The greatest skill in dramatic coloratura ever recorded. One of Bellini's most perilous coloratura lines, handled by Callas as if she merely improvised it.
    A machine gun indeed.

I remember the first time I heard this part of this performance of I Pirata - I was completely blown away. My hair was literally standing on end.

Oh Maria bring it on home girl! Nikoli Rocisgno probably spelled wrong. Was very good with Callas one of the few conductors that understood her as a performer. But not as much as Maria. She loved working with him. It made a very good collaboration and team late in her career. Thank you Callasfan for this great pieces of work once again get some rest 8 hours of sleep and you better work! Arnold Bourbon Amaral

Mind your own bussiness... I dont need Help... I LOVE THAT TEMPO!!! after all these years and after hearing Marina's today released version of this and after re-hearing Caballe's DISASTER on this (which peculiarly I comment as Fantastic - Im fucking crazy!) I finally UNDERSTAND the difficulty of this phrase and why Maria was complaining... (a LIFETIME is not enough to even begin to understand Opera...)

Always wondered how the 58 Scala Pirata with Corelli and Bastianini under Votto might have sounded.. guess we’ll never know :((

@@victoriagrapsidou3474 actually there was one! I can not think that Scala didn’t record ALL her operas since she was their major hit in the 50’s.. rumor has it that Corelli’s wife said his voice wasn’t good that night and had it erased.. who knows the truth?!
