- Literally went back in my run to an earlier save before the goblin camp just to get this lmao. I think he was already triggered to proposition, & I think some of the approval you can get during the goblin camp quest helped trigger this (for me during this certain run anyway lol).

Oh don't worry! You can get that dialogue before the Tiefling party, and then you get alternate dialogue from him at the party (one of his pickup lines becomes him talking about how much he loved hearing you moan his name).
I also like if you say “a less trusting person might find all this very suspicious” - his answer is a scream and doesn’t preclude spending the night with him either. “It’s just as well we’re all such good trusting friends then. On my honour: the only thing on my mind is depraved carnal lust.” 😂
When you know his history and how he brought new people to Cazador... this scene takes on new colors.

@@ANPC-pi9vu My Tiefling Durge is literally named Paranoia for what that's worth, so it was hilarious when Raphael accused her of being paranoid. She also has an appropriately high Wisdom stat to go with the name, which has lead to some interesting Astarion interactions since I'm trying to play her as in character as possible

You can actually call him on using lines a lot and liken them to what he used to gather victim for Cazador directly. Its very powerful when you get to the end of his personal quest and you can tell him directly that he would have led you there to the dungeons if you'd met earlier than you did. You can even make him face that and admit that he'd have killed you. He seems extremely distressed by the idea but will admit it.

The best things will never be mine. I bought the house, I got the worst room - and only that room I was allowed to put my things in. I could not even use the fridge to put things in because it was taking up space. So, when I heard he was a brat at home, I get it too much.

you can get the "just thinking about you / you liked it" etc proposition before the tiefling party as well if your approval is high enough. i have to try to actively avoid it on most runs, because I prefer to make him say please, which you don't get if you've already slept together.
You can turn him down before the campfire party, actually. If your approval is high enough by the time of the party, he will still proposition you and you can get him to say please. ;)
It's kinda sad in retrospect, ngl.

It's so funny when later he says that he seduced you because it was what you wanted and he wanted your protection, when in reality he was practically begging for a ride
He's manipulating you into "a tactical alliance." And he's doing so with the best way he knows how, through sex, as that's what he was made to do to lure victims to Cazador. He doesn't enjoy sex, at least not at this point. Sex to him is traumatizing, but he's learning to heal from that. During this particular sex scene there's even a line about how Astarion didn't finish, but he claims it's because he didn't want to go too far. Hypersexuality is a trauma response.

Astarion proceeded to send this second invitation to my Tav in a middle of an exploration, with Wyll (romanced...) behind her. Like, dude... Now?! Seriously?! XD it was awkwardly fun.
i got the "next morning proposition" soon after the bite because i got his approval pretty high before the tiefling party ever happened, this seems like really interesting timing
It was set to trigger that night, but the tiefling party overrode it I think 🤔
So if you get the proposition dialogue before the tiefling party, and turn him down both times, there's no morning after proposition I'm assuming?

@Vampiramisu Although, and I'm not sure about this quite yet, I think you can be presented with a third chance. I know when I declined one and accepted the other one, in the underdark during one night before a long rest, he gave the third proposition. The one where he says the real corny lines & i love you lol. If you're able to get this one but reject the other two I'm unaware of how (as of right now anyway).

I got the scenes in reverse, where the first time he tried propositioning me and I said "I'd rather kiss a leech" to play hard to get, he was clearly impressed because at the party he was like imma try again!

Got the sex scene before the Tiefling party. He did ask to come see him that night, but my Tav just wanted to sleep. So, instead of Tav, Lae'zel took pity on him lol

10 playthroughs and all I've romanced is Lae'zel 1 time, Gale 1 time, Minthara 2 times and my boy yes the rest.
When I played , I didn’t get that scene at the party. He wasn’t drinking wine or complaining about saving the tieflings, he straight up just started asking for sex, doing all those pick up lines. Is there a specific choice you have to do to get the wine sex proposal ? I was a paladin seladine drow and until then was doing mostly good guy stuff.
It has to be the first time he propositions you. If you’ve already slept with him you get the pick up line scene.
Did you already have his first romance scene? (The one in the woods.) His romance at the party changes to the new pickup line version (or depending on your dialogue choices, he mentions the previous night with you) if you’ve already had the scene.

You can get his private invitation before the Tiefling party, the party is just one of the later trigger where it can happen (when it didn't happen before). And he is still manipulating the player character. Mirroring what they answer him. In simple words: using you.

In order to lock in a run where I romance Karlach and Astarion, I had to get his romance all the way to high so he approached me about a hookup before the party, and then at the party Karlach’s approval was Very High and I chose her for that night (not that you actually have sex that night due to her only having one upgrade and even kissing only possible for a bit due to sparks, even in water), and told him another time, which he was happy with

I got that proposition waaay before the party. It's related to how high his approval of your tav or durge is, not by turning him down specifically. It can trigger any time once he likes you enough.
Wait, you can get propositioned by Astarion AFTER the party? I thought the party was the last ocasion to start the romance

Scenes can stack up, when you don't long rest - some have priority. Especially when you don't long rest too often. I usually throw in some long rests with partial rests combined, so I can clear up the stack up.
You can get this scene without turning him down at the camp. I did both.
He said "Hello, Beautiful" yesterday and I haven't recovered. Plz call 911.
Oh I had the party last night and refused him (or well said i'll think about it) and that morning convo didn't happen.
I think I happened to get very lucky with this one lol 😅 i think it was already triggered to happen but the tiefling party just came first. And apparently he didn't mind that I refused (somehow?) Lol

Im on my 3RD playthrough and idk what Im doing wrong but got denied 3 times from Astarion 🤣😭
Probably not your fault, one of the hotfixes tuned down the horniness (unfortunately 😅). I had neutral approval from him and he turned me down at the party, saying: “Sex, my dear. A night of passion. Not with you, just to be clear. I mean, can you imagine? Ugh. No.” My ego still hurts 😅😅😅

I keep seeing these options and I'm here sitting on my night with Shadowheart because me and Astarion don't vibe and he still hates my guts up in the forge part (my choices aren't his taste)...
Btw, you can actually get steamy with him even on low approval. All you have to do is pick the last option ("knowing you it probably is") and he'll ask to get frisky. You even get an option to make him say "Please" which I really enjoyed. Gotta put the brat in his place. I still chose Shadowheart, even though I'd have preferred if she didn't get offended at me not kissing her. I just wanted to get wasted with a friend
