V10 gasoline engine in a truck , o yeah living the dream, only in USA .
What is amazing? ford excursion V10 too pff
Kra fstoff bah alter
And canada lmao
@@yusrajamshed614 Well from my point of view, the other side of the Globe same difference.
Don’t forget the Econoline E-450 too
I love that engine very smooth and has plenty of power on highways
Nobody going to try to road rage you in this tank lol
Nope!
I wish that were true lol. I'm a truck driver with a 34,000lb (empty) tractor-trailer commercial vehicle and literally everyone road rages me everywhere I go.
you'd be surprised.
@@crazyjdkid that big Ford uhaul is going too fast
Well done review and if you rented Uhaul in December 2007-January 2008 you would have gotten a GMC C6500 Chevy Kodiak with a Big Block Gas engine that will share the same flaws like this one being underpowered and struggle if heavily loaded in Mountainous terrain like Central Pennsylvania I-80 & I-76. Still going to lose out to a diesel-powered version from either Penske or Budget Truck rental because the diesel version has more Torque something that truck needs to carry heavy loads.
I know it's an old video, but these drive better with a light or no load than diesels. Quieter, smoother and the extra top end hp/faster revving makes them feel peppy. We had a rental F650 V10 for our interior door/trim truck so most of the time it was lightweight loads and it drove great.
Diesel obviously does better with heavier loads, hills and for mpg but it's worth getting a gas engine for a light load truck.
Lastly, don't know what more recent reviews you've done but right now our 26' straight trucks have either the Cummins B6.7 (6.7L straight 6) or the Detroit DD5 (5.1L 4cyl, an updated Mercedes truck engine, wanna say the OM934). That DD5 is a very loud, rattling, knocking-sounding engine that doesn't have quite the pull the Cummins has.
I have a 2010 Ford E450 motor home with the v10. its 29 feet long and It has the power to make it up hills in my opinion. I do have to have the pedal all the to the floor when pulling a hill. I like it. It's not for speed.
I mean yeah an rv was never meant for speed lmao
I always mistaken the 6.8L Triton on the E-450 as a giant 4 cylinder engine XD
I had one of these plus the 6x12 they had. And it pulled it 200 miles up north fully loaded.
That’s going to be me this Sunday. I rented the 26’ with the V10 plus an enclosed 6x12 cargo trailer. Going 550 miles round trip from Mohave county Arizona to Orange County California and back. I’m very interested to see how it will do loaded over the passes though I’m sure I already know how it will do.
I’m looking at it to buy for my short distance moving business. Is it good buy the v10 engine or should I pass ? Thank You
Fuel mileage on tow/haul is like 7 to 9. Lucky to get it up to 11
That truck sounds good and its quiet.
What size u-haul? We had a 27ft fully loaded and pulling a car, empty it wasnt "quick" but even fully loaded, it drove the exact same as it was empty, it was weird...maybe it's the gearing?
This was a 26ft.
beautiful
Ey how many miles per gallon give it?
It would be nice if Ford offers a Caterpillar engine
Hola soy Agustín pregunto precio cuando vale camioneta nececito uno mecotize enganche cada mes
Future the new ford F-1000 will be so huge it will need a parachute and gaffing hook to get in and out of the truck or for a few hundred dollars more you can get the retractable escalator.
Can you do 8 passengers
I will never rent a U-haul. There's been a couple that have broken down on me and it took forever to get U-haul out to get a replacement truck out and have a couple guys from Uhaul to transfer from the broken truck to the replacement. A friend of mine rented a 15ft Uhaul and the drive shaft broke on him. He ended up renting from Penske and sued Uhaul after they jacked him around.
Stephenie Grenoble Their maintenance definitely leaves more to be desired! They let their fleet get quite old and high mileage before they replace them. Which leads to more breakdowns compared to their competitors. Sometimes you get lucky and get a new truck other times it might be one with 250k and bald tires. You never know! Thanks for watching!
Stephenie Grenoble Yeah the only time I rented from Uhaul was back in 2012 right when they came out with their 20 foot truck. The truck only had 18,000 miles on it.
That ain't bad! They use to have stick shift diesel lnternationals a while ago with the 7.3L. Times have changed though. I really like their trailers though!
F 650 , f 750 , international durastar has the same frame and steering components
Still seems faster than the International you rented back in 2016!
