Whoa!. I thought this was going to be another one of those videos that doesânt fix the problem. Happy to report that I am now using the Scarlet Focusrite 2i2 interfaced with a really old iPad Pro and an exteranllly powered USB hub and the lighting in to USB connector. The thing is that this worked fine with just the lighting to usb camera adaptor and i would always connect power to the adaptor. Somehow my iPad updated to 16 version and this stopped working.
Thanks for this. I have to manage more devices now but at least it works on the iPad like before.
Appreciate the effort put in!
Yup, unfortunately updates can change up things they really shouldn't - like hardware! Glad to hear it helped.
Thanks Pete Iâm going to try these suggestions. Fingers crossed đ€
Best of luck!
@Pete Johns - Studio Live Today Got the Focusrite and the Atolla hub. Set up runs great. My mic now sounds amazing with phantom power. Thanks again for the video Pete.

Many thanks, this is big help. I face the same (underpower) problem with Behringer UMC22 with iPhone 11. Previously i used BandLab Analog mini to record my instrument ( bass) to GarageBand, but planning to record voice too i then bought the adapter in order to use the AI. So now i need to add USB powered hub.
I would Aways recommend a genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter and a powered USB hub. Having these two pieces of gear will have you covered for anything you throw at your device.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thank you Pete, I have purchased the genuine Apple adapter & it works flawlessly in the setup. The only thing to workout now is my playing...haha.. recording to GarageBand thru AI has revealed how sloppy my playing is...

(@Pete - Have a look at Shortkeys for Windows (or Autohotkey if you're familiar with programming). You can use it to make text replace when you're doing live streams so that for example, if you say #usb, it will replace it with the link to this video.

Thank you! Iâve been looking for a good text replacement app. I used hot key apps all the time back in the Windows 95 and 98 days but havenât found a good one for Windows 10.
Thought I was getting a deal on a good priced older m audio midi from 2012, but I ran into the exact issue with my new iPad not connecting. Same thing happening with my old presonus interface. Works nicely with my desktop however. Thanks for the video!

Pete, thank you for all of your informative and helpful videos! I'm using an iPad Air2, a Scarlett 3rd gen solo connected through a third party camera connector. It works all of the time, but there is background static whenever phantom power (48V) is enabled. Any thoughts??
HmmmâŠ. Might not be getting enough power through and need a powered USB hub. As you know I also highly recommend the genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter - czcams.com/video/qt6ZczdUdV4/video.html

Hi Pete, If you have an iPad Pro with USB - C connection and magic keyboard, the camera adapter is not needed. Simply connect Focusrite via a small USB C to USB adapter [ a couple of bucks] to the iPad Pro and then the charging cable to the separate input in the keyboard. Itâs good to go. Works every time.
Thanks for all your brilliant videos.
Yup. Iâm covering exactly this on the he channel this week now that I have a USB-C iPad Pro. Thanks for your support!

Hey Pete, thanks for all the videos! I wonder if you have any experience with Ipad pro? It has the usbc connection instead of the thunderbolt. I ran my audiotechnica at2020 thru a phantom power box then through a cloud lifter then thru a focusrite scarlett into an apple multiport adapter into my ipad pro. I tried everything for an hour and I couldnt get it to work. Testing to see if cables were bad, in app settings, etc.. Then as a last resort, I switched the usbc to usbc cable to a usbc to usba cable and finally that worked! You would think that usbc from multiport to usbc on the focusrite would really work best but nope. At least not in my case.
Hey there. So Iâve only just got an iPad Pro with USB-C so still experimenting but found similar things with converting USB-C to A working best.
What is the program youâre using on both your videos on the interfaces? Looks like a couple of different ones. Excellent videos by the way. Just purchased 2i2 for use with computer, but would love to iPad or iPhone it! Thank you! USB powered hub and camera to usb 3 on way!đ
Hey Michael. I canât actually recall what I was showing. Probably GarageBand iOS and maybe AudioShare? Theyâre my go-to.
Awesome tips pete! I love using garageband and IK Multimedia Amplitube. With that, Just out of curiosity, is it possible with Amplitube app, can it be use with any Audio Interfaces such as FocusRite models, etc besides iRig product?
