time, so taping it off would rid of the experience of using a zippo haha. Zippo's are awesome, only bad thing is that I'm from Europe and all Zippo's here are really expensive, even used ones (the most basic go for around 15€), not to mention the new ones, especially with a nicer design - those go for around 60€, which is like 70€. Are the prices in USA just as high?

How does the Coleman white fuel burn in a zippo. Does it smell much different? If I am thinking right, the Coleman fuel doesn’t contain naphtha
@@klatonpowell I would actually say it burns slightly with less smell. I love the zippo smell though. You can also get Naptha at home Depot.

when the lighter is open longer and lit does the flame decrease? This happened with medical cotton wool even if the lighter was full. Thanks
@@ZippoFanatic77 I used ordinary medical cotton wool 100% from the store of 1 e 50gr, it happened to me when I light a lighter after 5 to 10 seconds the flame decreases, so I wonder if the same thing happens with cotton bacon prime because I intend to buy? Thanks zippo brother :-)

Its a know fact that lambswool is able to absorb more moisture than cotton. Once wet it also take longer to dry. Maybe wool is even better than cotton?

@@ZippoFanatic77 Maybe at first just put a piece of wool with fuel in a jar to see how it react. If the fuel dont dissolve the wool it should work. Maybe I will try it myself. I just need to get an old piece of wool.

just wondering about something, ya say that the cotton is made in japan, yet on the back of the `cotton bacon' package, it has `made in the u.s.a.' . which is it ? either it's from japan or the u.s.a.
Cotton Bacon is not Japanese cotton, I think we was confused. It is processed and packaged in the US.
Faster absorption doesn’t mean more capacity. I’ll try it out but I’m not quite convinced. Maybe you stuffed more cotton in the new one compared the old one. Like I said I’ll give it a try.

I tried it and instead of three days the fuel lasted four. Not exactly the result I was hoping for. Maybe I didn’t have it packed tight enough so I have stuffed some more in there. Or maybe I over packed it I don’t know.

I've bought some cotton bacon from amazon for less than £5 with delivery and it arrived yesterday. Filled my zippo with it today so will see how long it lasts compared to the rayon that the zippo came with? I usually get 6 to 7 day's anyway but if it lasts longer then its a bonus! If not then I've not really lost much coz it was only £5 and I used hardly anything so got loads left
As I'm a heavy smoker the bag trick would become annoying if I was taking it out 20 times a day. Tbh I'm happy if the cotton bacon just makes it last a day or two more, in a survival situation a extra day's worth of fuel can be a life saver, not that that particularly applies to me 😂
Well initial findings aren't good unfortunately. I filled to full on Monday and now is Thursday and it's run dry, this is a lot less than when I was using rayon. Not sure if I've done something wrong or it's a case of working in? But I've filled again and will see if it's better this time around?
