Servicing a slot car motor to improve performance Super 16D Slot Stox - Part 3

- As you might have seen in a previous TechTip the magnets were not securely held in place and could move inside the can. This would slow down the performance of the motor and it would not run as fast. In this episode I fix the magnets in place and explain the techniques to ensure they remain fixed for a long time.

Thank you I will be back.
You are doing the quick and easy method
Yes. I am trying to show the basic way that you can start to do things without needing lots of specialist motor building tools. I will be doing more about building motors in the future, with more in-depth things that can be done.
I've used super glue to hold magnets on group 20 motors, seem to work fine for me.
James. How do you work out the polarity of the magnets if you get them mixed up?
And you need to properly space the magnets to make sure the air gap is the same on both sides
You need a decan straightener and then you need to use a can bearing liner and solder the can together at the joints
They make a magnetic glue for that so you don't lose any magnetic properties from the magnet
How do you zap a motor
You need a magnet zapper which is suitable for ceramic slot car magnets. They generally consist of capacitors and a coil of wire that can generate a magnetic pulse to saturate the magnetic field of the magnets.
You can find plans for magnet zappers online. 😉
Faria melhor que esta técnica 👍
And you need to polish the magnets
You didn't adjust the arm to the magnets by putting a piece of tape on the arm while the epoxy hardens.
You left a lot of stuff out
Maybe you should take the time to do a video then!