Yup. Amplitude is just accepting whatever audio input is coming in to your iPad/iPhone. So any interface can be used with any app.
Hi - thank you for this video. I have the focusrite 2i2 with 2 input channels. I am able to record my voice in ipad when using my XLR dynamic mic connected to 1st input channel. However, when I try to connect the same XLR dynamic mic to the 2nd input channel then nothing gets recorded in my ipad. I mean I can see that the green lights fluctuate in focusrite 2i2 for the 2nd input channel when I say something but sound is getting in ipad/iOS. Does that mean iOS devices allows input from only the 1st channel and not 2nd?
Hey there. Make sure youâve-set the input to input 2, and check the settings to ensure that you donât have it set to line level instead of mic level. More info at studiolivetoday.com
You can add a power supply to the iRig Pro I/O, and it will power your iDevice as well.
Nice one! I knew the iRig has its own power supply you can buy separately but o didnât know this also charged your iPhone/iPad. Good to know.
Hi Peter
I have been following your channel for few years and it's really great.
I need your feedback regarding using the LIGHTNING TO USB 3 adapter (apple product).
When I connect my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen to iPad never worked.
Software running currently: 12.5.2
iPad air
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Hey there. Are you using a powered USB hub along with the genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter? Focusrite interfaces need a decent and constant power supply so this is the most common issue. More info is here - studiolivetoday.com/usb
Great video. Why my audio recorded on scarllet 212 is being recorded mono?
If youâre connecting a stereo audio source you would need to connect up to both the left and right channel with two separate cables. This video shows you how this all works. czcams.com/video/Dbz8sxuy5X0/video.html
Pete do you have to use garage band to get the audio monitoring when plugging in the focus rite Scarlett, USB powered hub and the usb3 lightening adapter?
Hey there. Any app which has a âmonitorâ feature will work, but standard apps like the camera app wonât actually playback live audio.
Hi Pete, thanks for you vid! I am trying to connect my iphone to my scarlet 2i2 (2nd gen) with a pair of focal alpha 60 monitor speakers. I have the USB hub set up exactly as you do in this video but I am still getting odd flashes of power from the interface. Do you have any suggestions?! Thanks!
Hmmmm..... are you using a genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter? This video has some tips that may help. czcams.com/video/gwNqV1W3fPU/video.html
i dont know if this will help anyone, but i think i should share. i connected the focusrite to my ipad without the black usb port extension by pressing the 48V button. of course, only after plugging into a power supply. idk what 48V means other than probably 48 volts but it worked and im happy:)
thank you for the video- youve been super helpful in having the best, most straight forward information i could find on youtube!!!
Thanks for sharing and for your kind words my friend. đđ
Hey Pete, hope you can help. I have an I track solo which I use on my iPad and iPhone. Is there a way to change the second input to line level so I can play backing tracks through the audio interface? Or is it just set to instrument level and Iâm stuck with that?
Many thanks
Hey there. Not super familiar with this interface sorry! Probably doesnât support line level through if itâs a standard XLR/1/4â interface. Maybe ask over at the GarageBand Users Facebook group - studiolivetoday.com/gbu
Hi Pete....Re Tendak powered USB hub.....are there different brands out there like this you can recommend. Thank you!
Hey there. Yes, Atolla make good stuff and they are linked in my gear guide. studiolivetoday.com/gear.
Anker or Aukru are also good.
Great video which allowed me to connect my Focusrite S2i2 to my iPhone. However, I upgraded to iOS15 and now when connecting the cable the phone doesnât pick up the interface or show the usual connection message⊠can anything be done? Or have to wait for an iOS update / bug fix?
Hey there. Yes this is a common issue and apparently there is a fix that will help that another user told me about. Iâll paste the info here too but also recommend joining to Create Record Release Facebook group. createrecordreleaae.com
Focusrite Scarlett + iOS 15 issue:
I had a very helpful viewer Glenn provide this information from Focusrite showing how to change the Scarlett interface from MSD (Mass Storage Device) mode which is causing issues for many mobile creators. Hope it helps others.