Definitely faster than the MFDT International empty! Loaded the MFDT would probably be faster. The Cummins International is probably a tad faster, but just by a hair. Thanks for watching!
@@crazyjdkid we have these engines in some of the new Blue Birds . Empty its definitely faster then the 200 hp Cummins version . Loaded the V10 slows down a lot more then Cummins but is still faster . V10 has to be running 3-4 k rpms to make power
@@abram7117 Yeah empty it does pretty good! The 220hp Cummins is about equal to this empty. Once loaded though the Cummins is by far the better puller. When driving the V10 it feels as though it doesn't have any reserve power. Which it doesn't, it is all horsepower and no torque. With the Cummins I can force it to downshift and it will lug and really pull up a hill. The V10 when it downshifts it just gets louder and louder but doesn't give a strong pull, to overtake another truck for example. You feel very vulnerable. I'd be interested in trying an 8.8L PSI to see how it compares, apparently it has a much better and lower torque curve.
@@crazyjdkid it's definitely a weird experience . When the bus is empty I like the V10 because of the horsepower but on hills with a full load, it is a pita because you know you unless it's spinning at least 3,000 rpms it's lifeless. Gearing is horrible. They have 5.29 rear like the diesels. I'm guessing the one you drove probably had something similar. We also have the 8.8 and it's a total 360. From a stop it will shove you in the seat, it's a torque monster. It has 100 lbs torque more and at half the rpms of the V10. .
@@abram7117 I have no idea what the rear axle on this is as Ford doesn't specifically say it as most manufacturers do. I know its a 5B axle that's about it! I would gamble that this truck is possibly geared more for highway use then a bus, so it would have even worse acceleration. I think at this point I would still just rather have a diesel, instead of manufacturers trying to mimic a diesel with a gas engine.
That thing uses the same Cab as the Super Duty Pickups.
Yeah it does! Its honestly a very small cab for its class, I liked the seats and that's about it! Thanks for watching!
crazyjdkid I think it makes the truck look weird too. Tiny cab but huge hood.
Yeah it does, very disproportionate!
Not exactly the same cab, I have a 2016 f250 and the doors have storage compartments which this one doesn’t and also the radio is different, but everything else is pretty much the exact same
As in the same cab structure! The metal part of the cab is the same across all the F series. There are some minor differences between the interiors as expected. This being a cheap commercial fleet vehicle it would have whatever is stock and cheapest from the factory. As always, thanks for watching!
Are the cab size the same as the f250 ?
Yes, its the same cab
What about the hard ride, no air suspension. I just got a 2018 for work the hard bounce is destroying my back.
If you buy a 3/4 ton truck and heavier or larger and you are not loading it down with either a bunch of cargo in the back of the bed or towing a trailer all the time, then you are never going to get a good ride out of the truck. These heavier trucks are meant to be towing a trailer or Towing Cargo in the back of their bed every day and that is how they engineered the trucks for the amount of suspension they need as well as other components. They're not meant to be just driven around as a daily driver without anything in the bed or no trailer behind them. I would suspect that if you are complaining about the harsh ride, then you are more than likely not towing a trailer or you don't have any Cargo in the bed. In which case, you should have never purchased a pickup because it was pointless. Just my guess. As far as air ride, air ride is not necessary for most pickups if they are loaded down and being used for what they are intended to be used for. Again, put a trailer behind it or put 1,500 to 2000 lb of cargo in the bed and you will notice a greatly improved difference in ride quality.
Hey can u find a hino truck and test drive it
I have a 268A in the works my friend! Give me just a few me weeks as I have to arrange some things! But I think you will be pleased!
crazyjdkid. I will
It's be nice if they put the 6.7 but Uhaul will never put a diesel in their trucks.
They need to put that new 7.3 gas engine they got out now
@@RoubidouxCreekOutdoors U-Haul did put the new 7.3 L gas engine in their trucks and I have driven one with it in it. I'm not sure exactly when they put the 7.3 L gasoline engines in but I would guess they started either in 2021 or 2022. Either way, they had the 6-speed automatic transmission mated with the engine. I drove the 22 ft version with the auto transport and a smaller SUV on it. I have also driven the largest 26 version with the three valve V10 that was also Towing the auto transport with a little bit bigger 2002 Chevy Trailblazer suv. Honestly, the V10 had just as much power as the 7.3 L in my opinion and it got just as good a fuel mileage. I wouldn't put my money into buying a 7.3 L if I was to buy a pickup but I wouldn't have a problem driving it if I was renting a u-haul. They both performed very well up and down mountains with plenty of cargo in the back. I think the 26 ft version with the three valve V10 had more cargo because obviously it was bigger but I think it was also loaded down a little bit more overall with more stuff packed in the back of the truck compared to the 22 ft version with the 7.3 L gasoline engine I drove. The 22 ft version was loaded but not quite as much I don't think. Anyway, they are both fine and did drive very well but they both got pretty much the same fuel mileage.
