- Join Windham Woodraft and myself on a 4 day 3 night Kayak / Canoe camping adventure on the Manistee River in Upper Michigan. Our adventure starts out at Chippawa Landing Canoe rental / camp ground in Manton Michigan, where we camped one night before the adventure. The next morning the Staff shuttle us up to CCC bridge where we would start our 65 mile journey. So come along and lets have some fun.

Hoping to plan a Maine trip in a year or two, maybe another PA trip also
O oooo My the Brown trout you floated over!
Very cool!
I was curious what make/model of kayaks you used in the video. Any suggested make/model for similar trips?
Look up the iridium stove....it's made for adventures like these......great for any backcountry trip.......
NUCLEAR OUTDOOR PRODUCTS seen that stove you stick in the ground, sailandsuch Trip uses one, not bad stove
65 miles on a scenic river what can be better? Only longer trip. I didn't see any mosquitoes was there any?
Solo Kayak Adventures not bad this trip. Bugs spray at night took care if the few that was out
Way cool float trip. Any new squatch sightings from ST1? Looked like a blast of a time except for the self induced hypothermia and the canoe flip. 3 Cheers for ST1, crazy bastage was roughing it compared to you tree swingers.
MI Timberwookie Darrell had an apple on his pillow Sunday morning! 🤘😆🤘
safety meeting
Good video as always. How tuff do you think campsites would be to find on that stretch this holiday week?
Rich P probably busy, but you can camp anywhere thats is not posted private. All else fails do some bushwacking
Sorry that the weather wasn't always pleasant. Looked like you had a great time [except for the "brown bottle" flu].
It seems to be a habit "flu" when we float the river hahaha
Man Darrell what an epic, epic trip. You are so blessed to have that beautiful river to enjoy. Great campsites and good times. You and Chris are just natural hams on camera but your other buddy didn't want to be on video at all did he ? I sure hope you've recovered from the Brown Bottle Flu ! Sounds serious. 😆
Loved the intro too !
Thank you buddy. We try to get up there every year. Chris and i did a PA hike a few years back. Have you seen Chris video? He did a fantastic job filming and editing.

Nice trip! Any idea how many miles you traveled or time traveled per day? I've spent I think 7 nights so far this year along that river camping out of a kayak. Looks like a nice stretch.
net graphx we did 65 miles, just played it by ear each day.
maybe you can help me out. I'm trying to find this campsite that I was taken to on the Manistee about 20 years ago. it is between the old 131 canoe pull out and Tippy dam and not even that far. it has a tall steep bank on one side of the dnr dock and the camp site is high above the water. we got to it when my foster dad drove down this two track i think was only meant to walk on. many red pines and birch were near the sandy camp site. there was a sand bar in the river straight out from the small dock. many things may have changed since 2000 as to why I am not finding the spot on google earth. my foster dad was from Mesick and a boy scout which leads me to think that this is not a well known place. he let us out at the old 131 pull out and we took our time getting back to camp, let me know if you know where I am talking about.
Starting at CCC Bridge in a couple days for 3 nights. Looking forward to it. How was the campsite selection before the Sharon Rd drop in point?
net graphx Not good my friend the stretch from the CCC bridge to Sharon Road is loaded with houses and private property but there is a place on your left-hand side after Sharon Road bridge is the nice campsite
net graphx As long as you get started in the morning there is the campsites right after Sharon Road bridge
Pretty much what I was thinking. Hoping to be moving on water before 11am with fastish kayaks so at least get past N. Sharon rd. I Know there's at least one an hour past W. Sharon rd. on the right. But will be looking asap after the first bridge just to see of any options.
I'll be looking for the site on the left.
🤘
Where did you take out and what time of year was this?
Mike Gude got out at Chippawa landing camp ground. This trip was Mid June
I seen the Honey hole I have Slayed Steelhead in your Video! Wait......Yupp I have Ripped that River!! Shhhhh!!!