Here's how you can manually remove the Scarlett from MSD Mode:
1. Power unit up like normal by plugging a USB cable into the iPad
2. Unplug the USB cable
3. Hold down 48V and again plug in the USB cable whilst continuing to hold down the 48V button for 10 seconds
4. After 10 seconds unplug the USB cable again
5. Plug the cable back in one more time and youâre good to go
Hi Pete, do you notice any latency difference if using power hub on focusrite vs steinberg with separate power? Thanks.
Latency seems about the same. I tend to have slightly better experience with Steinberg.
Hi Pete, Thank you for videos that you have been making. I just bought the Ipad pro 2020 having usb-c connection. What would be my options to replace lightening camera connection dongle with the compatible dongle that supports to usb-c to audio interface?
Hi there. The good news is that you can use any USB-C hub or dock as it is a standard connection type. đ
@@PeteJohnsMusic Got it no dongles required. Thank you Pete.
Hi, Iâm having issues stemming from purchasing a Focusrite 4i4 to interface with my I pad pro 2020. I was hoping Iâd finally found the solution because I also have the magic keyboard but Iâm still not able to even download the drivers and software. Would a powered USB-C hub be the ticket? I realized after it was too late that I should have purchased the 2i2. Thanks in advance.
Hello, thank you for the informative video. What changes the setup at 8:49 in the video? Immediately before that, the behringer does not look like it has enough power (it is flashing)...and at 8:49 it appears solid. I'm trying to get a Behringer UMC404HD working with an iPad right now.
Hey there. So generally you need to make sure you have the genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter and either some power going in the Lightning port, or a powered USB hub. studiolivetoday.com/usb
@@PeteJohnsMusic I understand that...yesterday afternoon I did pick up a powered hub and got my interface to work, so thanks again!
But at 8:48, the power on the behringer is flickering. At 8:49, it isn't. Just trying to understand what changed in the wiring at that point, but it doesn't look like anything changed.
Great video, I took your advice and bought all the requisite cables and even a new Scarlett, but my iPad simply doesn't recognize any new external mic. Is there some setting in the iPad I have to change to get it to recognize the new setup?
Hey there. Sorry to hear youâre having issues. You definitely have the genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter? Thatâs the most common cause of issues. Otherwise I would provide more info over at the GarageBand Users Facebook group and get some help there. studiolivetoday.com/gbu
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thanks, I posted a request to join. I appreciate the immediate reply and help. It's so frustrating. Also, yes, It is a genuine Apple product, and a brand new Scarlett solo.
Hey Pete will this work with the standard usb dongle (the single usb camera dongle) if you have the usb hub?
Hey there. I recommend the genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter for better reliability and to ensure everything can be powered, but the standard adapter can work too for most gear.
Hello Pete, thanks for the very useful video tutorial.
I have a doubt, I was able to record video and audio (with condenser mic) using my iPhone SE 2020 and focusrite solo successfully but I noticed that when I play the video connected to my monitor speakers only one channel can be hear (mono, per say). Is there any way to correct this?
Hey there. You would need to mix this back to both left and eight channels in editing. I use LumaFusion for this when it comes to video, and AudioShare for audio. You basically take the audio which is all on one side and make it mono so the same is on both sides
@@PeteJohnsMusic sounds good, I appreciate the thorough explanation. Thanks again Pete!
Thanks for another great video Pete. Do you ever have issues with lag when using interfaces. I could only use wireless headphones (it would not work with my wire headphones that connect to my phone) would purchasing headphones that connect interface solve the issue?
Hey there. Yes, connect up headphones directly to the interface and you should get the beta audio playback. There is always some latency, it with something like the Steinberg UR22C you can mix in the direct signal for latency free monitoring.
Pete Johns thanks will go and purchase some headphones for it now. Looking forward to your new music

Hi Pete love the videos đ can I just ask something. I use the official lightning apple cable I use a focusrite 4i4 and a powered usb hub. I usually have the hub plugged in to power. However it often just doesnât come on at all or it will cut out half way through tracking. The plug provides 5w of power to the usb hub. Could the reason be that the focusrite needs more than 5w and thatâs why it cuts out? Any suggestions !? Iâve not bought a portable battery power as there quite expensive would this be something you recommend?