Just did a 950 miles run from Hotsprings, AK to El Paso, Texas fully loaded (24,500 lbs) on a 2017 F650 UHAUL. It drives much better than a Penske or Budget diesel truck... Extremely quiet, drives and feels like a F250. Maintain 75 miles even on hills. Definitely I would buy a F650 gas over a noisy diesel. GREAT TRUCK DRIVES super smooth... ULTRA QUIET
How many gallons did you spend on that trip ? I’m looking at it to buy for my moving business but short distance no more than 300 miles drive, 95% of my jobs are 10 to 50 miles away . Thank You 🙏🏻 😊
@@JB-tk2ly This is the truck to buy for short distances 9-10 MPG. Drives super easy and it's relative quiet to any diesel box truck...
@@albertosalazar4006 thank you
If your not too comfortable driving trucks then don’t even think about renting a Penske truck. For example if you rent a 26 foot Penske and a 26 foot Uhaul truck you’ll see the huge difference, Penske is so much harder to drive and drive because you sit so high and it just overall feels like your driving a semi truck. If you want a normal drive with no stress and etc go for Uhaul, people do complain Uhaul trucks are older but honestly they are a lot easier to drive compared to many other trucks like Penske, enterprise or even budget.
Check out my channel, I have rented from all brands!
@@crazyjdkid I subscribed nice content mate. Just curious do you personally think Penske 26 footers are harder to drive than Uhaul?
I prefer the Penske trucks. Although if someone has not previously driven a vehicle that size they would most likely percieve the Uhual as easier mainly because the smaller cab.
Why would you want a Cummins, id burn it, maybe a 7.3 powerstroke
7.3 powerstroke doesn’t come to modern emission standards. The 6.7 ISB does.
7.3 was a great engine 15 years ago .
Nice
Thats BIG
Depends on the driver! This truck is small compared to other trucks out there.
@@crazyjdkid oh ok
Nicely done
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Better with the Cummins
Too bad it's no longer offered with the cummins!
@@crazyjdkid damn... I loved hearing the Cummins in the Nelson Tree Service F650s.
Now it comes with the 6.8 V10 or the 6.7 PowerStroke. To my knowledge, outside of a fleet, you’re stuck with the 6.8 V10. U-Haul is an entirely gasoline fuelled fleet, and Penske’s also have the V10; haven’t exactly gotten a straight answer why we have them at all, let alone with the gasoline motor, but i digress. The Triton being a motor, that in my opinion, has so many parts going in different directions, the engine isn’t quite sure what to do.
Well the replacement for the V10 has arrived. The gasoline 7.3L V8 "Godzilla" is expected to replace the aging V10 starting this year. Not that it changes my opinion that a diesel is the best engine for large trucks.
nice vid. :) thats why i hate gas no power..
Yeah, gas engine do great in light pickups, but in a truck with a GVWR of 22,000 lbs it is not enough! Thanks for watching!
ur welcome :) yes they do
Yeah gearing does make a huge difference! And maybe that statement is true with the 7.3L. But today's diesel are able to produce way more power with there gasoline counter parts of similar displacement. Aswell as being significantly more efficient as well. The 7.3L is a dinosaur but a reliable one. Thanks for watching!
@@crazyjdkid Oh really? Then please explain why Fords Truck Sales are more than 50% gas powered!.
Because most of their truck sales go to large fleets who buy the cheapest spec truck to save upfront costs. Fleet trucks get cycled out of their first owners very quickly so the long term investment into a diesel would not pay off.
It barely fits the lane
Its actually felt much skinnier than the other trucks on my channel.
Not a race car bro😂
Make more driving videos
Remeber these cost a lot of money to make! I've got one coming up though! Slightly smaller truck than what is in this video. This time we are going long distance!
All that shakin sucks...
Will that truck do 70 on the hiway?
Yes