When I also connect a charging port to the usb hub to try and power the iPad that also doesnât work. Could it be the actual usb hub is the problem ? Or possibly the plug I just donât know

@@PeteJohnsMusic this is the video I commented on mate ! Iâve watched it and still bumped into the Same problems as I mentioned above
Hi Pete
I subscribe to your YT channel and find your videos very useful, thanks a lot.
I just purchased a Steinberg UR12 to use with my 2020 iPad. It plugs in and powers up fine, using a powered USB port, and I get a clean guitar sound in Garageband. However, I canât hear the sounds normally available through the Amps section, or via the Amplitube Mesa Boogie, which I can hear using my iRig 2.
I could of course (and will in due course) download the provided Cubasis LE app, but I would first like to maximise the potential of Garageband. You may have dealt with my issue in one of your videos, either way would you be able to kindly assist me?
Many thanks in advance
Hey there. Sounds like a monitoring issue? You may have the âdirect monitoringâ on, meaning youâre only hearing the direct sound and not the processed GarageBand sound coming through. Let me know if this helps. Also suggest joining and engaging on the GarageBand Users Facebook group.
Awesome video here! I wonder, I'm only getting audio through the first channel of my 2i2 3rd gen Focusrite. Doesn't matter what it is - tried both XLR and 1/4" and the first input works perfectly, just no sound through the second even though level shows up on the physical interface. Thought it was a routing issue, but not sure if it's just that I need a powered USB port. Any feedback is appreciated!
Hey there my friend. What software are you using to record? Youâll usually need to set the input to input 2 as things like GarageBand will default to input 1. Maybe ask over at the GarageBand Users Facebook group if you need some more advice. studiolivetoday.com/gbu

I wanted to send a pic to display my situation but I donât know how to do that in the comments lol. Anyways if you have any other tricks and tip on this subject let me know. Thanks đ
Hey there. Usually comes down to the genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter or a power issue. I would ask the good folks over at the Create Record Release or GarageBand Users Facebook groups. Http://createrecordreleaae.com
Can UR44C be used to connect ipad pro with electric piano korg D1 and speaker JBL 305p to make the sound source for playing ipad pro sound out of the speaker?
If your keyboard has stereo line outputs and the speakers have line inputs then you would be fine. Or you could use MIDI and a software instrument. This video has more info. czcams.com/video/Dbz8sxuy5X0/video.html
And more info about About USB-C iPad connections here. czcams.com/video/3Zyb1ISy3wk/video.html
Hi Pete. I just received the UR22C with my SM58. I hooked it all up to my iPad Pro 2018. Newb question. When I record I only get audio from the left speaker when I try it with the voice memos app or GarageBand or voiceover in LumaFusion. Iâd like to get stereo. What am I doing wrong?
Hey there. So the two channels basically represent left and right in standard apps. GarageBand you can just select âchannel 1â and it will give you mono sound (so in both speakers).
For LumaFusion, there is an option in the audio track to âfilm from leftâ for just these situations which will copy the audio across both tracks.
What speakers are you using? Can u please do a video on how to hook up speakers to iPad ?

My ipad doesn't recognize the interface... do i have to get that usb/lighting adapter? The cable USB-C to Lighting won't work? Thank you!
Yeah. So sometimes itâs a power issue or the need to create a USB bridge. So a genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter is the best bet. studiolivetoday.com/gear
@@PeteJohnsMusic i bought a cheap adapter from amazon and it worked. But i got a lot of noise coming from the interface, probably because it's not a real Apple adapter?

Hey there. I plug mine in directly to A/C power. I also sometimes use a portable battery as anything that can send the 5v DC current will work. This video might help. czcams.com/video/k2LpLjHnKGw/video.html
Thank's again, I'll keep trying...đ
Yesss, got it working!!!the order of the connections seems the problem...like you said in your video.

I have a Behringer UMC404HD. Iâm trying to use it with a 9th generation iPad. It gets picked up easily by logic but only the output works. The input only records very quiet and distorted. It works on Garage band fine. I have been through the settings but canât find anything wrong. Any ideas? Great videos btw.
Interesting?! So the exact same input settings and itâs a different sound in Logic vs GarageBand? Thatâs really odd. Maybe ask over at the Create Record Release Facebook group at createrecordreleaae.com, or the Discord group here - studiolivetoday.com/discord. Or hit me uk in email with more details. pete@studiolivetoday.com
Thanks for the video sir.. Can I use a Scarlet 2i4 with an IOS?
Yes, most of the Scarlett series interfaces are class compliant, however will need a powered USB to operate as I show in this video - czcams.com/video/gwNqV1W3fPU/video.html
please, the iPhone lightning to usb doesnât ship to Nigeria. How can I get it? I seriously do need help on that sir.
hello! instead of the adapter for the iPhone, do you have a link for Android? That it comes with the DAC Chip and is compatible with the Samsung A54 5g?
Pretty much any USB-C adapter of USB-C audio interface will work for you here.
Hey Pete, what do you think of the Itrack solo to record music? I've been looking at interfaces that support both IOS and PC. The Itrack seems cool but it's just kind of old and I haven't seen any newer reviews on it. Also though, I've seen the Motu M2 which has been getting a lot of good reviews recently, though, If I got that I would need to purchases USB Hub and the camera adaptor, setting me back quite a back money wise.
Also, if you're wondering I have checked out the Irig pro, but it seems that there's a ton of variety in reviews, like it's either really good, or really bad. So I'm not sure how good the quality control is
I guess the Itrack solo is cheaper since it came out in like 2012
Iâve always been intrigued guy Ed by the iTrack Solo but youâre right that itâs an olde device. So old in fact that the original version came with a 30 pin cable. So definitely check that if youâre buying one second hand!
From what Iâve heard, the preamp is lifted straight from the 1st gen Scarlett series so youâll get decent quality. I juts keep coming back to Stienberg for those nice quiet Yamaha D-Pre preamps, and solid A/D converters. Plus the power switching option is so handy.
And donât forget that once you have a powered hub you can swap in and out USB drives, mice, MIDI keyboards and any other USB devices.
@@PeteJohnsMusic I see, thanks! How do you feel about the Motu m2 and m4 though?
Thanks Pete. Iâve a bad metallic noise when I record or do monitoring. I use ur22 mk2 and an iPad Pro. No problem when using the ur22 mk2 with my MacBook Pro. Do you have an idea ? I think about a 48kHz or 44.1kHz configuration problem...
Hmmmm..... thatâs odd? I use a UR12 and UR22C with my iPhone and iPads and havenât experienced this. It should just default to 44.1kHz. Have you tried in different apps?
I have the same issue with the same interface on my iPhone 11
i have the same problem here! please let us know how to fix this static hiss..
Pete you are the man I am having trouble using my Iraq pro duo with my new ipad 10 it's speaking Red and high pitch noise like crazy any idea what it could be
Thatâs odd? Hard to troubleshoot from afar, but not something Iâve come across. Make sure youâve tried turning everything off completely and back on as that can often help. Otherwise you might need to reach out to IK Multimedia.
Thank you for the advice, you are goin to laugh but all I needed was a fresh pair of batteries, or to use the irig charger, so the problem was power.â Your video Fix Errors..
help me the most! Thanks man!
I've enjoyed and learned from your videos. do you have any info/experience with the Yamaha AG 06 mixer/audio interface? I've been
having some problems getting it to work with my IPAD. also, do you have any tips for using this mixer with FaceTime or Zoom?
Hey there. I havenât used the AG series sorry. Whatâs actually happening and not working? Seems quite straightforward from the videos Iâve seen - czcams.com/video/rn2LrVPJHTs/video.html
@@PeteJohnsMusic thanks for your reply, Pete. I think my problems arise from the 5 volt power supply I've been trying to use. I will have to go back and see if I can find a more robust unit than the one I have. I get the flickering light on the power indicator and none of eq or effects seem to work, plus my ipad doesn't seem to recognize it.
@@toddswenson4915 hi Todd , I have same problem using my iPad with my Yamaha ag03....did you manage to the problem ? Thanks jon very frustrated in cold rainy Essex
@@jonmurfin6443 jon, my problem was specifically trying to use the AG06 with FaceTime on an IPad. It turned out that there was no possibility to use it for that purpose. FaceTime doesnât allow for any other mic besides the one in the IPad, as far as I know. As far as external power, I did find a 5 volt adapter that works well. Good luck with yours. I have definitely gotten my moneyâs worth out of my AG06.
@@toddswenson4915 aww thanks , really appreciate you getting back to me , glad you got yours sorted yes Iâm pleased with my ago3 ...spose I better find a good 5 volt thingy then cheers
Hi Pete. Iâm struggling with my Rode condenser microphone and the interface i have to connect to my laptop. I have no sound so Iâm wondering if I need a phantom power box. What would you recommend. It would be extremely helpful. Or perhaps I even have the wrong interface
Hey there. Depends on the exact mic you're using and whether it is USB or you're using an audio interface. My gear guide here has info - studiolivetoday.com/gear. Or feel free to reach out to me via email if you need more assistance. pete@studiolivetoday.com
I have an ipad mini 4. Do you think it will work on scarlett 2i2 without a usb hub?
Probably not. A powered USB hub would be a good idea. studiolivetoday.com/usb
Hi peter also Muto m2 will sport GarageBand program ? Because im planning to get it
Hey there. I havenât personally used it but yes I have heard from others that it works and is class compliant.
@@PeteJohnsMusic thanks very much peter, im already subscribe you
So Iâve a beringher 4 channel(newer) powered interface out usb to powered hub t apple adapter into new iPhone and it only records one channel when recording video...any thoughts. Thanks mate p.s on my iPad with same set up all 4 channels are picked up.
Hey there. Yes, this is the problem with audio interfaces. The only way to manage this is to edit afterwards or use some sort of software solution to make the audio mono. Otherwise it will put a channel on the left or right.
Thanks for the video. Iâm using a Behringer U-PHORIA UMC202HD but Iâm struggling to get the monitoring to work. If I play, for example, a CZcams video, my iPad will send the audio to the headphone out on the audio interface. However, I canât work out how to get GarageBand or any other app to do the same. My iPad is the Air 4, so it doesnât have a headphone socket of itâs own, and it uses USB rather than lightning, but Iâm using the official Apple dongle and powering it with the power brick that came with the iPad. Any pointers?
You should be able to just connect headphones to the headphone jack on the audio interface. Then set the monitoring in GarageBand or other software and you should get playback of audio. If youâre having issues, provide some more info and ask over at the GarageBand Users Facebook group - studiolivetoday.com/gbu
@@PeteJohnsMusic Hi Pete, thanks for the reply. It _should_ work is about where Iâm at. Oh well. Itâs not a disaster that I canât hear the monitor audio, itâs just a bit annoying. Thankâs for the suggestion of the Facebook group.
Hey man. Im having a hard time finding good review of Roland Rubix 44. It has a built in compressor/limiter, which is a big interest for ease of use for me. Is there a reason why you/others dont have this device on their go to list? Can you review it?
Hey there. I haven't used much Roland gear to be honest. It just comes down to not being able to buy and review everything unfortunately. I do have a Roland GO Mixer Pro on the way, but nothing else from Roland sorry.
Pete Johns Alright, well, it was good to ask. Thanks for responding. Im curious how that rubix 44 compares to others, but your a busy guy so I will continue searching. Take care.
Hi sir. Question. I have a prob with my interface. Everytime i use my interface with my camera app on my iphone, i have to do a work around for the phone to capture the audio thatâs coming from my interface. Have you encounter this on the interfaces you have? The thing is, the developer said itâs the way the iphone camera was made thatâs why i have to do a work around. But on my previous interface, it will work just fine. Thanks and keep it up :)
Yeah, o have heard that some interfaces and adapters cause this problem. I havenât had any issues with my interfaces like this?
Pete Johns oh well, good for you. I just hope theyâll eventually look into these kinds of bugs. Thank you again. I was able to learn and get ideas from you to make my mobile setup better :)
Hiii help buddy! I use Focusrite 2i2 to connect with my iPhoneâs camera. But all audio only comes out from the left side of my speakers or headphone. How to fix this? Pleaseeee I really need help. Thank you soooo much
Yup. All two channel interfaces work this way. Youâll need to record and then adjust in editing by converting from stereo to mono.
Hi Pete.
Very helpful video. I was unable to power my Scarlett 2i2 interface connected to my 7th. gen iPad using an authorized Apple camera connection adaptor with my iPad charger plugged in as well. It appears that the lightning charger cable does nothing for the interface just charges the iPad.
Can you confirm this?
I can get my Scarlett operating if I plug into a powered usb hub like you demonstrated.
So in reality, one could just purchase a cheaper camera connection kit without the lightning charger addition and go straight into the powered hub if you didnât care about charging your device.
Can you confirm this?
Have you learned if a certain model iPad can power up a Scarlett 2i2 with out using outside power? You kind of alluded to that in your presentation.
When I tried it without the powered usb hub at first, I too just got a dim flash of the gain halos and a dim light of the 48 phantom power indicator.
The funny part of this is that some videos in YT show the Scarlett connecting to an iPad just using the camera connection kit with the lightning power adaptor.
Love your videos Pete, have been watching for a while now. Keep it up man!
Hey there. This web link on my site might help with these questions. A powered USB hub is pretty essential for most non-Steinberg interfaces. You do however also need a genuine Apple Lightning to USB 3 adapter or at least the genuine Apple version without the Lightning power port. The important part is that it is genuine Apple as I explain in this one / czcams.com/video/qt6ZczdUdV4/video.html
How about an older Yamaha DTX502Touch 502 digital drum set⊠can I plug it into the behringer with the usb hub can I hear my kit thru the iPad?
If you push it out via stereo outputs you can / czcams.com/video/Dbz8sxuy5X0/video.html
@@PeteJohnsMusic So can I just go with 2 mono 1/4â cables from my DTX out into my behringer inputs? Thank you so much for your info youâre a lifesaver!!
I have a question, so I have a THX onyx dac that requires me to hook up the lightning to USB connector as in this video when Iâm using the USB a to USB c adapter, there seems to be a connection, fault, or something between the USB a connector and the USB-C connector. How can I fix this because it keeps disconnecting the deck from my phone and I have to constantly unplug it and plug it back in to see if itâll connect and even then sometimes that doesnât work.
HmmmmâŠ. Weird one? Maybe ask over at the Create Record Release Facebook group at createrecordreleaae.com, or the Discord group here - studiolivetoday.com/discord.
Will a native union powered hub work? Does the powered hub have to transfer data or just be powerful enough to run the Scarlett 2i4 in my case. It wonât work with a high powered wall wort.
Itâs a little hit and miss so you generally just need to try.
@@PeteJohnsMusic I guess Iâll just get the hub you listed to be safe. Although the native union one is pretty inexpensive and nice looking. Oh well. Rather have it work than look cool
@@PeteJohnsMusic Welp, no..doesnât work. Either did a powered data transfer hub. Sucks. I have a Scarlett I canât use. Goin on reverb,I guessđ€·ââïž
So, i have an evo4 from Audient, been using it for about 2 years now, but since Iâve had it, Iâve used two iPads with it. First my 2018 iPad, and now my iPad Air 4. Works great. And a focusrite works nice too. They all do.
So my question is about when youâre switching between apps, and BiasFX2 mobile is running, whether or not you have it running through GarageBand, when I switch between apps to control Spotify or CZcams, i get a sudden spike in the gain and all this feedback comes through, till i select the channel on my interface and dial down the gain. Itâs become âthe bug you canât really avoidâ since anytime i bring it up to people at music shops always talk down to me with their more expensive gear talk and how i should just use Nural DSP and get a MacBook and get Logic Pro and Fruity Loops or Pro Tools. I am actually versed in all 3 and beyond. They act like Iâm just starting. (Straight up haters is what they are. Because iâm doin the same thing with good results for 75% off the prices these gear-heads pay.) Iâll jam to music on Spotify or Iâll play in the background of CZcams videos like yours while im listening and thatâs when i experience it the most. I usually just hit the mute button if iâm not playing so much anymore.
Do you know this feedback issue i speak of? Sorry for the drama part.. and the book of an explanation love all your work. You are the GURU!
Hey there. So, o havenât really com across this specifically with any of my interfaces. Maybe one to ask over at the Create Record Release or GarageBand Users Facebook group? createrecordreleaae.com
@@PeteJohnsMusic damn Iâm gonna check that out!
@@PeteJohnsMusic to describe it more, itâs like my guitar gets unplugged when I swtich between apps, and I get that overly heavy gain feedback. Gonna check that forum
